What?
You can't seriously think those guys are cool. They're completely braindead.
You are making pathetic blind assumptions ... not everyone is like that.

Tryhard? I'm seriously actually just describing my opinion. I knew this guy who 'worked out a lot' - he literally never put a shirt on, always complained about the heat, wore a gallon of axe, and was just generally insufferable. I know this is a generalization, but I've had -many- run-ins with guys who were 'soooo fittt', and.. none of them seemed to have any braincells. :/

Still your assumption was uncalled for ... you never met me so putting me in that category is highly unfair of you .. and if you don't realize that then I guess you just don't have the brain cells to think more.

Yeah, every Christian I meet tend to be ignorant and arrogant so I guess Christians tend to be ignorant and arrogant.

And I met a very unlikable black person who was also a thief.
That doesn't mean every single black person is a criminal and unlikable.

I've met several individuals under the aforementioned generalization. Meeting a single person who's 'not the same' does not undermine the trend. If I start meeting more, I may rethink it.

That, or they take the Bible, interpret it literally, and completely ignore any real facts. Most of my family is christian. Most of the people here, are christian.
The point is,
Generalizations aren't pretty, but a trend is a trend and one person going against it doesn't miraculously mean the trend in and of itself is just a fluke. I don't claim to know the whole of humanity, or feel these trends are absolute universal truth, but it's human nature to take one experience as a fluke, a second as suspicious, a third as a pattern, and any recurring, repeating similar ones as a general rule. Not going to apologize for my acquired feelings.
Court Jester could be a 'pre coo gai'. Still not interested in hearing about how hard his abs are or how much he lifts. :/

Show me an example of your impressive intelligence, then. I just did by pointing out not everyone is the same and that you never met me so making that assumption is blind and uncalled for. ( That's common sense to not judge a book by it's cover, unless they have a certain fear or experienced something traumatic from certain individuals or groups )
I don't have to post anything intelligent just so I can try to prove to you I am smart, the problem is how the hell can you be so dumb to not get away from these peers and search for a better crowd?
We have 7 billion on this planet, many with unique traits and personalities and many who were born in a system to act and think the same based on how the strong the trend is around their environment.

Forming generalizations based on -many, repeated- experiences isn't 'dumb', it's human nature. It's the -exact- same reason guys think 'hot' girls are stupid, and associate attractive guys with being assholes. You get screwed over or just generally unimpressed by a specific type, and it occurs more than once, you're -going- to develop an opinion based on the common denominator among the offending individuals.
"Don't judge a book by its cover" is all well and good, until it's completely counter-intuitive to basic human behavior. :/

Weight training wise it was 2008 after my last APFT. I do cardio and fighting training instead because of the diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

He only wrote that he goes to the gym a lot. Probably a source of stress relief. Seems like you have an irrational hate of people who work out a lot.
I'm guessing you're very fat, and probably single.

You based your opinion on someone you've never met, and only based of 1 thing they said. That sort of behavior is more counter-intuitive.

Basic human behavior .. what is that exactly to you?
And also, you mentioning repeated experiences means you had more of it than your mind could ask for ... first of all .. why the hell would you have constant experiences with such people if you knew for the first few times that it was futile associating with such peers?
Also men who boast about their happiness working out doesn't mean they are brain-dead people, it could also mean someone such as myself finally found a way to work out to relieve stress, rather than grab a bag of chips to relieve stress, also because working out has many benefits to the human body and also the human mind, and many here in Fakku could agree with me on that.
Also the smart move would be knowing the individuals first before judging them or placing them in your least liked category in mind. It seems to me as if you had a desire to associate with such people but instead it went wrong and they messed with you or your expectations.
You putting millions and millions of goodhearted men who work out for the sole pleasure of feeling happy in your category of being assholes is pretty damn unfair.
I am not impressed by your assumptions nor your way of thinking about it.
And for your info I am still overweight that is starting to feel the results of his training, I feel lighter, stronger, more confident about myself and I can socialize better with people, I do it because I wanna feel good about myself, not prove a point or showing it off.

You most likely will be able to lift that amount since you have gone through training in your past, but you may hurt yourself.

Irrational? No, it's based on many past experiences. This didn't come out of nowhere from feelings of insecurity, I've just happened to have met exclusively retarded people whose identifiers were their workout habits and general shallow behavior.

oh, and dont stop working out. if you do, not only will you feel like shit, but you might get ill (ive seen it happen to some sporty guys that stopped..)
4 hours a day .. damn .. that's too much .. no wonder you'll feel like shit when you stop .. I workout like an hour.
Confused C J for the person quoted.
4 hours a day screams juicehead. 1 hour a day seems pretty healthy. Maybe not every.single.day but.. regularly.
Still, a thread devoted to talking about working out ... wouldn't it be more fit for the sports section? Putting it in IB seems to much like a braggy 'DO YOU EVEN LIFT' thread.

>1. Basic human behavior is, your perspective is colored by your experiences. You pay attention to patterns, as great as it would be for people to judge every single person on an individual basis would be, we simply do not work like that. When something happens literally over and over again, you become more sensitive to the markers.
>2. I didn't associate with these people, these people were either a. introduced to me as part of the circle of friends to which a mutual friend or significant other belonged, or b. randomly message me going 'can i see your tits?' 'lol, add me ur sexy', or something generally in that category. Actually had that happen earlier this week, I don't consider these events brag-worthy at all, the guys seemed completely inept and unable to form coherent sentences.
>3. Fine, whatever works for you.
>4. My expectations of these individuals has been the same, and always proven right.
>5. What makes you think I'm above being proven wrong? Everyone, and I do mean -everyone- creates stereotypes in their head. Determining 'unfair' is whether or not they're open to being proven wrong.
So far, it just sounds like you're trying to defend yourself as loudly as possible. So you're working out, and it makes you feel better, great.
Sports seems the better place for this, honestly.

Spoiler:
No in this case I don't need to defend myself since we have not met and I cannot prove to you that I am different, but you are smart enough to realize who you are dealing with and not have any more association with them, whether they come from another friend or not.
This thread isn't exactly meant for the sports because it has no contribution to the sports thread at all, it's just a conversation with users.
The fact that your expectations of these people were always proven right means you don't desire meeting people who can prove you wrong, meaning I assume you are just targeting assholes instead of targeting good guys with a liking to working out, and based on how smart you are, I assume you know where to look for guys who love working out AND have a smart mind AND have a good heart.
Everyone can choose whether to think differently or not, it's their decision, however regardless of how many of the same types of people I have bad experiences with, that still does not give me the justification of putting every one of them in my least liked category, so I strongly disagree with you on the part that you wrote " we simply do not work like that".
