You can pick up a gun along the way, but where the hell are you gonna find a sword?
The sword is also more quiet and isn't limited by amunition.
Or even better, Gunblade! You get the uses of a sword with long-ranged capabilities.

well that depends on how much ammunition you would have for the gun, because if you where to only have one or two clips then the sword would be the better choice.

Fire does have that to recommend it, but shock rounds... Shock rounds make 'em DANCE!

Well a sword or a blunt object can last a lot longer than a gun so I'll have to go with the sword.

Should have added blunt weapons to the choices. They can be found almost anywhere.

A hammer preferred. Blunt objects means having close contact. So, its 50/50. You either kill it with the first strike, or kiss goodbye.
