This,.. is awesome.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

One million times over. I actually subcribed to Toshio Maeda's website a year or so back so I could read his stuff. Dude is awesome, Living legend. Tell me where to shove my throbbing wad of cash and I will fill it up gooood....

*cough...

Also. Just mildly curious. Does this mean that Fakku could potentially broaden their horizons and give us other adult japanese manga that nobody else would dare touch? Ero Guro Nansensu anyone?

Honestly nothing makes me as uncomfortable as that kind of stuff, and that is probably why I enjoy reading it. If there is plans for such an expansion in the future, let me know anything I can do to help. I mean, I am planning on ordering some already in japanese... but having it in english properly translated would be stellar.

If not. I don't blame you. Shit is intense.

you need enough funding for 3 books, Urotsukidōji, La Blue Girl and Demon Beast Invasion.

Each of those are actually entire series rather than single books. Urotsukidoji alone has a 300 page long first volume, and there are three more volumes after that.

Wikipedia told we there was 6 books, so I assume you talk about a new edition?

Anything is possible.

How will you Kickstart this when kickstarter does not allow adult content? Will the kickstarter not mention adult content?

Does that only apply for real porn or something? There's been several adult-oriented Kickstarters in the past. Grisaia visual novel series, the recent Muv-Luv visual novel kickstarter, even Yaoi manga has been on kickstarter in the past.

They only worked because they included no mention of adult patch or adult contents. If you look at the kickstarter you won't find mentions of the adult version other than some obscure mention of a patch for people who know what the patch is.

I would absolutely endorse Fakku! branching out. It can only be better for the marketplace if a new competitor keeps other publishers on their toes. The way I see it, even though guro, scat, etc. just isn't for me, I would absolutely stand for their right to exist. If a publisher's being attacked because of that, then fuck the critics. What part of "freedom of speech/expression" do they not understand?

Yeah, the original release was split into six volumes. Ours will use the newer edition, consisting of four bigger volumes which also include extra content—I believe volume one had around 40 new pages that helps filling in sort of a plot hole that was there in the old version.

It may be possible, this and this flew through the radar.

But my only concern is how people will react to it. Tentacle Bento was the bait of feminist media attention. @_@

Man seeing Fakku erasing the borders of hentai/japanese adult content between the US and Japan is just amazing.

It's great seeing the legend Toshio Maeda collabing with us dudes in the US, like with the clothing company Supreme.

Also that hug at the end is heartwarming af. lol

Yeah I've been reading critics of the old books and apparently they ended in a confused note, seemingly because of a few plot holes.
well, very nice to see it was remastered.

Not afraid. Just about everyone at Fakku is a feminist, and a large portion of us are female. Contrary to what's been stated on the net, "feminist" is not a scary word nor should be be paraded around as a word equating something bad. If anyone comes around to go on about how this is anti-feminist, I'll be happy to discuss with them how La Blue Girl is actually pretty damn feminist, and then happily go on for pages and pages about how comics are art and should never be censored.

I can't appreciate this enough. I don't really care about labels such as feminist for myself personally, but this is I can agree with fullheartedly.

People just think that feminist equalls to extreme anti-male female now.

The Kickstarter should go off without a hitch, like I said these books are more in the category of "comics for adults" than "pornography for adults". Like everything we do we will never back down from publishing something even if it is controversial, and I promise you we will always defend that decision.

There are no plans for a documentary or anything like that, though it's certainly something that could be done if there was demand for it. I've had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Toshio over the past couple years, he is a truly awesome and hilarious guy.

140 words on twitter have more of an impact than a long tirade. This is the word we live in, I guess.

I am not sure if this would go backer tier's or presentation of the product? I would like a hardback omnibus with a slipcase, this could have original art on the slipcase. From the amount of material it would be more than one book. Along with a form of cultural explanation of story elements that may not be known to a non-Japanese's citizen. Also a wall scroll (original art) would be nice. Hope this helps, Thanks Fakku

In general Toshio's books are not pornographic for the sake of pornography (this is the important difference), rather they are adult stories with sex scenes. You may be familiar with a few of his works as most of them have also been turned into anime over the years, Urotsukidōji actually has a few anime adaptations.
This probably. Some of the Tezuka Osamu's stuff has been kickstarted before and lot of his more-adulty stuff has some sexual content, but not enough to make it a pornography. Though, having Fakku release it would have people think it's more tied more so to sex, I reckon.
