Tabs. The amount of spaces a single tab equals can also be modified so in the end it's a moot point.

I get the feeling you have or just watched that episode of Silicon Valley where Richard gets annoyed by his girlfriend's space button coding habit.

Tabs are just more convenient. Ideal tab length being 2.
