Best Japanese band you ever heard
0
There is quite a selection of bands on this thread and there is a few bands that I really love and I want to share with you guys. I'm posting mainly rock and if anyone is interested, I can post pop or more rock or even other genres. First off, literally my favorite band!
X Japan:
I picked this music video because it's animated, quite a plesent to listen and the lyrics flows nicely to the song and it's just amazing. It's the song I use to introduce people into X! They started out as pioneer of visual kei and then progressivly went to just a well known band. X Japan in Japan is a well known band even though they are deemed "old," but they can still sell out stadiums like nothing. Also, they starting to make their mark in America and the world. Their song "Jade" is in iTunes now! Here's a link to their teaser single!
X Japan "Jade" (Teaser)
Yura Yura Teikoku
Pretty much Japanese version of "psychedelic rock" which brings back the old school feeling back. This music video is a mix between psych rock and alternative. Give them a listen!
Luna Sea
Another visual kei band with a unique sound of their own. Under the same label as X Japan (Extacy Records), they started out with a different name "Lunacy" and then changed their name to Luna Sea. Like X Japan, they continued on the VK image and then went to how they look now, recently did their first world tour. I chose this song because it's one of their well known songs which fans of Luna Sea can agree to be their top selection.
Polysics
This band can only be described as "abstract" and "energetic" just as much as their selection in fashion and the color orange. I chose this music video because this REALLY fits on their image. This is one of these bands you have to see to know what I'm talking about. They sing in Japanese, English and gibberish as well. :P
If anyone wants me to continue to post more bands that I know, please, feel free to tell me! I know a vast selection of Japanese bands so I do not mind sharing to you guys!

Sweet! I'll post more bands are like Ploysics and maybe you will like them as well!
Kinoko Hotel
All female band with visual flare that is also as abstract and colorful as Polysics, but more mellow on the energy. This music video brings back the 60s and I love it because on how odd it is and feels like a scene from a movie. Their costume is usually bell hops so be aware of that too...
Lolita no. 18
All female punk band. Once you get past the cartoony, high-pitched vocals, you'll enjoy their creativity. Furthermore, they covered many American band tracks such as The Ramones "Rockaway Beach" and even "Video Killed the Radio Stars." Furthermore, they still keep on rocking since 1989!
White White Sisters
"They absorbed both electronic and rock elements to create a completely new and unknown beautiful edgy sound with original video art works."
Boom Boom Satellites
Electronic music duo. They are a big beat band or nu skool breaks with jazz influences. They also have rock and punk rock flavors. This is one of their tracks found on the Saw 3D soundtrack and portrays their music style quite well!
Hope you like at least one band that I posted!

Loudness! Oh man, I went to their live gig recently and it was awesome! Anyway, lets get down to some more bands!
Alice Nine
Another visual kei band, but they are another band that I like the music and the visual getup isn't something overboard like other VK bands. This music video "Jewels" displays their talent.
Onmyouza
Japanese metal with a female vocal. I picked this music video because it blends traditional Japanese wear into a metal scene. Feels like a traditional Japanese meets metal. It's awesome!
m-flo
Japanese hip hop group consisting of producer and DJ Taku Takahashi and emcee Verbal. They often hook up with American hip hop artist such as Kayne West to popular pop artist such as BoA. Furthermore, they have done music in the anime scene; recently "Panty and Stocking with Gartnerbelt." Picked this music video because right now it's summer at the northern hemisphere so this fits!
Jin Akanishi
Ex-member of KAT-TUN. Japanese idol, singer-songwriter, actor and seiyu. Don't poo-poo over him for being a part of popular male J-pop. His solo work is quite interesting, even though this is aimed more toward the "female audience," but surely give it a listen though!
Oreskaband
Miss ska music? Well Japan got you covered by an all female ska band! Oreskaband (Ore ska band) literally translates to "we're (a) ska band" which is quite an interesting play on words because "ore" is used as referring to yourself in a masculine way and they are all females, but wear schoolboy clothing. Anyway, one of their song made it into the Naruto: Shippuden anime ending theme which is this song.
I'll post more later. Maybe I should create a blog about this? Maybe I should. I have a butt load of Japanese music CDs.

You would go crazy if you listened to them every day. Super-effective for improving one's mood.
I would add Sound Horizon. Variety of great singers, awesome music and one-of-a-kind aura surrounding their music.

I guess I'm gonna have to go with Noodles. They remind me a lot of The Breeders. I'll let you guys judge.
A close second would be the pillows, for nostalgic reasons. I really dig that 90s alt rock sound.
