Dissection's 2006 Midsummer Massacre show, the last live they ever did. I have never again been to such an intense show from both the audience and the band.
There were rumors around that it was supposed to be their last show, that Jon (Leader and singer) were gonna commit suicide and some even said he was gonna do it on stage, to no surprise people were really worked up. Not to mention it was the tour-finale on their first tour in 9 years, as Jon had been in prison for 8 and when they disappeared at the height of their career they were one of the most famous black metal bands out there. So it was intense. I fucking loved it.
Side note: Not even two months after the last live they cancelled their US-tour, as Jon had committed suicide.

What is it with Black metal musicians and killing themselves or people?

World/Inferno Friendship Society show. So much amazing energy, to the point where I just can't listen to their recordings anymore because I end up pining for their live shows.
...Though it's been awhile...

Cool! Another Dissection fan. I didn't care much for the comeback album, but "The Somberlain" and "Storm of the Light's Bane" will forever be monster classics.
@NEXUS, Black Metal musicians tend to be an eccentric bunch and operate under the guise of a 'war against the modern world' so to speak. It's no real surprise a few of them are very serious about it and do crazy shit.

tough one....
its between a modest mouse concert that they gave after they released moon and antartica. it was the best show i've ever seen them give.
interpol in columbus, oh while i was college....they played amazingly, carlos D did not dissapoint, and the crowd went wild.
and then there was the gossip followed by le tigre. damn amazing show. also it was the night after the 2004 election and me and two other friends got our long awaited tattoos that night right before the show. so fun.

We don't get many shows up here, but 36 Crazyfists is local, I love them. Chiodos came up, they were fantastic. Atreyu also showed up, loved them.
I think my favourite show would have to be a local band, The Riot. I had a thing for the vocalist, she had a voice~

That'd have to be Maiden. Oh yes. Maiden was really something else. Metallica was great as well...Therion was awesome like fuck, too.
Udo was great onstage. Despite his age he rocks hard; Sabaton and Devin Townsend Project were fucking insane too.

Iron Maiden in 2006. Not saying much considering the concert was pretty disappointing. They played the entire Matter of Life and Death album and only 5 classic songs. I know they were promoting the album, but geez, they went overboard. No Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills and The Trooper pissed me off even more.
Most disappointing concert ever.

^ this annoys me. Obviously you don't want an artist pandering to the audience and just reeling off the hits, but I went to see the admittedly completely different Regina Spektor a while back, and as amazing as she is, it was pretty much just the new album.
Was an odd concert really, very little audience interaction which she's usually so great at, although the massive venue and piano problems wouldn't have helped. Still an absolutely amazing singer who sounds even more commanding live, and the orchestra made for beautiful renditions, but to compound matters I had to leave in the encore to catch a train, missing a few classics.
I still felt like it was worth it, but I definitely want to see her again. I'd planned originally to go to a smaller gig in one of London's parks, some of the videos from which are amazing, but I wouldn't have been able to make it.
