I would recommend the anime for it actually, up until the final arc. The music and animation helps.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, actually hearing the jokes in Japanese, while the subs tell you the meaning in English, helps even more. Just translated manga might make it too slow.

Classic videogames. Been playing Majora's Mask for the 3Ds and it's brighten my day quite a bit, that and chilling with friends.

I'm the type who can sit there and brood on something for a whole day if left alone. To keep my sanity I try to avoid it but thinking crappy thoughts is inevitable for me. So laying down and doing something that lets my brain shut off is what works best for me. A light hearted, simple anime is usually my first choice. I just try to not think and focus my eyes on the moving pictures. I suppose this method is particularly good for me because I'm someone whose brain shuts off in front of a television. As for other activities, I love gaming a lot. But that kind of media only stimulates my brain more. When you're dealing with something shocking it helps to slow things down and let your head mellow out for a while.
When you're feeling a little better, go out and jog for as long as you can. Some exercise (and sunlight) will help your body feel better and this might in turn ease your mind a bit too.

You could try telling yourself the future will be better. The present can still be a drag, though, sometimes. I try to approach each day with an open state of mind. You never know what might happen, so you might as well be optimistic about it.

I play with my dogs (or any pet in general). They always cheer me up when I'm at my lowest. You should give it a go if you ever get the chance.

Short-term: Youtube/random internet. Can sometimes backfire with guilt and shame; thoughts of "I'm such a lazy asshole/what am I doing with my life".
Long-term: Go for a walk.Depending on where you live, you're bound to happen across someone who needs a hand with something. Helping out random strangers always does wonders for my morale.

Sit with the feeling inside and not doing anything besides letting any thoughts that come up be made aware of, then letting those thoughts fade away by adding no other input. Might not be a way to get yourself up and happy quickly, but does gives a serene inner silence and joy.
If that becomes unbearable then try imagining everything around you either: being flooded by water or being burned down by fire. Then taking that imagination even further to engulf the planet and watching Earth's cycle through the explosion of life everywhere to the death of everything and back again.
