As much as I love random cooking, I thought it would be fun to have my own cooking thread like some others. Nothing fancy, so please don't look for anything gourmet... orz

I am not a great chef, I have never studied cooking, I haven't cooked much, I don't know anything about plating. I just like good-tasting food, experimenting with flavors, and making big messes : ) So I hope everyone enjoys. I'll make a new post for recipes when I update, but I'll also keep them in the OP.

So here we go : )

[size=14]Steak, White Cheddar Pasta, and Salad[/h]

4oz Laura's Lean eye of round steak
Rubbed a little olive oil on these and sprinkled on some salt, pepper, paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, Emeril's Original Essence Seasoning. For some reason they got kind of white like chicken when cooking on the George Foreman (maybe because of the olive oil?), but they turned out nice and juicy. I had left on the fat edges as well (cause I loves me some fat x D) but for these I should've cut it off. Ahh well, still tasty.

Annie's Homegrown Organic Whole Wheat Shells & White Cheddar
Basically followed the instructions on the box. Added some salt, pepper, paprika, tiiiiiny bit of crushed red pepper, and oregano. I added a little butter cause I like it creamy. However...

It calls for a little milk, so I meant to add a 4 tbsp of soy milk....little did I know I accidently picked up the vanilla soy milk, lmaoooooo. It actually turned out good with the red pepper, it was a little spicy and had a sweet taste in the background. My friend had a surprise when he tasted it and thought it was really good : )

Salad

Just mixed greens and spinach topped with a creole honey mustard dressing.

Overall it was a meal that can easily go bland, but ended up more spicy than we thought. Very yummy ❤ ❤

I forgot to put my little name card in the first pic so I hurried up and made a shabby one when I was almost done, lol. I apologize for showing my decimation of my plate ~_~;;

I'm not a big fan of cheese, so many of you might not like these. I do regret not having sour cream though, as I could probably OD on the stuff.

Nothing fancy, just tacos.

Corn tortillas
Lean ground beef seasoned w/ chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, onion, pepper, paprika, and a little salt.
Mixed greens
Red and yellow sweet peppers
Salsa
Black beans sprinked w/ chili powder

I actually learned from this recipe more the ingredients I want to have next time:

More onion
SOUR CREAM : O~~~~
Flour tortillas. Idk, I just like the taste of them better.
Jalapenos


Anywho, hope you like it ^^

Does anyone have an awesome taco recipe? I love suuuper spicy foods (I just haven't gone grocery shopping in a while.) I'm also not opposed to steak, chicken, or fish tacos : )

Chocolate Brownie Caek Cake : O~~

A double-layer chocolate brownie cake with butterscotch whip-cream filling and chocolate buttercream icing. CALORIE CITY but soooooooooo worth it :O~~

It turned out really rich and thicker like a brownie. It stayed moist for almost a week.

But if you do the butterscotch filling remember: REFRIGERATE THE CAKE!!! Pudding and whip cream need to stay cold or they will spoil.

[size=14]Recipe[/h]

Chocolate Cake, batter for two 9-inch layers

Spoiler:
1/2lb butter, softened at room temperature
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 tablespoons cocoa powder (I think I added like 6 b/c I wanted it to be super chocolaty)
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup sour cream (yeah, you read that right)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) cake pans, then line with parchment paper.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and mix until thoroughly combined.
- Into a medium mixing bowl, sift the flour, baking soda and cocoa powder together.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk the buttermilk, sour cream and vanilla together.
While the mixer is on low speed, add the dry ingredients in 3 batches, alternating with the liquid ingredients.
-Divide the cake batter evenly among the 2 prepared cake pans and bake until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean and the edges of the cake just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 30 to 35 minutes.
- Transfer the cakes to a cooling rack and allow the cakes to cool in the pans.
- Carefully remove the cakes from the pans and frost as usual for a layered cake with the Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting.


Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting

The original recipe said to double the ingredients, but those people are crazy b/c I had half a bowl of frosting left just doing it single, and the cake is absolutely smothered.

1 stick of butter, softened
1/4 cup cocoa powder, sifted
8 ounces of cream cheese
1lb of powdered sugar, sifted
2 tablespoons of buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla

- In the bowl of an electric mixer combine the butter, cocoa powder and cream cheese over low speed and mix until thoroughly combined.
- Increase speed to high and cream ingredients until light and fluffy.
- Reduce speed to low and slowly add the powdered sugar, buttermilk, and vanilla.
- Beat until mixture is smooth and thoroughly combined.
- Frost cake as usual.


Butterscotch, Whip Cream Filling

Spoiler:
1 packet of Butterscotch jello pudding w/ milk
A can of extra creamy whip cream

Just make the pudding and as add much whip cream until it's the consistency you'd like.


Anyone that has ever heard me talk about sweets knows that, beyond random cravings because I'm a lady, I'm not really a sweets person. I like crunchy, spicy, and/or deep fried things. Yummmmmm.

And steak.

But I wanted to do something homey and girly to celebrate a special day with my boyfriend for our 6 monthiversary, especially since it's long distance for now x///////x and he would be in town the day after.

He likes chocolate cake and I do kinda like brownies, so I found a recipe for a brownie cake and here is the result.

That cake was freaking delicious. I was nibbling on it way too often, but it was so good I couldn't help myself.

I haven't baked cakes much before, I don't know any fancy decorating crap, but I took a shot at it and hopefully I can learn more about frosting and make things cute and neat.

I know it's not the prettiest, but I swear the taste made up for anything ever. And it was fun to make. And super messy. And he liked it ❤

Anyway, hope you enjoy ❤ ❤

OT: I liked the Taco platter, not too big on the cake, but chocolate really isn't my thing so no fault of your's Circe ^_^

Haha, I've barely posted in here though x-x

I'm planning on cooking more though so hopefully I will put more things in here. I love cooking, but I'm not good at artistic presentation or have any professional knowledge or anything.

I just like eating yummy stuff, lol x D

Nothing special, right? No guys, totally wrong.

I'll do an ingredient list later.

But I will say that this meal was so delicious. So spicy and sweet and just so flavorful. Calus and I were in a total food coma after eating this, and we kept saying, "Circe, why don't you cook more?" because it was so fucking tasty.

This definitely has rekindled my spark of love for cooking <3

For some reason, I can tell from the looks that the last meal you posted is not spicy enough for my tongue, it would be quite spicy, but not enough to burn my tongue, but looks can be deceiving.

Looks nice by the way.
