Dakimakuras anyone?

Yeah, I didn't pick anything up either. I'm pretty sure I saw some Anko, and I think a couple Marks covers pop up on Mandrake though. One look at the price and kept on moving along - still have several that I need to pay for.

Ended up picking up the Anko Charlotte cover as well as Stein's Gate Kurisu cover; Preview or not, the art was good enough to justify grabbing them I suppose. Also picked up that Munyu Rabbit-net cover that sneakily got released a few weeks back.

I worked with the artist and circle over DM and email to get it - totally worth it. It's a strange material. I'm not quite sure what it is exactly, but it's fuzzy and ridiculously soft; sort of like a blanket. :3

Hi, I've just moved to japan for a couple of months (No, I cannot use Japanese that great and English is not my native language). I have entered this hobby for a years and half but after reading this thread I think I still have much to learn.

In my home country I admitted that I fell for the bootleg covers for quite a long time (I think I have about a dozen or more but didn't brought them to japan). And I never aware of that.
But since I'm in japan I decide to learn about dakimakura as much as possible which leads me to here.
After strolling about 50 pages of this thread I have made my decision about buying first online dakimakura and cover properly. I got my first one manually from a circle booth in Reitaisai10 a week ago (It is AJ 2WT so it should be the legit one right?)

I don't even have a 50x150/160 pillow body yet so I think my first order will be AJDHR600
And for the cover I really want is Ikaros from Sora no otoshimono but my favorite seems to be a secondhand in mandarake (most of ikaros cover seems to sold-out)

May I ask that AJDHR600 is worth or not. Is it better much than DHR4000?
And the cover is legit or not? Are there any other Ikaros cover?

Oh the other thing is I have my bank account in japan but I still have to wait a little more to be able to make a credit card. Will this become a problem to order?

You're in a very unique situation, living in Japan; you have far greater access to the shops than any of the other posters here. I'm really happy that you're making use of it by switching from bootlegs to legit covers.

Yeah, if the cover is A&J 2WT it's legit, though I could probably tell you more about it if you knew the circle name/character (I'm assuming a Touhou character?)

I can't vouch for the A&J pillows myself, as I currently don't own one. I'd like to give it a try, but haven't yet. A user in this thread said they were excellent, however, and A&J's 2WT material is considered to be the best, so I wouldn't be surprised if their pillows are just as good. I'd say it's a save bet to buy one of them. I'm not sure of the differences between the "high" and "low" quality of the A&J pillows, but it seems like the more expensive one's casing is A&J 2WT... that seems a bit silly to me since you're going to be putting a case over it anyway. I don't know if there are any other differences.

I've purchased from Mandarake many times, and their items are usually in exceptional quality, if not completely sealed. Unfortunately, after a cover has been sold out by the circle/consignment shops (like Toranoana, D-Stage, etc), the second hand shops are your only option (Mandarake, YJA, K-Books.) There are a few other Ikaros covers out there.

As for the bank account, it's hard to say; no one else in this thread (that I know of) lives in Japan or has a Japanese bank account. I think the standard payment option is a bank transfer, but I don't think you need a credit card to do that. I could be wrong, though. COD (cash on delivery) is a payment option that some stores offer, but not all.

You should make the most of your time there. Many of us in this thread would kill to be in your position; the majority of sites/stores (K-Books, Toranoana, and many others) aren't willing to ship internationally, so we have to spend a lot more money to buy things, because we have to use a proxy.

Anyway, its been quite a while but I'm still collecting my Dakis as usual but I got some disturbing news regarding Anko's and Mark's covers that I got from the recent My bride event.
Mark's health booklet for their covers are now actually censored. But luckily the covers are still the same old goodness, I bought 2 Vivid Yellows, Ayase and Himawari. But Anko's cover shocked me the most, the new Charlotte cover they have was a epic facepalm, the backside is her in a bunny suit without anything in sight, no naughty bits even and the front her vagina is censored. WTF! And I even bought 2 what a waste of moola.

I received my Anko cover today; with it being my first Anko cover I was pretty disappointed. However, I really liked how Sukerevo's Stein's Gate cover turned out, so the two things I did get from the event weren't too bad.

Well, that's incredibly disheartening; anko and Marks have long been the paragons when it comes to explicit covers, I'd hate to see that era ended. As much as it sucks, the paper being censored would be understandable; if you remember the cases that came with the IS/Homura cover a few years ago, they were censored on the case while the actual cover wasn't. The new's about anko's cover is really disturbing, however. I would have been okay (though sad) if they switch to a non-erotic cover, because I really do love anko's work, even if the eroticism is one of the main reasons I buy it... but censoring on an actual cover (assuming you mean mosaic) is absolutely unacceptable. I really hope this was a one time thing, and future efforts won't be censored, but it's going to be tough to know beforehand. I wonder if we'll see a drop in price for future anko works, until someone is able to confirm that status of the goods.

I also wonder if it has something to do with the recent run in they had with their last cover, regarding Bandai and their Panzer series. If that brought more public light to what they had been getting away with for years, it's understandable that they'd want to be careful with the proceedings from then on. Either way, it's a really shitty situation and now I'm not looking forward to the Charl cover as much as I was.

Btw, Zengar, it really has been awhile since I've seen you here. I saw the two Vividyellow's close fairly high with a SMJ account, and I just assumed it was you. I really want that cover myself, but missed out; there was one with a buyout of 18k on the first day, but I had 17.5k buyout remaining after purchasing Charl and Himawari. Was a real bummer to see the price skyrocket after that, especially once I was able to see the full on sample image that Mandarake published. It's still a cover I'd like to pick up, but the going rate is about 30k now. :(

Also glad that I picked up the Kurisu cover, though it will be a few weeks before I get it probably.

Yeah, I always looked forward to Anko's covers even the tamer ones which I grew to accept but I cried inside when I saw mine.

Yeah, even mandarake's Yellow was 30k and bought within the next hour or so.But there's one now up for bid at 18k.
Oh I forgotten to mention I also got myself 2 of Kyonetsu's Sena,Yozora and Kobato cover, sucks it had to be an event cover. But It's really nice.

I'm currently trying to save my relativeky modest amount of limit, because I have a hunch that it is almost time for another Marks mailorder, and having all my limit tied up during they 48 hour window would be killer. I'll have to keeo an eye on it and see how it goes, though. I dont have the Kurisu in hand yet, and the circle never published a true sample image, so I can't really help you there. Regarding the Kyounetsu cover, it is only currently an event exclusive. I'm about 95% certain they've already confirmed it will get a mail order, and if they haven't themselves, it would fit in with their typical policy of releasing it a few months after the event is introduced. Regarding Kyounetsu specifically, I don't believe theg have ever had a cover that remained an event exclusive. It is quite nice though; had though about picking up an event copy but figured I didn't mind waiting.

As far as Kyonetsu is concern I actually look through their site and there's no word from them regarding a mail order but like you said, they usually will have them up.
I got 2 for 20k each though,since I like to use my covers I couldn't wait.

That seems to be the way Marks works, though you never know; they end up doing a ton of variations and it's never a guarantee what they'll do. Just look at the Pretty Cure covers; both Nao and Peace got a ton of variations each, and the mail orders had a mix of clothed/nude pieces.

Yeah, I actually like using my covers now too, but with as many as I have I'm still not in a massive hurry, since I could work my way through a massive backlog if I were looking for something new to put on.

Btw, it really has been awhile since you've been here, so I've been meaning to ask if you won a couple sets of various Marks/anko covers a few months back. Each came in a set of two, and I don't remember exactly what was paired with what, but I remember there being a Mugi, Azusa, Tachibana, the Sora no Otoshimono anko cover, and a few others. I remember the bidding got pretty crazy on the Otoshimono cover. I bid fairly high myself because it looks like it was the event exclusive version. If you won it, were there any major changes to the normal version, or was it just the background that was a bit different?

Yeah, I won the event Mugi/Web order tachibana, Sora no otoshimono/Azusa cover.
All were 2nd hand, while the most of the covers was fine, the Sora cover was badly damaged. Which pissed me off. The bottom portion was scratched rather badly.But I don't know about it, there's a normal and a event version? It looks the same as the first one I bought.

I don't own the anko Azusa yet and want to pick up a copy eventually, and I wanted the Otoshimono cover because of the different background (I'm assuming that's the only difference.) It looks like the page lengths are longer. My first post in this thread was previously the first post on page 3, and now it's near the end of page 2.

Review there, though I'd definitely like to see more pictures, since pillow100 always censors and it's hard to tell what's underneath exactly. It does look like there is a bit of a detail, but definitely not the level that anko usually does. On the plus side, it looks like she's covered up on the backside, which in my opinion, is better than Barbie doll genitalia. Still, it would have been a prime opportunity for anko's usual great backside shots. Such a shame, and I hope it's a one time deal. :(
