Dakimakuras anyone?

Explicit! (General, loli, whatever.)
Evening Call had a really nice Tokisaki Kurumi one back in July which you can't buy anymore due to the limited time availability. ;_;

Yeah, that's the main downside about this hobby. Everything is done on a preorder basis, much like figures. However, since they're more of a niche item, there typically isn't a steady supply of cheap secondhand copies, so it can really fuck you over if the cover you want is older.

So I just got a new dakimakura. Which is this here:
http://myfigurecollection.net/item/120621
and I saw a picture of it without the underpants, so I assumed it was removable. But when I finally got it, I realize there's no other way of removing it other than cutting the underpants off. I checked it to see if it can detach in anyway, but no dice! So I wonder if you guys know anything about these type of dakimakuras? I'm not sure if I can post a link to the dakimakura without the pants because it's basically just lolicon material. I got the pantless dakimakura off their site somewhere I forgot, basically it still uses their censorship with stars, heh.

I don't have any experience with the type of cover, unfortunately.
But the producer is Chara-Ani, and they're mostly known for doing ecchi stuff, so for them to have a loli with exposed breasts was pretty surprising. My guess is that the panties are there just to add some novelty to the cover, and obviously aren't designed to be removed.

Ah, that make sense! Thanks for that. I notice the underpants are sewn not on the body of Natsuha (the loli character) itself. I thought about cutting them off, lol..but that would ruin the dakimakura.

Cool as expected. Congratulation on many rares you manage to get. If I remember correctly, spending day one in corporate booth zone is the right thing to do because it is yaoi day (Correct me if I am wrong).
I expect that you also participate in day2-3 but I suppose there were much more intense that you are having hard time to take a pictures.
I did not have a trip to tokyo this time.Planning on saving up for C86 but I am still looking for any interesting goods that happen to come to some nearby anime shop here (I even manage to get clesta cover from a normal second-hand shop).
Ps. I saw you asking about shipping that tenryuu/tatsuta umbrella internationally. JP post can do it just fine (that green or orange post office) but never expect them to understand english (or maybe they do since you are in tokyo?).

Yeah day 3 was really hectic and had no time at all for pics, so only have posted up my loot in the end:
http://www.figure.fm/en/post/51889/Comiket+Day+3+Loot.html
For Day 2 I had quite some free time, so managed to get a lot of cosplay pics taken too:
http://www.figure.fm/en/post/51873/Comiket+Day+2+Cosplay+and+a+little+loot.html
For JP Post, do I need to bring things in already boxed, or can they provide boxes and insulation on the site? If not (which is what I'm assuming), where should I go to get a decent sized box to fit a long umbrella and to get some insulation (ideally bubble wrap, but I guess I could just use old newspapers too). Though I could just insulate it with dakimakura covers and anime flyers from comiket lol...

I'd imagine they'll probably have boxes on hand, but you might have to pay a fee to package stuff there. I obviously have no experience though, and I don't think it's like Taiwan where the boxes seem to be provided (those bird boxes are quite nice.)
I'll admit, I'm mostly quoting this post to link this to you: http://blog.livedoor.jp/cho_tekitou/archives/36069253.html
Can definitely see why there was such a craze for this cover, even if it's mostly due to Shimakaze being absurdly popular.

Yeah it's definitely a really nice cover of her. Though character design wise I think my favourites are Kongou, Kaga and Tenryu.

I'm really partial to Haruna and Hibiki, though there are a lot of characters I like a lot too: Atago, the subs, Isuzu, Shimakaze, Zuikaku, and so on. I don't think there are many girls that I flat out dislike.

Shimakaze is absurdly popular, still, most of her covers are surely awesome. My favorite is not base on character design though, I am playing it so I prefer ship girls which I have own in game lol.
JP post do have box if you prefer buying the official package, should have the one that big enough . But personally, the 100 yen shop (daiso and alike) have got everything you need, like bubble warp or a paper box.
Oh and happy new year everyone. Wish you guys a plenty of happiness, and daki covers.

Thanks, I'll have a look in 100yen shops. I'll ask the hotel staff where the nearest one is, or is there a particular one/branch you'd recommend?
And a Happy New Year to you too! And to everyone here!

It's usually similar to each other so I guess anywhere is fine. Still, I am not living in Tokyo so I recommend asking too.

Hiya. Joining the thread :).
I've bought a dakimakura pillow from Hobbyheart 150x50 (filling and not cover) and used it for 2 years now. I'm looking for a new one because the one is pretty much flat now, would like one with a good filling.

Hi, welcome to the thread!
If you live in the US, people have said that royal pillow ( http://www.royalpillow.com/body-pillows.asp ) make quite good pillows at very reasonable prices. I believe it was the cluster fiber type people recommended, but I may be mistaken.
If not in the US, then I'd recommend checking local stores that might provide pillows first.. you're likely to be able to find a not too expensive one relatively easily. But if you did want to order one from japan, the A&J line are all great ( http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=CGD2-09761&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_maker%3DA+%26+J%24pagemax%3D20%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1 -- out of stock.. try checking Hobby Search too, I can't as it is forcing me to the japanese site atm and I cba finding a proxy to fool it that I'm not in japan..) and I believe even have a zip opening to allow one to add more filling as desired to it (this may not be in every variant of A&J pillow). A&J are one of the top dakimakura cover makers (and my personal favourite) and from all accounts their pillow bodies are equally high quality. Though you will end up having to pay a very large amount for shipping a pillow (near to the cost of the pillow itself, often..).

I bought a A & J from plamoya 160 one but the damm 150 never gets restocked sadface, but i have ordered a new one yesterday from a reasonable price :)

Nice looking good! I ended up finding an older Syroh cover at Denkigai and got that, then passed on the new one this comiket as a result.. Also, Shashin has just texted me that he got lost on his way back to his hotel... we may never see him in this thread again!

It took me about half an hour walking around stations to find my way back. I couldn't rememberthe exact name of my stop on tthe subway, so I had no idea which line to take. Finally found my way and left my subway exit, only to travel the wrong direction initially. Was after about 4 blocks that I realized it was the wrong way so I went back. On the plus side I found a supermarket I think. Your umbrella completely broke, btw; was fairly windy and it reversed itself, pointing upward. When I tried to close it, a few of the rods were bent.
