Dakimakuras anyone?

Well I guess I should plan on going in December then. I'd like to book my flight sooner rahter than later. With that said, is there any way to know for sure when Comiket will hit? And would anyone be interested in going with me?
Also, I'm totally bummed I missed out on these two:
http://www.bwstore.com.tw/index.php?action=product&do=prd_detail&id=90
http://www.bwstore.com.tw/index.php?action=product&do=prd_detail&id=59
Especially that second one. ( 0_0)

Yeah, the second one sold on Boncool again just a few months ago; I was going to pick it up myself, but didn't have the money at the time. :(
And I'd love to go, but without an absolutely steady source of income and my terrible spending habits, I doubt I'd be able to save enough money in time to take the trip. D:

I'm already going in April so I think 2 trips in one year is a bit too much for me :( Maybe next year though! If you do go, can we unload shopping lists on you to frantically search for at Comiket?!1 Also pm me if you are sure you're going and I'll give you some general advice on attending comiket, akihabara etc..

We need to just rotate events, have 1-2 people go a year, and have them pick up all the goodies for us. Would allow us all to buy more instead of spending it on proxy fees/ridiculous YJA markup. :3

Unfortunately a single person won't be able to achieve all that much. It would only really work on items which everyone wants, and even then often not since they only sell a limited number of copies to a single person (you can queue a 2nd time to buy them again, but you are obviously not queuing for something else you want at that point then). It does work for unpopular things though which still have stock by the end of the day, but most of the popular things sell out in the first few hours (by 12 or 1pm usually). Corporate booths tend to have a bit more stock than that, but still often sell out of popular items in the first day.
Still, one person being there might be able to acquire 1 or 2 items for other people to save some costs. And assuming I do attend one in 2013 I'll be happy to try and get anything other people want, with no guarantees on success of course.
And back on the topic of dakimakura... ordered that cute foxgirl (the version without silicone implants), and my comiket purchases are preparing for shipping to me now, yay! I hope Clochette is slow with putting Fuuka up for order from their webshop so my wallet has some time to recover :(

Hmm, but it's not really a win-win situation considering the cost of flying to and fro Japan plus food and lodging.
Speaking of Clochette, did ja see Mishio is going up for 19k currently and still going. Damn glad I was able to pre-order the box, which is now in SMJ's warehouse already. Once my 2nd Fuuka comes in, I'll have it shipped with my Sena and Sofmap box.
Come to think of it, the fox girl with boobs, the material I've never heard of it. maybe one of my Dakimakuras is made of it, I dunno, but anybody know how it feels like?

Lol true, but comiket aside, going to japan is great fun and worth the expense alone. This'll be my third time going this April, I'm going at that unusual time as I'm combining it with a trip to the Philippines for attending my grandmother's 90th birthday, as the increase in travel costs isn't too high then (though still accomodation of course).
Ah I hadn't been checking prices on it, glad I got it on the preorder price too then as she really looks lovely and 19k for only the daki without the other extras is really more than I can justify paying. I'll probably not be having it shipped until Carnelian's daki arrives too, which is meant to be "Mid January" whenever that will end up being.
Hmm the boob foxgirl material is 2WAY Tricot (Spandex) and searching on the blog for just spandex gives the following: http://blog.埋もれる抱ãæž•er.jp/?s=%E3%82%B9%E3%83%91%E3%83%B3%E3%83%87%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9 So perhaps it's similar to that used by Evening Call? Also on the later pages, they have a bunch listed as "Roica (polyester+spandex)" so maybe it's like Roica too? I'm not really sure :< There doesn't seem to be any direct match for 2way tricot (spandex).
Or if anyone has any of INSERT's dakimakura it may be the same material as those, since those have the same manufacturer too http://blog.埋もれる抱ãæž•er.jp/?s=%E3%82%A2%E3%82%B5%E3%83%92%E3%82%A4%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%8A%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%8A%E3%83%AB (Asahi International manufacturer search).
Moeyo has some pics of that lovely Axia Sousou daki too from Comiket http://www.moeyo.com/2012/01/comike81_cospanion_axia.html

But I doubt there's a relation with the materials because most 2WT is a blend of 2 materials and spandex is existent in all types, guess I'll take the plunge and find out, buy one of each.
Oh and Just lawl at the picture of the girl hugging her at the booth.
Too bad, I prefer Ryuubi and Kanu more.

Honestly, materials are overly complicated for no apparent reason. Evening Call previously used Pearl Roika, which is apparently just another name for Seiren 2WT (I've seen it used interchangeably on a few sites.)
On the Comiket note, obviously a lone person wouldn't be able to cater to all the needs and wants everyone else here is sure to have, but we'd still have a good deal of overlapping tastes in some areas, so the person would be able to pick up some stuff as they went about shopping for themselves. The buying limit would pose a problem for the more popular items that we all may want, but I'm sure if we ever had the opportunity, we could figure something out that leaves everyone happy. But yeah, I doubt anyone here would expect one person to acquire everything for them that they may want, but even one item not at a ridiculous YJA price would be money spent elsewhere.

Looks Like I be in a corner then. I absolutely have to get 2 of every daki I own, if possible. So I'll probably just screw everyone over.
Either way just want to know if Seiren 2WT is that shiny 2WT that Ankokubu and Marks used for their 2WT dakimakuras?

Well, if you were the one in Japan, you'd obviously attend to your own needs first. But if someone else were willing to do the shopping, we'd probably have to agree on limits if more than one person wants a cover (and you'd have to buy your second on YJA), or mutually agree on "I'll pass on this if you pass on this" type of thing... or I guess bribing the person in Japan works, too. ;p
I don't think so; the company Anko used was P80, but I couldn't say for Marks. Off the top of my head, the materials feel different but without doing a direct comparison right now, I can't do better than that.

ROFL. Thing is the queues get notoriously long at the more popular booths, it's hard to accommodate other people when you're desperately fighting your own war there.
My Nodoka (IG) seems to share the same features as Marks and Anko's 2WT. Shiny and smooth and a very slight feel of gaps on the material. Was IG's done by P80 as well?

Yeah, IG uses P80 too, or maybe "used" would be the better word... >_>

Yeah, if and when I do wind up going to Japan, I'll see about taking some shopping requests. I can't say that I want to stand in long ass lines for anyone though. Heck, not even if you guys were blood relatives would I want to deviate from my personal path of excitement, spending, hoarding, and consuming. No, I think that I would just be too overwhelmed and want to absorb as much of everything as I possibly could.
Anyhow, I was hoping that someone could tell me if my new Lilith cover (squeeee) is also supposed to come with a poster: http://www.lilith-soft.com/net-shop/goods/lgd-02.php
I see that it comes with an audio CD, but wasn't sure about the poster.
I ordered through Getchu:

Yeah no mention of the poster on Getchu so it's probably a lilith-shop exclusive to make people buy it from there. That's pretty common for webshops which also let the main stores sell their goods. E.g. the Axia sousou dakimakura from the Axia store comes with a telephone card while has no card from Amiami/HS/HLJ.

Quick question -
So now that I have owned my first daki (posted a page or two in this thread),
I'd like to know what's a good basis on starting collecting daki? Where should I start? Websites? Learning about quality of the daki. I'd find I'd be an interesting hobby to start collecting it.
Any suggestions would help a lot. Thanks.

The most useful website for collecting dakimakura is http://blog.埋もれる抱ãæž•er.jp/ which gives info on all the upcoming releases (many require a proxy service to get though as they won't ship internationally). http://ww.nijigenshingu.info/makura/log/index.html is also good, and has info on other cloth products as well (tapestries/normal pillow cases).
Shops like www.amiami.com www.1999.co.jp/eng/ www.hlj.com www.otacute.com etc all stock some dakimakura, though they tend to be ones based on anime which are usually lower quality images (done according to anime character designs which are simple due to the need of being animated..). Though lately they've been getting some by proper artists in stock too. They go by different names in different shops, so try searching "huggable pillow" or "hugging pillow" if "dakimakura" doesn't give results.
Yahoo Japan Auctions, Mandarake, and possibly Rakuten Auctions are useful places to check for dakimakura you can't find at a store or webform (either because they're no longer in stock or were never available except via special events in the first place). You will need to learn some copy-pasting of stuff from the above dakimakura blog in order to find what it is you want. If you ask for help on specific dakimakura info we'll be happy to help you with finding it of course.

Yeah, the blog willowywicca posted is by far the best place I've found to keep up to date one what's releasing. If there's a particular cover you're looking for, from a series or character, I'd google the name, pull up the Wikipedia page, copy the Japanese characters for the name/show, and then pop it into the blog's search bar in the top right hand corner; depending on the popularity of the item, you'll usually get a good number of results and it will give you an idea of what's available.
The blog also gives you a great amount of information, including the price it sold at (or is selling at if still available), the material used, where it's selling at, and so on. Entries will usually have a date range which signifies when an item was/is available for preorder.
It's a great site just to browse and see what's available, but click on the sample images provided will usually take you right to the product's page, so if an item is still available for preorder, you'll know exactly where to order from. Buy covers that are no longer available for preorder can be a bit more difficult, especially if it was really popular or came out a few years ago. But YJA and Mandarake are probably the best two options for searching; you'd need a proxy for YJA, but a large number (unfortunately not all) of items can available on Mandarake can be ordered through their English site.
Your mileage with sites like Hobby Search and AmiAmi will definitely vary. It's how a lot of people start out, and I can't speak for anyone else, but I almost never order from them at all anymore. AmiAmi has been getting a lot better recently, even having some covers from the last few Comiket sessions, but even so all the covers these sites carry generally stem from a company of some sort versus smaller circles.

So pissed - need to vent. Someone just bumped that C81 Touhou cover I was bidding on: went from 14K this morning, with me being the high bidder up to 20K, to 21K now. Uuugh. Was totally hoping that I wasn't going to get into a bidding war on this one, let alone have it exceed 20K. Goddammit. ( '-_-)
