Dakimakuras anyone?

Ah right I remember that one. Hmm, polyester suede (as used by Chara-Ani) I would say is similar to peach skin, while polyester twill is not. It's not really shiny, has a small bit of stretch, but is rather rough to the feel and even on the eyes, the texture of the material is noticeable from a reasonably far distance. It's also a bit thicker than the smooth knit cospa uses, since it doesn't show through the reverse side to nearly the same extent as their smooth knit does.
However after a single glance at the daki once it arrived I instantly thought "right, never getting the twill version from cospa again" as the rough surface texture is just too visible to me at even a moderate range let alone up close (if using it in a bed).

Ah, fair enough. I just know that I don't bother with Chara-Ani/Cospa/most covers on Hobby Search/AmiAmi anymore. There were very few over the years that I was pleased with; most were from Eco or C:Drive (I'm thinking... it's been so long.) Though I am please that AmiAmi is starting to add more covers that aren't from the big companies.

Whoa diehard...? Speak for yourself you big jerk. This is the worst thread ever! And who is this "new guy?"
No, I'm totally kidding. I <3 Shashin...in a totally straight, internet friend way. ;)
But yeah, Evzlol, call them up, man. Who gives a shit what they think. You're giving them business. I doubt they'll be judgmental. Hell, I'll call and get some information for you if you'd like.

They say they don't ship to internationally, though. So unless they're willing to ship to Canada, he'd be screwed. :(

People this nice exist? Lol jp but in actuality ya I'm screwed regardless because they don't ship to Canada. Punished for living in another Country I guess! I'm still looking, I even drove up to wal-mart and they only had like 137cm ones >_>
I'll just have to keep looking is all.
I wish I knew what filling I should be looking for too, like the one I got is random crappy cotton or something >_>, its like I'm material illiterate. It's like feathers/polyster so confusing
Btw I very much appreciate getting all the replies/help

No worries, wish I could be of more help when it comes to finding a pillow. :(
I've heard a lot of people buy the best available pillow they can find, and then use a rolled up towel or something to fill up the remaining end. It is by no means ideal, and you should definitely pursue a better option. However, if you wanted to use a case at the moment, it may be a somewhat viable option until something better rolls around.

i got one of my 160cm pillows and used the filling to stuff my daki but man is it a hassle. it works really well but it takes forever to transfer filling from one daki to the other (_ _)m

Evzlol, just as suggested, you can just buy the 137x50 one and then fill it up. What I do is buy another square or rectangular pillow and use that at the bottom. Since the small pillows are much easier to find in various sizes, it is a better option.
Most of the time, you won't care about the bottom of the dakimakura, so it actually isn't a big deal.
Just like you want, what I prefer is to buy a thicker 137 body pillow. Then buy a larger normal pillow that is about double the size you need to fit the bottom, and then fold that pillow in half to make it thicker. If done correctly, it is not too noticeable in feel. Unless you are leaning it against a wall and having it stand up for decoration (where it may tend to fold a bit, unless done right or you have the correct sizes and thickness), that's actually the best way to do it if you can't find the right 150-170cm in length body pillows.
Of course, the other option is to buy some of the overpriced ones from shops like hobby search where some people claim they are great. I'm not sure where you bought yours, but ebay has some too and are reasonably priced, but shipping is expensive. Actually, there used to be a seller in Canada that sold pillows strictly, but I don't know if that seller is still around.
Or if you don't mind the cost and really want some good stuffing, have someone here help you out. They can purchase a thick one from royalpillow and have it reshipped to you lol.

That last idea is kinda good >_> Although hopefully such a solution isn't insanely expensive.
I initially tried the whole 137 cm + adding one but I was getting annoyed just at the fact that it was 2 pillows... Pretty lame I know.
I found this site but It's starting to look like they don't ship to Canada either lol

Not to mention I don't even know what materials to use

Hey everyone, Thought I'd share pics from one of the covers I recently purchased from B&W Store: http://www.bwstore.com.tw/index.php?action=product&do=prd_detail&id=72

WHO ARE YOU!!!*heaves heavily*
Anyway, here's your bible son, study it well.

They cover news for the latest updates in the dakimakura business and they typically have a link to the maker's site, where you can either get a deputy service to buy for you or some will allow foreigners to buy directly from them like B and W store, Boncool and Evening Call.
As for your pillow issue, I recommend getting either of this if you're willing to shell out the cash:
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10088801
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10148572
The 2nd option is what I use because it's cheap and allows the replacement of filling to your liking. Also comes in 1.6M configuration unlike the first.
The first one apparently makes you feels heavenly. But unfortunately is pricier, fillings cannot be added or replaced and comes only in 1.5m configuration.
Both Pillows are very high quality though. SOme people complain A&Js is not as thick as the dream master. But personally, if the pillow is way to thick, it's hard for me to hug it.
One reason I don't recommend any other foreign pillows is simply because of the fact that the threads can ooze out of the pillow after a period of used, some of the filling are naturally abrasive on your covers, which can lead to nicks even if you swear that you never clawed it with your nails.

I shall be your new bestfriend! Anyway, thanks so much for the links, I feel bad for coming here out of nowhere and just asking away with all my questions but it seems almost all my problems are now solved!
Now my search for a Noble Works cover shall begin to go with the room accessories and theme of my computer! http://postimage.org/image/728344dhx/
How are the covers from Cospa? I ordered a custom one from Hobbyheart 2way but its like, it looks all stretched out and I noticed that happening like even from the first day of having it.

You should just stick with Cospa's official release, they used a very good and strong material that feels quite smooth but extremely resilient to scratches. Bootlegs used Peachskin normally and those typically used a copied image that too small in size, so it's upscaled , which is why it looks crappy.

Well, like I got hobbyheart to use their 2 way tricot and I sent them the image to use, it was big enough and all that. It looked great like as I took it out of the package, just over acouple days the material started to look weird.. let me take a picture with my phone!

That like me putting my phone up close and taking a picture (obviously) but ya even though the image quality isn't the best, I hope you can see what's going on >_>
I haven't even had it for a month.
Holy crap, looking to order that pillow and it's freaking like 50$ to ship

There's a whole bunch of Noble Works covers still available on YJA for varying prices: http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/search?p=%E3%80%8C%E3%81%AE%E3%83%BC%E3%81%B6%E3%82%8B%E2%98%86%E3%82%8F%E3%83%BC%E3%81%8F%E3%81%99+%E6%8A%B1%E3%81%8D%E6%9E%95%E3%82%AB%E3%83%90%E3%83%BC&auccat=&aq=-1&oq=&ei=UTF-8&slider=0&tab_ex=commerce
Normally I'd warn that anything in the 5k price region is likely a bootleg, but neganebulous is a legit seller from what I can tell and he's selling one of them at 5k so perhaps that one was originally cheaper or is just unpopular and likely isn't a bootleg. Having trouble finding out what the full size of that one looks like though, it doesn't seem to be on the dakimakura blog at all (there's another one of the same character on it only).
You will need to use a proxy service company to bid on YJA though, who will have it sent to them in japan, and then ship it on to you for a fee.
Yeah that looks pretty bad on that cover :< I guess they just used a really cheaply put together material that has no durability. I have some bootleg japanese 2way tricot ones I got from YJA which haven't had that issue (though have coloration issues instead).
Nice pics Kobun!

Then Yokatta should work, right? They have a fairly reasonable auction commission, if not the best.
Man, had I known you didn't know about the dakimakura blog, Evzlol, it would have been the first thing I linked. It's easily the best resource we have at our disposal in finding out what covers are coming out; it's also very handy to search for covers of a particular character/series by copying the Japanese name (from Wikipedia or something) and pasting it into the search bar.
If you want to get into legit covers more and have the money to spend, I highly recommend circle covers over Cospa (and similar) covers. I personally feel the quality is a lot higher (some may disagree) and don't buy too many covers from companies anymore, unless I really like the character featured.
As mentioned, YJA is where we do most of our shopping, as well as the few sites mentioned that will ship internationally. http://dakemakura.com/ will also ship internationally, apparently, and they have a shit load of covers (like 700, I think.)
If you do end up buying stuff on Yahoo, feel free to ask here before hand if you're worried about bootlegs; some are hard to spot, but we should be able to help you avoid any until you get a better handle on it for yourself if you decide to make this an excessive hobby.
