Dakimakuras anyone?

Ya I really appreciate all stuff you guys have shown me. Definitely don't want to waste anymore money on crappy products (like the pillow and even the cover I got). Kinda sucks that to order from these places its like 50$ shipping, I was all for getting that 100$ pillow but 50$ shipping makes me pretty sour.

That's pretty much the reason I only have one body pillow and maybe 200 dakimakura covers. >_>
I have no problem dropping $500 on one cover (okay, maybe I do, but I do it anyway >_>), but the shipping on pillows is ridiculous. I waited until AmiAmi ran a half off shipping campaign, and it still ran 2400 yen to ship along with a few dakimakura covers.

I use Shopping Mall Japan and Yokatta Web.
SMJ is one of the better choices for people in the US, but it's not quite as good for those that aren't. They have a shitty exchange rate but it mostly evens out commission wise with other services. It actually might not be a bad idea for Canada, but I don't know if they'd ship directly from Japan to you or to the US first; that's the main draw of the system for US buyers. They ship everything in batches (with other people's stuff) to their US office, and then ship to you from there, saving a bit on shipping. They have a fairly nice user interface that allows you to track the status of all your items, and you have 14 days to pay from the time you're invoiced (you have to put in a deposit, either a credit authorization or a cash deposit through Paypal, which increases your limit by 5x what you send in cash.)
Yokatta's service is a lot simpler, since they don't have a user interface and everything is done through emails. I'd argue that their non auction (so no YJA) rates are some of the best; if you wanted to order directly from a circle, Yokatta would probably be the way to go. You send them an email with the link of what you want to buy, they get back to you, you send the money, they order it for you and email when it comes in, then you could either combine stuff with other orders (they'll store for 3-4 months) or pay for shipping then.
Those are the two I use, and I don't have much experience with any others.

God I hate asking so many questions >_>
Do you think like a proxy service but for buying stuff from the states and then getting it shipped to canada would cost very much? I mean like for example buying a pillow from royal pillow but can't get it shipped to myself?
Also thanks for this links.. I was using tokyo-hunter but they like ignore half of my requests >_>
You guys are truly life savers right now lol

SMJ recently started a proxy service for US orders. Honestly, the biggest problem with ordering from RoyalPillow will probably be shipping. From what BluRay told me, they don't air seal their covers, so that would be a really long box, which would contribute to a high shipping cost. The actual commission probably wouldn't be too bad.
Their rates are:
But once you factor in shipping to their office and then to you, it could be pretty hefty if they don't shrink down the pillows.

$5.00 per order -or- 10%, whichever is higher.

You can always compile all of your questions into one post and dump them. That is, until new questions arise.

I've returned! Did anyone miss me? No? Oh well.
I ended up getting some Moefudo covers. :3 Shashin knows since I always talk to him.:
Links here: WOO!
I finally found the Patchy cover I've been looking for since August. :3
http://www.w-canvas.com/products/detail.php?product_id=27779
and Mokou, bought it sort of impulsively, but that expression on the second side, plus full nude. OMG. I CAN'T WAIT TO RAP... I mean HUG HER!
http://www.w-canvas.com/products/detail.php?product_id=34464
Also, regarding Royal Pillow. They'll fold your pillow in half after putting it in a plastic bag. It's loose and they dont' air seal it, so expect it to be the size of a typically large storage box. It'll cost somewhere around the ballpark of 10 dollars if you get it shipped domestically.

So I just want to tell you guys that I love this thread. It has a great mix of people who are already collecting and those that want to start collecting that have questions. No matter what level of experience the people in this thread have, I'm glad that it has always maintained a positive outlook.
I just dug up the thread I originally started posting in for dakimakura covers (around the time this thread was created, but before I found it), and it was depressing; people were pretty much attacked by other users for collecting. I'm glad I found this thread, and I'm glad it has continued to grow.

Ha! I know that this is off topic but I just noticed the black-out bar at the top of the page. Way to go FAKKU!

Yeah, seems to be the favored method of protesting SOPA since Google went with that. I was just browsing Twitter regarding the Wikipedia blackout, and it makes me realize about 90% of people are fucking retarded:

Haha those tweets are amazing ;(
You're awesome too Zengar! Without you making the thread we'd all be wandering aimlessly without ever finding our fellow dakimakura lovers to hang out with ;(
Edit: Oh yeah I forgot to say, about proxy services I've been using Sutocorp when bidding on auctions, since they had a better fee than SMJ for me (being in Ireland not the US). With changes in exchange rates they're not that much better now though I think. They charge 8% fee (of everything including international shipping which has to be by EMS - if you weren't planning to ship that way it may not be that good a deal for you).
For webshop purchases I now use Yokatta since their fee just can't be beat really.

I'm a EMS man through and through, don't want those expensive goods getting lost, do we?

Yeah, I'm also a fan of EMS. I want my stuff ASAP! However, I effin' hate when I miss a package due to the fact that I am at the office and not at home, leaving me unable to sign for the package. And I'll be damned if I'm having a cover or some other hentai-esque item delivered to my office. What if someone mistakenly opened it? I don't give a rip who you are, that would be so damn embarrassing.
Fortunately, Rikya now provides an option for FedEx shipping, and I've been selecting it over EMS. If I do miss a delivery I can pick it up at the FedEx dispatch office which is like 15 min from my house and stays open until 7PM on weeknights. Plus their tracking system is far superior. Bonus!
Also, see Evzlol, just posted those pics late last night, and that post is already buried. Gotta' stop putting so much time into those posts. ( '-__-)

Well, my post office here allows me for one day self pick up or request for a redelivery if I missed it. So no problems with EMS here.

Yeah, I prefer EMS, though I've been using DHL for smaller (inexpensive) Mandarake packages; mostly for things like doujinshi or a few cheap covers. Can't be the roughly 24-36 hour delivery frame. It's a bit cheaper than EMS, but the downside is no insurance.
