Oh yes, people treat me very weird, actually people treat me weird in general for being an otaku in the first place. I am quite literally cut off from American music, my switch from iPhone to Galaxy S2 has completely radicalized my library which now has one single rule "no American". What I hate more though, is K-pop fanatics giving me flak for listening to J-pop, anime music, and Vocaloid. I mean, shouldn't we be in the same boat? Apparently its acceptable in American society to listen to K-pop but not nearly as acceptable to listen to Japanese music?
I once got flak for listening to the Soviet National Anthem, but maybe thats because that in itself is weird

No one has looked at me funny or call me weird, cause no one has heard the music or asked me about it. My friends are all open minded, good people plus they're all into anime. Hell one of my friends introduced me to vocaloid songs like hold release it had another name, but I can't remember, conhita, fear garden, popipo... That is one weird video.

I always try to hide to other people that I listen to J-music since yeah reality many people here in my place seems to say its weird, just to keep me away from being stigmatized so yeah I kinda hide the fact that I listen to it. But hey that ain't stoppin me from listening to these great pieces.

I usually hang out with people who also listen to japanese music and such, but there have been people who couldnt understand why i listen to it or why i'd enjoy it. I usually try to avoid listening to it in public places without headphones, but i dont care if they think im wierd. I enjoy my music just like everyone else.

They don't really give a fuck when I'm listening to J-songs. Well, some people did stares and sometimes ask if I like it because I know the meaning though.

I have friends that also like Japanese music, and since I don't really have neighbours I'm able to listen to my music quite loud at any time of the day.
Of those that don't like Japanese music, they don't particularly care for it since I listen to many different cultures, namely Japanese music, German Rap etc. etc.

well yes, they keep asking me, can you understand the song?
or why do you keep listening on it? or something similar to that

People think I'm insanely weird because I listen to Japanese Screamo (undead corporation/Draw the emotional/Foreground Eclipse/Utsu -P etc.) When they ask me why I listen to it I reply because unlike crap here, their songs have actual very deep meaning, and they aren't about sex or drugs! WOW! Plus I almost hate rap with a passion. Linkin Park is the closest thing to Rap that I listen to. My parents can't understand why I like it. I personally don't care about anybody's opinion so they can dis all they want. That's what the volume + button is for.
Oh, and I don't understand a single word of it except for a little bit of the English and Engrish. To me Japanese syllables are almost another instrument.

When i first started listening to J-pop my parent's did give me the weird look and say "do you at least understand it?" of course i replied with a no. Other people did give me a couple weird looks but after some time people just thought of it as a regular thing, My parents still don't agree with my like of Japanese culture but they don't bother me about it anymore. I do still get a weird look if someone over hears it through my headphones.

I have yet to see why one language would hold superiority over the other.
Perhaps, my experience would differ, because I listen to the same genres as I do in English, German, and French, but I get about 25% for people reacting positively.
The majority of my Japanese music is Osakan (Osaka-jin? People from that island...) Punk Rock. I could give a fuck about the language, the scene over there is just fucking sweet. The ones who stuck with the subculture are still full on, and that warms my heart.
(If somebody tries to give me shit, I just ask them why English is a superior language, and turn on one of the others I mentioned.)

People look at me weird and even say stuff like "Why the hell do you even do that" when I tell them I listen Japanese music and it bothers me because hey, I don't say anything about the trash you listen to.
And when they see my mobile screen then look at me even weirder cause it's mostly the The GazettE and some actually stopped talking to me when I told them that they were guys.

Yeah, people used to rag on me for listening to Japanese music. Not that much anymore. What bugged me the most was that they'd ask "why do you listen to it if you don't understand it?" Well, it's music. It's sound. You don't have to understand the lyrics to enjoy how the song sounds. That always kinda got on my nerves.

Not personally, though I don't tend to listen to it without headphones. But most of my friends are also anime geeks so of course they don't see anything wrong with it

I love listening to all different genres of music including Jpop. My family thinks Im weird for listening to songs I dont really understand, but something about Jpop keeps me addicted, so I dont really care what they think. I cant help it that I enjoy listening to japanese music.
