Ethernet Cable Help!!?
0
Hey guys,
Recently my Cat 5e Ethernet Cable in my powerline short circuited so I went to buy a new one which I got a Cat 6 - It worked but the problem I had after plugging it into my powerline was that I keep losing broadband connection every so often..
So I went back and bought a few Cat 6 Ethernet cables and exchange all my old Cat 5e with Cat 6 (Router, powerline etc) ..All was well but when I booted up my computer there was this message which I've never seen before (Didnt take a pic) but it only appeared once so I ignored it.
Sorry for such a long back-story but basically my question is
1) Do I need to install or update anything when I put new Ethernet cables or is it just Plug and Go?

it should plug and go.
the short circuiting may have caused damage to your powerline or your ethernet port on your PC. just see how things go.
if any problems occur, try using a different powerline/ethernet port

Powerline adapters are plug and play. It would be helpful to post the powerline adapter you are using. I would suggest going to the manufacturers website and look at their troubleshooting steps.
Ex. Netgear Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting steps I recommend:
Try different outlet on both ends
See if it has any error indicators on the adapter itself
