I want a tablet but have low budget!

Tablets are getting pretty affordable these days. I figured I'd pick up an android soon and use it as my media and game device while leaving my phone as the day planner, notes, and PDA. (My phone barley has storage space for both and it's a cluttered mess.)
So for those who have used Android tablets, which ones would you recommend to someone with no more than $120 to spend on such things.

You can get an Amazon fire tablet, and if you know what your are doing you can root and unlock the bootloader and run a custom ROM as the fire tablet don'y come with Google play.
The other chose will be Samsung galaxy tab.
These are what i picked form looking at Amazon.
Without knowing the american market, am form the UK so if you post some website/tablet that i can look at i can give you more of a feedback.
Plus you can wait for someone who is from america to post.

Really depends on what you want to do with it and what rez you want.
Amazon fires are nice but the resolution is shit. Dell venue 8 is slow, but nice screen. I like the Galaxy tab but it's 199$. My sister has a nook and it ok.

The Samsung galaxy tab 4 7" is about $149 from amazon.
The fire HD ($99) is 1280x800 but the fire HDX ($179) is 1920x1200
But she want to spend $120 which will only get you a rez of 1280x800, not unless she goes for a secondhand tablet or an older model of tablets

Honestly? I have an old (2011-ish) Asus tablet that I got on clearance and it still works great. I don't really use it that much anymore, but it still handles games and chrome which is what I mostly use it for. If you are just going to play basic games (Humble Mobile Bundle and most of the Play store) you are probably fine with just about anything. You can get a micro/SD for extra storage for movies and music, not to mention Netflix and other streamers that don't need space.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" 16gb 199.99 bestbuy. New not Refurbished. Why buy 1280p when 2560p is crisper for 50$more.

169$ used. Mine was 209$ but they threw in a 64gb mSD card for free because i low balled the price. The store will give anything at amazon price if lower. Just have to pay a little hardball.

the asus me102A
is a very good budget tablet with a HD screen.
it can run almost any current apps, games, ect
only under full load the video's in VLC will have a little lagg of 1s
for the rest its a good tablet.
restart it each 3 days to keep it in optimal health and remove useless resources.
it current price is 170$
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ME102A-A1-PK-10-1-Inch-Tablet-Cherry/dp/B00IAA2EY2
buy a offical flip-case for it for more sturdyness.
the only downside is the usb-data transfer to the internal micro sd is a bit slow.
so removing the sd is handy for faster data transfer to it.
if you plan on rooting the device later, be warned there arn't many working methods yet.
its a very good tablet for a budget model.
in the past 1.5 year that i have it i havent gotten any problem with it.
its still runnin like a charm.
battery time for video under vlc with minimum brightness is 10-11 hours max

*update on my previous post*
try looking into tablets from china.
they have high-specs for low price (some even have win10-android dualboot)

1 thing to be warned:
always look at reviews of the tablets on other sites, since some are really bad quality
and some are better than good.
(the bad ones are mostly called rotten apples)
