Preordered myself a box just in time... Price just rised to $120, and will be $140 when it releases in my area to those who didn't preorder. only paid $100 *phew*. Anything specific really standing out to you? Me and my friends were in awe of the Planeswalkers, I proved my friend wrong with the shocklands, I'm really loving detain, and my friend's interested in scavenge and populate.

As someone else who is new to MTG I agree with your friend and recommend sticking with booster packs and stuff until after you first off know you like it and secondly can buy stuff that suits your playing style. If you don't know your playing style yet play a few games first and you will see what you are more comfortable with.

detain does look good. the charms are amazing, i like the legendary sphinx, that uncounterable wrath is epic, i need the shocklands for my two three color commanders, and that golgari planeswalker seems nifty to say the least.

There's a good chunk of uncounterable stuff though... Fun effects, sure, but that phrase on so many cards is a little worrying...

Yay... They gave me a bunch of Krenko Bosses and commands, Chieftain, and a ton of goblins. Yet, I really feel like I'm still going to be raped.
So basically, blue = countering, white = buffing, green = turtling, black = sacrifice, red = conscript mode.

Goblins are extremely fast, all you gotta do are get as many as you possibly can, and just bash your opponent before they can really do anything.

Well that's what one of my friends said.
She said since she knows my personality, I'd get bored with other colors so she gave me that red goblin deck.
However, one of my friends also said that I'd be better off with a green deck because they also have a lot of cheap cards and can get lands faster and summon creatures at the same rate. He said I'd just be frustrated if I don't get enough land in worst case scenarios.
So which one do you think should I go?

Just bought a booster box, all 5 starters, and the Izzet vs Golari set. IMO, a good $200 well spent.
And I suggest playing Red. To me, Red is just straight forward you doing damage as quick as possible, and if you are playing Mono Red, you really wouldn't have to worry about Mana as much. A Goblin deck is a real good starting deck due to the fact that it is based around you getting out goblins as quick as possible and dealing straight damage against the opponent real quick.
But, I'd also suggest later on, if you do decide to keep playing, you should start mixing colors, decks, and play-styles. Now is a good time to start looking at other colors since the new Expansion that's coming out revolves around everything being 2 colors, and almost no Mono color.

Green is a really easy color to start with. There are simple strategies such as just ramping up to get enough lands to cast huge creatures that are difficult to deal with. Brute force is always powerful.

So apparently Saturday was a Magic promo day, and I didn't find out about it until afterwards.Yup, the Magic Celebration. Pretty fun. Got a free booster pack just for joining in, with the opportunity to win up to three more. My friend and I participated in it. I won two more boosters throughout it.

Missed, although I really don't care for the set they used, I never pass on the opportunity for free swag

Someone I played though had Ajani, though. And he ultimated against me...
I got scratched to hell by cats. Again, still was fun.
And RtR promos, woo:

How many cat tokens did he create? Someone created 248 Cat tokens in one game against me. We both face-rolled and laugh. Good game.

Only 20 (lol). I didn't manage to even touch him, but he didn't have any lifegain, other than a vampire nighthawk I murdered before it did anything.

Anti-snapcaster, yay. Even then, it's a nice set of combat abilities for just two red mana.

I like that card as well due to the fact that my friends love playing a blue/black zombie deck that relies on casting spells from the graveyard.

Yeah, holds it's ground well, and punishes players for playing around with their graveyards like zombies and spells with flashback/Snapcaster.

Well, a tournament is coming up in 2 weeks and I need to build around Extended. My Standard Decks are fine (an Angel deck, a Goblin deck and Infect deck) but my main deck, my Red/White Human Soldier deck isn't. :(
That Red/White deck really hasn't too many games and I feel like it's my best one so far. My Zombie Mill deck needs some tweaking and the other random ones that I've built so far aren't cutting it.
Either building a new deck completely, this way no one has seen or played against this deck, or re-do my Red/White deck. What to do...
