Last Wednesday, I watched my friend play standard with an employee of the comic book store that I go to.
The employee was using a white/blue detain and annoying enchantment deck and my friend was using a populate deck.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe it took them an hour to finish one game. The detain deck just kept attacking with a 1 damage creature.
And I thought that the longest round I've seen was half an hour.
Do you keep the cards that you get in a draft?

Lol, I've had long games like that... control vs. control will drag it out pretty damn long.
And, yes. You paid to get in, might as well keep the cards.

Uhm, I'm thinking of buying sleeves for some of my new cards.
The only thing is I don't know if they'll fit my cards.
It says in the sleves Fits Cards of This Size: 2 1/2'' x 3 1/2'' (63.5 x 88 MM)
My problem is that as far as I know, that is also the exact same size of MTG.
You guys think it'll fit?

Never measured the cards.... All I know is that if the sleeves say they fit "Standard Sized Cards" or something close to that, it'd fit Magic cards.

Hmm, the sleeve looks really nice.
I hate buying something and not being able to use it.
Still, thanks ^_^

Found a good place to play MtG online. I really like the program and it works. Has every single card from Alpha to RtR.
http://cockatrice.de/
Using this to get my MtG on when I can't play IRL. Find that this works a lot better than the official version of MtG, even though it's not as user friendly or has a better UI than the official one has.

Was watching Pro Tour Return to Ravnica, and man, a bunch of combo decks... A combo deck won the whole thing, the Eggs deck. Also some Pyromancer Ascension Storm decks, something I wanna emulate.
But there was also this Modern Masters thing I was really interested in:

or video:

Reprints of cool stuff. Only thing confirmed right now is Tarmogoyf, though.
EDIT:
Also did the draft simulator for this week. Drafted a pretty sweet RB deck, though I started questioning my direction when I saw some good stuff later on.
Here's a link if anyone wants to try:

I'll just repost what I said on MTGsalvation
On Modern Masters
On Modern Masters
Hold on, I thought the point of modern was to have a non-rotating format that didn't suffer from the problem that legacy/vintage has (collectors demanding their 'investments' don't devalue), so they make a set that reprints format staples whilst making concessions to the same collectors that ruin formats?
If the print run is as small as they claim, then it won't affect the prices that much, Tarmogoyf at $75 is still a problem for a format that is trying to be accessible, Jund making up roughly 30% of the format is proof of that (although it didn't win which is probably a good thing).

These points are true... I see Goyf in basically every deck that has green in those major tournaments (I think it's always a four-of, too); probably the only green decks without it is the infect decks, because those aren't decks seeking to do that kind of damage. Makes it so your additional entry fee in the tourney with your green deck is access to Goyfs.

There are plenty of green decks that don't use goyf (Naya Pod, but that is more of a midrange/combo deck, neither of which really use goyf at all), the problem is a good chunk of the best performing decks use goyf.

Pod, think the only one I've seen in action in Modern was one of those Kiki-Jiki pod decks that makes infinite RestoAngels for the win.
Yeah, I heard Jund decks made up 30-35% of the field during ProTour Return to Ravnica. I'm not sure if that's actually significant or not, having not seen other ones, but I'd imagine it is, one of every three decks is that kind.

Yeah, day 2 it was 30% (day 1 29%), it's basically G/B/R goodstuffs so of course it is one of the most consistent decks in the field, and it plays Dark Confidant and Bloodbraid Elves
(would link but am SOOO LAZY)

Confidant... Wonder if that'll make the Modern Masters set, too... Kinda would like to get my hands on one, but Bob is 40 bucks alst I checked.

Modern Masters? June huh.... I'll buy a piggy bank, start putting two dollars in it everyday, and use that money to complete that set when it comes out.
Question, if I summon a goblin because of Goblin Lackey's ability, can my opponent counter that incoming goblin?

It's being put onto the battlefield, not cast. Counterpells can only counter spells on a stack, not abilities. There is a card, Stifle, that counters abilities, but I've never seen it happen, though it apparently happens quite a bit in Legacy.

Yes and no
Activated/Triggered Abilities (while they do use the stack) cannot be countered by counterspell as they aren't spells, they are abilities. benefit of trickbind being that it is extremely difficult to counter (the only way you can is through a triggered ability or something that doesn't use the stack,
There are spells that can however, most notably stifle and trickbind, both counter triggered/activated abilities, the former costs U and the latter costs 1U, the such as morph)
Stifle is used to varying degrees in legacy, sometimes it's the best thing in the world, other times it's terrible, it's entirely meta. It remains one of the few truly effective counters against goblins as it cuts off it's main source of card advantage, namely Goblin Matron and Goblin Ringleader. It tends to be used as a resource denial card (crazy as this sounds :P), stifing fetchlands (usually with a wasteland to back it up), or Phyrexian Dreadnaught triggers.
Also Loyal Retainers is being reprinted, good thing I sold mine :)

Ahh, nice, now I don't have to worry that much then.
Another one, I just saw Commander's Arsenal comes with 18 premium foil cards. Are those foil cards the same for every box? or is it totally random?

i hate it when a game of edh turns into kangaroo court, lol. according to one of my play groups, you have to deal 20 points of poison in edh, and grand arbiter's effect only happens once on blue/white cards, and seeing as it's what i say vs everyone else, that what goes, lol. neither of those rules are actually true, right?

Should be the same, Right now, the most notable cards are Loyal retainers and Sylvan Library
Although you might get lucky and get one with two Loyal Retainers (apparently people getting 2 Maze of Iths with FTV:Realms wasn't that unheard of apparently)

One of the few I actually don't mind.
Grand Arbiter is a static effect that affects every Blue/White spells, punch your friends in the face if they say otherwise.
Do note however, that it's only when it's on the field, I've had friends who thought painter servant's effect kept going after it died...makes grindstone insanely broken
