Does anyone think a Goblin deck based around Krenko, Guttersnipe, Battle Hymn and Devil's play could work in standard at all?I've been tossing the idea around, I think it could even work with making it blue/red with Mystical Retrievals and Goblin Electromancers.
I don't think Goblins is really viable in Standard right now as a tournament quality deck. There just aren't that many Goblin cads to work with right now that allow for the explosively fast deck that it's supposed to be. There isn't even Goblin Grenade anymore in Standard, which I think seems like a key card.
If you have a decklist, post it up. I could be wrong, 'cus I might not be thinking of some good stuff for Goblins in the current Standard environment.

Most of my friends play standard. I have one friend who plays a mono-Red Goblin deck. He uses Krenko, Guttersnipe, and Battle Hymn in his deck but it isn't a pure Goblin deck. He has a lot of burn spells and Vexing Devils. Apparently, it is very hard to build a pure Goblin standard tournament quality deck.

Well, Monored is a viable strategy in today's Standard since it's fast enough to kinda dismantle most control decks, which is what many of the current top decks are right now, but I haven't seen many with Goblins. Maybe Mogg Flunkies, at least, that's what one guy I met had who also plays a monored aggro deck like mine, but he said he didn't like it, it was good for the surprise factor, but then always immediately sides it out.

Been a while. Been busy with work, but I built a new deck for Modern. Forgot how fun the Kamigawa cycle was so I built a new Ninja Deck. Won all my games so far on Cocktrice with it, so here you go for the deck list :

8x Island
6x Swamp
Creatures [22] -

Only the blue ninjas, huh? All good, my ninja deck only has blue, too (though, mine's monoblue as well). Those guys do some good work by themselves.
I don't like Dark Favor in this deck, because you're voluntarily bouncing your own creatures. Last thing you want is to waste it by bouncing the creature with it. Also, it paints a huge target on the creature enchanted by it cus if it's removed, it's a 2-for-1.
I kinda like Artful Dodge more than Ghostform. Not sure how much I like Agony Warp, but removal is removal. I'm not sure about Circu and the Cutpurse, but if it's working for you, I can't argue.
Invisible Stalker and Tormented Soul are excellent additions to the deck. I might add more. Maybe add Faerie Imposter, too, so you can rebuy the ninjas' effects, since those guys don't have evasion themselves.
EDIT: Wow, U/W Flash is certainy a top deck for a reason... It keeps crushing my monored on Cockatrice. At least testing against myself. Though I'm not using a typical Flash deck, I turned mine into a Delver variant.

What do you guys suggest in putting in as a buff card from modern that will help out the ninja deck then? I feel like that the ninjas themselves and the unblockables are very weak in terms of power, but can most likely work a lot fast in terms of attacking a lot better if i had cards that help them buff up a lot quick. I might also use artful dodge instead of ghost form instead for the fact that it costs one less.
I might try using Farie Impostors. I really like that card and feel like it's very unappreciated. I find it really good for evasion as well as it being a flying one drop, she helps out a lot. Especially against those pesky War Falcons in Standard.

Blue doesn't have that much buff... but I've found, at least in my casual Ninja deck, that you'll grind the opponent out anyways. I've won doing just a few points at a time simply because the unblockability and ninjas distrupt well enough (Mistblade bounce ftw).
Distortion Strike's a good one, I'd think. +1/+0 and unblockable until end of turn, and it Rebounds.
I'm usually just stalling them out by using things like Sleep, too.
________
On another topic, I had an inspiration for a Black-Blue-something else Delver deck, but I've come to a halt.
What I've got so far is:
4 Delver of Secrets (obviously)
4 Snapcaster Mage (Delver's buddy)
3 Duress (This felt like a key card)
4 Unsummon (Blue removal)
3 Ultimate Price (Black removal)
X Liliana of the Veil (since she's super good)
I was thinking green maybe for Quirion Dryad and Thragtsuk, but also Red for Pillar of Flame and Searing Spear... I'm not exactly sure yet where I'm going with this but the core looked good to me so far. Maybe I'm getting too clever for myself, I don't know. But I really want to follow through with this ever since I wasted time in my class today thinking about it.

I don't like Delver or Duress, you don't have any cantrip effect, meaning that the only way he is going to flip is by building your deck in such a way to where your odds of blind flipping him are acceptable, at which point, your deck is probably so all in on delver that you probably lose to any removal. Duress really doesn't seem to do enough Maindeck in a format full of Creatures and Snapcaster mage.
That and the mana for a U/B is simply bad, really the place to start is with one of the guilds currently available and go from there it seems

Aww, well, it was worth a shot. In the meantime, I'll continue to pretend to be unique by using a slightly modified U/W Flash list that uses Delver as one of the more important threats. It's done well enough so far on cockatrice the two games I used it, though I haven't run into the mirror to see if I'm getting too clever for my own good. You're right about mana, too, I might just need to wait for the next set to come out so those guilds can bring good things for this color combination, as well.
Btw, I'm not a big fan of Delver either, but I still think it's powerful enough, I'm just trying to find a way to bring him back in the spotlight, at least for a little while.

Wow, I tried the Alexander Hayne miracle deck with my friends and holy crap it actually works. As long as you are playing standard it actually does work. Although, I had to redraw a couple of times.(nope, I hate using the term mulligan)
Evolving Wilds is so good with this deck and Feeling of Dread helps so much.
Concerning the Ninja deck, I've only played against a Ninja deck once. It was Black/Blue with a Tormented Soul

You still need to remember that was a Block-Constructed deck. It ONLY contained cards from Innistrad, Dark Ascension, and Avacyn Restored. Standard has many more options available, which can make that deck even better.
Also, he mentions that it's actually a harder deck to play than it looks, because you actually do not want to just cast every miracle you topdeck. You need to consider the situation and time each miracle right, even if it means hardcasting them for their normal cost.
Still, it's great it's working for ya. I'm kinda jealous, I've been wanting to build that deck, but Entreat the Angels is really expensive right now.
That deck actually is quite good on a mulligan because it has the strange mechanic of wanting to make sure none of your best cards are in your hand, meaning you hope to draw them.
Feeling of Dread was the very reason the deck worked, Alexander emphasized as he described the deck to others. Once, again, in Standard, there's even more options available to slow down your opponent, such as Downpour.
Are you playing the same 75 he did?

No, I'm only playing 60.
Also, I added 4 Hallowed Fountain and 4 Glacial Fortress.
Most of my games, thank heaven, fate, chance, destiny or whoever, I was able to cast Tamiyo's final ability. In one of my games, I think I have 15 lands, with a Thought Scour and Devastation Tide. It was so funny I was just saying "You know I'll just activate Devastation Tide over and over again until I get Entreat?"
And yes, I think really carefully before activating miracles.
Downpour is good, but the problem with it is that it doesn't have a flashback. Feeling of Dread saved me a lot of times, especially because it counts as a two card in one.
Also, in one of my games, there was a time that I was able to drag the game so long but not get Entreat. I became really scared because I was so close to milling my self out.
EDIT: Burn decks are a pain in the ass especially if their only creature of importance is Vexing Devil.

Well, it's just that it's another option to tempo your opponent. Nothing stops you from running both.
And it's actually interesting that Alexander Hayne turned out not to like Devastation Tide because it actually was bad for him at the tournament, since many creatures gives good effects when they enter the battlefield, and casting Devastation Tide allowed his opponents to rebuy all those effects.
Also, that's a problem the Miracle deck has: Entreat is the only kill mechanism in the mainboard, though you draw so much that it's usually irrelevant. Post-board, Alexander had Snapcaster Mages (One of the best creatures now, it's run in almost every blue tournament deck) and Geists of Saint Traft (6 Power worth of creature for 3 mana), to have some more beaters, as well as help with the original gameplan of stalling out the game, since the Geists were actually there to Legend-rule away enemy Geists.
EDIT: Issued the correction: Geist is 3 mana. He'd be overpowered at 2.

Drumroll.....
Slaughter Games
Fortunately, none of my friends has ever played that card yet.
The problem, last time I was playing, before I left the place, one of my friends whispered to me she has 4 Slaughter Games in her Rakdos deck with my name on it.
Now I really have to think of a way to stop this card...

There are a bunch of cards with that effect.
That being said, that is the only one that can't be countered, which is why it's now (at least from what I'm seeing) a sideboard staple in any deck that runs those colors, such as Rakdos (Red-Black) or Jund (Red-Black-Green).

Holy crap! I didn't know Bonfire is so cheap now and Entreat is very expensive now...
I know there are a lot of cards like that, but I will never use this deck in a non-standard game. I would hate to get surgical extracted after Entreat...

That's why the deck needed a lot of improvement. And besides, again, it was block-constructed, no cards could "Extripate" cards (basically, Slughter Game's effect), at least, none I can think of in that format.
Miracle decks exist in othder formats, but as a secondary wincon, like the Countertop deck in Legacy, basically a control deck that's always manipulating the top of it's library, so they can set up miracles nicely, too. Maybe set up a big Entreat as another way to win.

You see it a lot in articles (if you read them), and most of the time it's assumed you know what it means, so of course, My brother and I thought all the pros used 75 card decks for some innane reason.
Want to build TEAM America (typically refers to a BUG Tempo deck played in legacy, although now it refers to any BUG deck typically) in legacy, Underground seas, y u so expensive.
That or a deck that plays Dark Confidant.
