I have a deck centered around Azor's Elocutors. It is very very funny. I've won a lot of games in really funny ways. So yeah, this block is really fun. Also, one of the reasons why I love this block is because of the lands. Before I don't make Standard decks because I don't like not being able to use enough dual lands. But thanks to Shocklands, Innistrad lands and Farseek, it's not that hard to play any color even 4 or 5 color decks. Because of the amount of dual lands available, I've been able to make a lot of weird and surprising decks.
Nah, I know the guy. He needed an instant $100 because he's going to a concert with his dad. I got Liliana of the Veil, Jace Memory Adept 2, Domri, Mizzium Mortars 4, Loxodons 4, Glacial Fortress 4 from him. I don't even know why I only paid $20. (^â–¼^)
.......Wow, that's amazing. Lilianna alone is 20-35 bucks. Jace, Memory Adept has gotten popular now, so he's around 20 bucks. Lands are always valuable enough. Domri's still pretty high right now. And Loxodons and Mizzium sets are a nice add on too, they're fairly inexpensive comparatively, but still.
Well it is his fault for losing his ticket. He wanted to sell his cards 1/3 because most stores in my area buys cards for 1/3 of the price. They will give you cash but they will be reselling it. The ones who buy for 1/2 doesn't buy everything, just the popular ones.
Actually, when the shop that I go to buys cards, they will offer it to me first for 1/3 before putting it on display.
So he said might as well sell it to players. Also, I think he knows that I never trade nor sell so I won't be making profit from him or something.
By the way, I never knew that Jace was actually expensive. I thought it's a cheap planeswalker because not a lot of people use him.
EDIT:
I just noticed this from Sakabato's deck.
I really get the feeling that more and more people are using Izzet Charm. Before, I rarely see them. Now, I almost always see them.

Liliana of the Veil is a $40 card now :
http://store.tcgplayer.com/magic/innistrad/liliana-of-the-veil
Memory Adept is about $15 a piece.
That's a real good deal that you got. I'm just lucky I bought my own Liliana of The Veil for around $15 and the rest I have traded for (I have a play-set). That means that I could sell a play-set of her for around $200. For a card that used to only sell for around $10-$15, she's gone up quite a lot, but that's because she's used in both Modern and Standard as of right now. I'm pretty sure when she rotates out of Standard soon though, she'll drop down at least down to $30.
Anywho, I like running Izzet Charm a lot, even over Boros Charm due to the fact that I can render both Contol and Aggro. Hitting for 2 on any Aggro creature is very suffice, while countering for just 2, especially either a Sphinx Rev or a Planeswalker, is very useful. Heck, the draw/discard mechanic helps me feed the graveyard for a big-hitting Harvest Pyre, fuel for Moorland Haunt, discarding unnecessary land, or a good Psychic Spiral if needed. Though, getting the Indestructible/Lifelink Infinite with Reckoner is still pretty fun to pull off.
The new planeswalker, Ral, looks like he can be main-boarded into my BWR Midrange deck. He looks like such a good Planeswalker. I wonder if they are going to release another one as well.
I'm also getting a feeling that at the end of Dragon's Maze, the decisive ruler over Ravnica are either going to be the Guild with the highest collective Planeswalker Points or, my speculation, which is that Feather is going to come out of no-where and rule all of Ravnica due to the fact that she is now pretty much Guild-less and she probably wants to regain the Angel honor from being out-casted by the Boros Legion.

Jace, Memory Adept got more popular because he's extremely good in a control mirror: His first ability draws you an extra card each turn, and his second ability can become the win condition of a control deck if they realize they can't win in another way quickly enough. His ultimate is also relevant enough in a control mirror, because when the game goes on for long enough, that may kill someone in one go.
Yeahh, I think it stemmed from a popular version of a Red-White-Blue midrange called "Lucky Charms", in which they used 4x Azorius Charm, 4x Boros Charm, and 2x Izzet Charm. It may also be a reason RWU is popular, too: all the charms in their color all have the three abilities that can be relevant all the time.
Azorius Charm is one of the best removal spells in the format, but also in a cantrip and a lifegain spell in case it is needed; Boros Charm kills most planeswalkers in one go, but is also one of the most efficient burn cards available, or even an anti-wrath. Izzet Charm is simply an amazing all-around card: Draw two, discard two (Faithless Looting) is good in almost any deck, Two damage (Shock) kills most or the bears aggro runs, and Counter unless pay 2 (Spell Pierce) forces your opponent to play carefully.

Remember me?
Since they made Return to Ravnica, they better get to work on Return to Kamigawa next. Amirite? Eh?
Kamigawa was the coolest block of all time, but the cards are so weak compared to newer modern blocks.

Storywise, it'd be hard to. But, I, too, would love some kind of return to Kamigawa. That block seemed very fun (I wasn't playing at the time).
That was an odd block, too. Either there were REALLY good cards, or outright shitty ones.

I'm more interested in the incoming block. I've always loved Mythology and the likes. So I'm really excited for the Theros one.
I've played a lot of drafts now. I must say, the one I had today was the best one.
We did Avacyn Restored Draft. At first, they were ignoring me because I had nothing. They were too bust fighting among themselves. They had really strong and powered up creatures and I had 1 Hunted Ghoul. The game went for a while then I activated 2 Barter in Blood pretty much clearing the way. Then Next turn I played Moonsilver Spear and Dark Impostor. I just equipped it to him and exiled the other creatures next turn. I had my 5/5 Impostor Defanged and 4 Angels before I defeated my first opponent.
The other one has 35 life and strong defenders which I just exiled. I destroyed almost all her Plains (she's running Black/White) and played Tyrant of Discord. I then attacked for 26 damage.
I have to say, Moonsilver Spear is one of the best cards I've used in a draft.

Remeber that it's the good commons that make a good deck in draft, not just the bomb rares.
And sometimes, its the bombs that carry the deck, lol. Moonsilver Spear does a lot of good work in limited. I remember it was my only flying defense in my sealed deck during prerelease, rofl.

I saw the previews for Dragon's Maze...
I have to say, that Render Silent looks really good. Also, Teysa, albeit really expensive, has a really nasty effect and good art.

I still see Counterflux being used over Render Silent due to the fact that Counterflux can't be countered, while Render Silent can. I'd use Render Silent sideboard, because I can see it being used against aggro, especially the ones that drop down a lot of creatures on turn 2 or 3. I'll be decent against control, but you have to be wary on when to use it.
Control usually only cast on spell per turn anyway, and a wasted Render Silent isn't the best option to go with.

I don't think you want counterspells against aggro in general, though... I wouldn't even Render Silent in that matchup. I'd rather just side in more creature kill, which deals with the problem immediately. They should have already gotten some aggresive creatures out before you even got to three mana.
And I agree that Counterflux is better in more cases, but I still can see uses for Render Silent. There comes a point in games where even control may cast multiple spells in a turn, usually in the mirror, when there's so much mana available to them, and they have to start being proactive for some reason. It also deters "test spells", spells a player cast to lure out a counter, so they can play a better spell with less risk. I'd consider some number in the sideboard as well. May be fine in the midrange matchup.
Still, Counterflux is still simply a better Cancel than the other ones in the format right now (even if Dissipate's a more relevant one, it still can be countered).
EDIT: Ah, right, my friend and I were discussing, though, how well Render could possibly work in, and against, combo decks, in other formats. I could see this ruining a Storm or Eggs deck's plan, or maybe see it in some other combo deck to protect its combo.
0
I could see Render Silent be some edh playable of sorts, my problem with it is, you can't really win a counter war with it, while you can with counterflux, and it doesn't exile like dissipate. the problem I have with it in against combo in other formats is getting to 3 mana, on the draw against eggs, your probably getting 2 lands drops, maybe a third, but your also already favored against eggs if your U/W/x (unless they have silence and you can't deal with it..which you usually can), storm is dead in modern, and legacy storm laughs at this card.

Ok, I brought my binder to the store today because my friend insisted.
When people saw I have Lilies of the Veil, everyone wanted to buy all of them (of course in a cheap price). Regardless, I didn't sell it because I never sell nor trade any of my cards, especially ones in my binder that I collect for good art.
I was just really surprised when they told me that Liliana of the Veil is $60 now. I actually taught that they were joking.
I must know, what is the reason why she is so expensive? Is there a game breaking combo with her that for some reason I do not know? Is she really that good?

I posted the price last page, and the reason why she's so costly right now is that she's really powerful in Jund, both in Standard and in Modern, even after the BBE ban. I'm not too sure about Legacy, but I can see her being very useful in Legacy too.

She's simply a very popular good card, that is used in all formats. She's pretty good in Standard, she's often played in fours in Modern, and I've seen lots of Legacy decks that use her (usually Jund).
She's, in fact, a hard card to play right, because she's one of the few planeswalkers you might actually consider not activating during your turn. You only want to use her +1 ability when you know it'll only harm your opponent; you never want to give yourself card disadvantage by discarding a spell.
But, yeah, she's considered that good, and I can see why: A three mana planeswalker with abilities that can rapidly turn the tides of a game in your favor when used correctly.

I totally thought of something nasty for Jund aggro using Varolz. Turn one, Vexing Devil. Everyone kills Vexing Devil off the bad when he's in play, so let's say he goes into the graveyard. When turn 3 comes around and you cast Varolz and now you can Scavenge Vexing Devil for 1 cost and give a creature 4/3. It's so good!

Yeah, me and my friends were thinking of a bunch of wacky things we could be doing in casual. Death's Shadow, Phyrexian Dreadnaught, etc. We actually weren't thinking of Standard. That's a funny and wacky interaction that sounds like it could work wonders. =D
By the way, Scavenge gives +1/+1 counters equal to its power, so a scavenged Vexing Devil will actually give a creature a permanent +4/+4. Even better!!!

Hmm... But isn't Scavenge a bit risky? I mean it's just one or two creature that gets powered up.
If it's just one, then all you need to do is Unsummon or kill that one.
Regardless, that is a very good idea about Vexing Devil, Phyrexian Dreadnaught and Death's Shadow. I'm so gonna try that (^â–¼^)

The point is that you're turning the creatures in your graveyard into something. It's the same reason why Snapcaster Mage is good: it turns your graveyard into a resource. If you can't use your own graveyard, it's basically a pile of cards. But if you can utilize the cards in your graveyard, then it basically becomes an extension of your hand.

Question here,
Let's say I activated Ulvenwald Tracker's ability. I target my enemy Rakdos to fight my 9/9 hexproof Rubblebelt. My opponent then activates Victim of the Night targetting Ulvenwald Tracker.
Does UT's ability get cancelled or does it still go on even though he died?

Destroying the source does not counter the effect. So, yes, the fight still happens. Nothing except three cards in all of Magic (that aren't even in Standard) can stop activated or triggered abilities.
So, for the most part, ANY activated or triggered ability still happens even if it's source is gone, usually.
