My (formerly just bass) covers UPDATE: 11/18/12

Of music itself? Well, I come from a pretty cultural family. When I was young, my parents had me undertake vocal lessons in classical Bengali music. Not my cup of tea, though. I was more into Backstreet Boys and whatever was popular those days. XD

But yeah, even though I was trained for a short while in a style I didn't like, I still kept to music in general. After my pop phase, I entered into nu-metal with Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit (Meteora is still one of my fave albums ever), and from there, I started exploring all aspects of rock music. Somewhere in between that, my parents wanted to buy a piano and enroll my brother in piano lessons, after being amazed by a friend's son. While shopping for one at a store, I was pretty amazed by the different types of guitars there. It showed pretty obviously, as one of the people who taught lessons there saw me looking and suggested I buy one and get lessons as well. This was around the time American Idiot began to rise in popularity, if I remember correctly. That's how I started playing the guitar.

The bass was some years later, when I saw a band perform at a small festival in the nearby park. My dad asked me if I wanted an upgrade from my acoustic, and I said I wanted a bass (remembering that two of my classmates were gonna start a band someday, but didn't know a bassist). I got my Ibanez bass that day as a gift from my dad, and started practicing with that, under the same teacher I had for acoustic lessons. In time, I joined my friends in forming Absent Element, a band that managed to stay relatively known in Bangladesh' underground scene for about two years, releasing two songs into the market in two separate mixtapes. We're all on break now, due to studies, but we don't plan on ending anytime soon.
