My mouse stops working

Got Megane?
That's my problem, my mouse just stops responding.
Its a USB optical mouse ()I recently switched to after getting tired of my old ball mouse), and after sometimes a few minutes, or even 30min later it just stops, it doesn't respond, and the light on the bottom isn't on. The only way I can fix it then is to unplug it from the USB port and plug it in again.
I am using Windows 7, and I look in the control panel, and under mouse properties and I don't see any box or option to prevent this from happening, friend said look under power management but I don't see anything there that can help.
Can I get a solution, if motherboard info is required its a ASUS M4A785-M

Hmmm, if thats your problem it might just be the port the mouse is pulged in to..Go control panel clike device manager..look on there and you should see
mouse properties. this should open a task...clike on the name of your mouse.
HID-compliant mouse...then clike driver you should see a bunch of stuff..I don't remeber much beyond that...
it could just be the fact that you have a bad mouse or a bad port..You should BUY a brand new mouse and pulg it in that same port...if it works then it was the mouse if it does not work then its the port....This is all I can think off.

(I recently switched to after getting tired of my old ball mouse)It is a new mouse, and it does have a cord, and I've tried all my USB ports, and in the control panel I see no option to fix this issue, I see what was mentioned in the previous post, but it doesn't seem to relate to my problem, any other (helpful) ideas.

Info on your mouse might help.
I had a similar problem on vista with my Logitech G5. Turned out it was a problem with drivers. In the end I removed the drivers and it never happened again.
I have the feeling your problem might be related to a defect in your mouse's cord though.
