A flail where the handle is a cross, the ball is a bible, and the chain is a rosary.
You're welcome.

Just go with whatever the proficiency is for the class in Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I quite like Two-handed Swords, but in terms of both in rpg's and real life, I prefer speed over anything else. After that, defense. (And, for fun, magic for the pretty AoE's.)
So, for games, I normally focus on speed/range type characters (archers or rouges), but if I choose a warrior type, I go with a tank/support/magic type, like the hybrid class in Dragon's Dogma.
I prefer Two-handed Axes over Two-handed Swords, though. (Axes are tied with pole arms, for me.)
And while I generally prefer Bludgeon weapons over Swords as One-handed weapons (for the sheer power), Swords can pierce, cut, and are all around faster and lighter to use. So my preference for speed sides with swords. (Knives/daggers above swords though.)
Paladin's are supporters that can accompany others on the front lines, a little of all, but Two-handed weapons seem more suited to those who dedicate themselves completely to offensive.
With a shield, while in the front line, they can guard themselves while casting.
Also, you forgot staffs/books/whips/and other bludgeon type weapons.
tl;dr... Shield, and some one handed weapon, probably a Sword for the speed.

2-handed hammer. Probably because I grew up playing WarCraft 3 and Arthas used a 2-handed hammer as a Paladin.

Sword and shield or a two hand sword. Or if you're like Artix, a two handed battleaxe. I just don't see hammers as a paladin thing. But my favorite is gun blade.

I always think a paladin as a heavy tank-type with heal spells and a mixed bag of magic. Armour-wise, I think of bulky plate mail with large pauldrons , cape, body length square shield and a large bludgeoning weapon of a sort, like a mace or something.

Swords are for kids. Hammers are what real warriors hit their enemies with. Also, this ^
