Satellite television in the USA
0
Greetings.
Is it true that a subscription is necessary to watch satellite-TV in America?
Why and how? And what is with the lame and misleading company name Dish?
What kind of "provider" is dish? Is that a pay-TV group? Do they build the satellites? Do they charge for the satellite reception itself? Do you have to unlock the satellite reception? Is there no Free to AIR on American satellites? Or is Dish there to extend the variety? If so, how many FTA channels are there on American satellite/s (and why then the name dish)?
Does satellite offer less channels FTA than cable?
I have a satellite dish with 2 LNBs, I receive over a thousand channels and over 300 are free each satellite, and I pay nothing for watching satellite-TV itself. No need to unlock the Satellite signal reception. The pay-TV channels are just encrypted. All I pay is 60 EUR a year without contract or subscription for a CAM-card to watch about 12 pay-TV channels witch are HD variants of the most popular German Free-TV channels.
The satellites I point to are Astra 19.2 DEG East and Eutelsat Hotbird 13 DEG East.

Yes and no. There is a free over the air that uses satellites here. Local channels and a few non network ones. You can hack the card that they use for free full satellites, but yes you need to pay for whatever plan you want which is varied on what you want. Dish sucks because the Directv plan i have is cheaper and more channels. Both are paid for use of the channels since there no free non network channel. Over the air channels are free via federal law since you need news and stuff, but Cable/satellite channel cost money since they need to pay for there stuff. There about 40 free over the air channels here. Yes they built there own satellites and bounce the channels from there own ground dish. I think with local channels bouncing is the same. Not all free over the air are on cable or satellite. Over the air and satellites are different. You don't need one to get free tv here. Just a digital over the air scrambler and receiver. Depending on plan on both of the satellite companies and cable determined channels you get.
Cable is extremely expensive, but the internet is fast and cheap.
I have Directv since comcast(cable company here) is limited and cost double then what i get. I pay 99$ a month for 900 channels, pay channels, DVR and on demand with no lock plus access to adult and foreign tv. 1080p and 4k. There not that many channels on the air here i guess. Which i gonna cancel the international ones since they removed the Japanese channels and the JAV channel. With all i have it was 966 channels total. Included the pay for view channels(about 40-50) and pay for view porn. Which for the 9 porn channels i have to pay for 4 of them on 3 hours terms 5 of them are include in my play 24/7. 99$ plus 20 for the hd box rental and 5 for the DVR rental. 2year contract which im not on now so i can cancel without hassle.
Dish sucks just for not having some channels cable and directv has. Cable also lack the channels i have. They just have better library of movies you can watch on Demand aka cable version of netflix streaming. I have a lot of anime channels they don't.

900 channels on cable and foreign channels?! In Germany they don't even offer 100 channels and a very small variety of foreign channels. One cable provider offer only the 4 Rai channels of the Italian channels. Foreign channels are extra charged.
And they still have analogue channels on Cable in Germany, broadcasting in grainy and poor quality I used to call "Cable-TV" quality.
4K on cable?!! Really? Are you sure. Not possible on Cable here. Satellite only.
And availability and variety of HD channels vary from provider to provider.
Cable companies have no plans. They only have extras.
But 900 channels with on demand and some foreign channels for 99$ is too much. That's worth maximum 25$ a month.
With satellite I'm absolutely independent. Hundreds of foreign channels for free.
Austrian commercial breaks are more pleasant than German ones.
For pay-TV channels I buy or subscribe a Card and put it in the receiver.
How does it work with Plans for satellite? Do get a card and put it in the receiver?
Or is there some kind of unlock procedure? What exactly is Network and are there no independent channels? And why do they need or depend on a provider? Why don't they just encrypt their channel? Why are they on plans of a provider? What is the use of a provider? Doesn't make sense to me. And why are those TV stations and Providers so greedy? I saw those plans and they are all overpriced. And do the network channels have commercial breaks?

I kicked the habit years ago. Now i just watch whatever i want through my computer. Saves money, time, brain cells, and actually allows me to choose what i watch instead of spoon-feeding me bullshit ads (cheers to adblock) and shit they call shows.

I just want to have television available. But I don't want even a tenth of my broadband used for 4 television participants. I have a dishset so I have television independently with a variety of over 500 channels from all of Europe and even beyond. I just want television and such variety on channels. If I want to watch the encrypted HD-variant channels, I buy the card for it once a year. No subscribtion.
Now my questions here are: How does it work with Plans for satellite? Do you get a card and put it in the receiver? Why do the network stations need or depend on a provider? Why don't they just encrypt their channel? Can't the network TV-station handle anything themselves? Why are they on plans of a provider? What is the use of a provider? Doesn't make sense to me. And why are those TV stations and Providers so greedy? I saw those plans and they are all overpriced. And do the network channels have commercial breaks?
Does anyone have an idea?
TV may have no future in America, since America seems a kind of behind in television, but in Eurasia, Africa and Australia it has a future. We are advanced in television.
