Sculpting - most wanted anime figures/characters?

So here is the story in short. I am interested in sculpting and painting some really high end - high detail anime figures. Why?
I saw a lot of figures sell for 150-300$ and to tell you the truth most of them look horrible and they are all factory made, I mean it's not unique. You can buy one of those and like 1000 more people have the same one...
I am 100% sure that I can make far better figures and sell them on eBay, like a small hobby. Earn some money and have fun.
So the question is would you rather pay for a great, realistic anime figure or would you rather buy a crappy looking one but let's say a bandai brand one? Same price only that one is hand made and looks far better + it's unique or the other one is a brand?!
And the final - last question is. Is there a poll somewhere where I can check for the most wanted figures out there? So that I can check and see what's best to make.

Let's say Nami from One Piece is a better option then some unknown anime girl.
