Well, it depends. Do I have a damn good reason to fight? Do I have nothing to lose if I get beat up? Do I have a fair chance of winning the fight? If all questions yield yes, I fight. Because if I answered no at least to one of these questions, I'd rather run.

If I were in a fight, even if I know that I would win 100% I would still run anyways. It's just not in my nature to fight. I would rather run to avoid conflict than fight and get sued later on.
Of course if someone insulted my gf or did something really really terrible then I'd destroy the guy (I'll at least try).

bit hard to generalise really, fights one on one i'd stand my ground, anything more then that... i might still fight but i'd run in between fighting people.

I usually stand my ground, I don't care if it's against 1 or 4 but if you're not really tough, you could always make the "hit the nut sack and run" seariously if you hit and run you'll always make the bastard angry for life.

Now that I think about, I really don't know what the hell I was thinking back then. I've always been skinny. In high school I weighed 125 at 5'11. Anyways that said, there have been numerous times where I not only stood my ground, but was practically begging to get punched in the face. I remember in middle school, 3 or 4 of the kids tried to bully me. Not only did I not back down, I pretty much insulted all 3 of them pretty badly. It got to the point where the guy pretty much said, I talk big, but can I follow through. Anyways, it was pretty anti-climatic. Nothing really happened, and those 3 eventually backed off.
I've had a few fights in middle school, but pretty much nothing afterwards all the way until now. Even now, I probably won't back down, unless my life is in danger, but I probably wouldn't be stupid enough to provoke the matter either.
