to create a new topic or to necrobump?

I was reading a bit of posts and it seems we look down on people who post new topics that have been started already; we also tend to call people out for reviving dead posts. My question is which way should topic be revisited in the future? Or do we simply decide that once a topic has been discussed it can never be revisited again?(obviously not lol)
What do you guys think a plausible solution is.

I believe someone already mentioned this dilemma.
From what I've seen, Jacob is perfectly fine with necrobumps and Gambler mentioned that it's better to continue a topic already existing that to create a new one that is exactly the same. I also agree with that notion and if you must necrobump at least make it worth it.

i agree with rbz and das
better necrobump than create new threads
if everyone would create a new topic just because the old one's too old sections would be spammed with similar topics
so better revive an old thread

so can we all agree to not call out necrobumps?well like rbz and das said
only if there's a good reason

Whether it was worth it or not depends on us. Some people will still call out necrobumps no matter what.

People will post random comments bout necros as they did till now. Can't really be helped I guess. Besides most of those are fairly harmless and non-insulting (albeit pointless) IMO so I'd just leave them be.

As long as it's necrobumped for a good reason i see no problem.
Necrobumping something only to say "Lolololo!" or "I agree!!1!" is the wrong way and retarded way.

The problem with necrobumps is not the act of necrobumping but the way it is done.
Nobody wants to see someone revive a dead topic with something like,"lol that was funny", it makes no contribution to the thread at all and is a complete waste of time. I should also mention that the majority of the bashing of necrobumps are towards newfags during a time when people were spamming to get their post counts up (Motemote season).
Bumps should be used to further the discussion, not bring up a topic that holds no relevance or weight amongst our peers. Course, threads based on the OP's ideas, like stories (get to work on those next chapter Raze and York), can acceptably be bumped to bug remind the OP,"Hey, we enjoyed this thread, please continue what you are doing to contribute to this society with this discussion you started".
And, you know, shit like that. (I'm having a mental lapse, and can't seem to express my thoughts intelligibly)

My Opinion has been voiced already.
I just don't like Multiple topics on the same thing, it makes it alot harder to find the original discussion thread of the topic you were looking for, So I am Pro-Necrobump (With contributions to discussion) and Anti-New Topic about same thing...

wow. you took the words right outta my mouth. i never really saw a problem with necrobumps anyways, though yesterday i called out one (dancing?) i revived a few thread. some like when they just say "lol" or "i lol'd" or something along those line is just something to get their post count up. necrobumps are much better than making 47 different topics about the same exact topic. this should be turned into a poll; pro nercobumps or pro new repeat topics

This has been discussed before.

I also expressed my opinion in this thread.

And an example of what I mean when I say contribute to a topic when bumping.

In most of the forums bumping an already existing topic is the way to go. On Random and Incoherent Babbling I prefer you just create a new topic.
There is no such thing as a repost in Random/IB.
aznstoner is completely right though:
