UK import query

In the same vein as hellomellowyellows' topic, has anyone from the UK ever had any incidents when it came to importing?

I've had some fairly tame stuff come through without any issues and everything from Fakku has managed to make it across but I'm going to be adding to my collection very rapidly very soon, and would appreciate some of your input in regards to what you managed to slip past or if you got caught out.

I'm still waiting for Renai Sample to come trough, then again i live in The Netherlands which is Europe and should be the same postal service but screws up from time to time... the only issue i had with postal so far is hardware related (mic's, blueray players, replacement cables etc.) since apparently i need to pay 20,50 euro extra just to be able to receive them even tough i already paid for shipping ._.

Manga's, Doujins', Anime and dvd's seem to pass trough without a hitch and without extra costs.... so i guess i'll have to wait and see what happens...

Anyways back on topic, it depends on what you're trying to get, books and dvds/bluerays usually pass w/o issues but hardware from outside Europe usually gets extra expensive ._.

Same here, in France, though is also happened to me for a pack of futabu doujins (because the box was big I guess, blame mandarake for putting it in a package ten times the size needed).
Same occurrence can happen if you import anime figures.
Also happened when I imported an eroge once, and yet again the package was oversized.
Didn't occur during my most recent arrival (a wallscroll), so I guess it's random.
In general when it goes by the customs you can expect to have to pay something upon receiving, even as you paid shipping.
