What do you think is chubby?

So I had this conversation with some friends about Fashion and female shapes and what kind of clothes fit what kind of curves. Then we suddenly got into Japanese fashion and Japanese weight standards. Since we both love Japanese fashion we wanted to to Japan to for shopping but wasn't sure we could fit any of their clothes because of this chart



Where the percentages show chubbiness. I'm a bit curious about what you think about this and what you guys think is chubby?

Agreeing with Princess M up top, the furthest one is as close to chubby as you can get by that standard, but I look at chubby as being even a little more then that.

What I consider chubby (bold are the biggest assets to this)


I personally think chubby is cute/sexy myself, my boyfriend is in the chubby category and I find it adorable (>w<)

I would say 100% as well, but from what I know I think the concept of being chubby is different from eastern countries to western countries. For example, here in Korea most people would agree that you are either skinny, normal, or fat. There is nothing in between normal and fat, which is chubby (correct me if I am wrong). I don't know if this applies in Japan though.

I think 100% too. Although, in my opinion I wouldn't think of that as 100% chubbiness, it'll be more on the 60% mark.

My friends recently went to Japan and their body looks to be around 60% and 80% in that picture, they managed to find decent clothes!

When you can't put on a bikini and look good in it any more its time to move to a one piece suit to hold in the excess.

I always thought chubby and fat were the same thing, while husky was somewhere in between skinny and chubby.

I used to be overweight before so I don't really like chubby women. That being said, 20% to 40% seems just fine to me. Anything over that is unacceptable.

80% to 0% is completely normal. 100% is starting to approach it, but far from it.

I agree with everybody here, 100% is the only thing that resembles 'chubbiness' if even that. I guess either being chubby or not is in the eyes of the looker (and it is).

Hehe, i just thought that if your waist covers any part of your bikinis / panties you might be chubby.

100% is the closest one on that chart, though to be fair if she had more of an hourglass shape then the weight would have a more distributed look.

I think to really define chubby you have to look how weight is distributed on the body. Like one of the posters above me, chubby cheeks, love handles, etc, THAT is chubby. But different people carry weight differently on their bodies.

10%, 20%, and 40% looks the best on that chart for me personally. The top 4 are just... very disturbing.

I personally like the 80% most. 100% still looks okay, but anything more could be considered chubby.

100% is the closest but doesn't quite make it. Maybe add another 20% and we're in Chubsville.
