Um... since im not gonna buy any of them day one, safe to say that battlefield 3 gets my vote, mostly because it looks stunning and plays stunning. For modern warfare..... god... the formula has been overused too much, plus all they improved was the modern warfare 2 engine, looks okay... i guess. Ill probably get both eventually.... eventually.

Well, despite the fact that EA has issued a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) there have been a handful of idiots on TwitchTV that have been broadcasting the alpha for Battlefield 3, and I gotta say I wasn't terribly impressed. I mean, if it is like Bad Company 2, but with smaller, more engaging maps, then I might have fun. However, short of that it looks like the next bland shooter in the series.
Speaking of bland shooters, Modern Warfare 3 is probably gonna suck. Short of them going back to the roots of Modern Warfare and World at War, the Call of Duty franchise just keeps getting worse and worse. Ridiculous killstreaks and unbalanced guns and perks are the name of the game now, and it is a shame.

I never played any of the BF games, but have played nearly all of the COD games( since they were the only ones availible to me at the time). I'm just gonna say, people here are talking too much about game engines and functions, where as we all just wanna hear if you think if it's gonna be a good game, which some of you have answered. All I've been hearing is "This game rocks, this game sucks," I feel that no one is really looking at the two games with a fair eye.
I think MW3 is probably gonna be good, since I liked the fact that they turned it away from the whole WW2 story. I found that the game was fun and engaging, and hope this game gives more story, since the last one didn't have a great telling of their's.
For BF3, again, I never played a game in the series. But, from what I saw in trailers and gameplays, I thought that the game looked pretty kick-ass. I haven't watched a walkthrough, so I can't tell anything for the story telling, and no one so far has mentioned anything for the actual story goes.

It seems most of the guys here choose their game solely on the online multiplayer...
IMO, BF's singleplayer (bad company) is horrible, it was just too bland. If the value of these games just amount to the quality of their online experience, they should really just remove the campaign altogether.

There are still people who but these FPS games purely for the story because they dont fancy online multiplayer, so the developers have to appeal to that crowd too. I loved playing the MW2 campaign, I hope the MW3 one delivers too, and the only Battlefield games I have played were bad company, and I liked the first BFBC campaign better than the second one because it made me laugh a couple times.

Battlefield can humiliate Call of duty on the PS3 version if BF3 is PS sharpshooter compatible. Just imagine being able to play BF3 with the sharpshooter. The game play will be so much better compared to MW3 and the xbox version of both games because you won't be using a controller rather a replica gun for a better experience.

BF's a PC-centric shooter and I don't think the developers would dare try to intigrate a new control scheme for a gimicky product and risk not having the game reach its full potential because of it. But yeah, I can agree. Using the sharpshooter would make the game a good deal more interesting than MW3. And hey, there's also the kinect to consider. Though, there's no prop guns for the kinect, sadly.

Spoiler:
There will be no way that could work on the kinect. You'll have to pretend your hand is the gun. LOL, phew phew! But yeah this is what i hate about 3rd party games. they try to make the experience equal on all platforms.
@DasMarine FPS's require no skill to play. Just camp in a corner to win. A replica gun is so much better then a controller. Just look at killzone and socom. They play even better then with a controller and soon to come uncharted 3 and resistance 3.

Take for example, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, and virtually every game made by id, Valve, and Bethesda.

Didn't SOCOM 4 get generally bad reviews? I think it had a 67 or something on metacritic.

Those were good i can't say nothing there. Most but not all.
FUCK reviews!!!!!1
God i hope you don't even read those bias reviews. "IGN"norant , gayspot , 1gay, queer informer, etc. Socom 4 is a excellent game. Many people hated on it because they thought it would be like call of duty where you can just run around and do your own thing. In socom you need to work as a team to win. its a great game that you should really try it out sometime.

Actually, the way I hear, it's the other way around. That the game deviated from it's roots and BECAME too gung-ho action instead of the realistic, tactic-heavy, teamwork-dependent shooter that the series is known for.

Its a great game for multiplayer. The story is meh to me. But the multiplayer man its great! 32 players,3D, Sharpshooter compateble for better accuracy. Its a good game, its really addicting. Back on topic how much do you want to bet those "Bloggers" will give MW3 a 10/10? COD used to be the shit but as soon a black ops hit the stores that was they're downfall

Here's a few things I've read about the multiplayer. There's no longer any lobby system, instead the game opted for COD style quick matches The multiplayer has no party system, so being on the same team as your friends depends on how lucky you are. There's complaints from people having problems with the mic system too, making teamwork even harder, if your teammates were interested in such a thing to begin with that is. On top of that, they added the need for experience points to unlock weapon attachments and even added a killstreak system.
If anything this is just a bastardized version of the older SOCOM games I'm familiar with that took far too many ideas from COD. I've played SOCOM 2 with my friends before and used to have a great time with it. But based off of how SOCOM 4 looks now, I'm not even the slightest bit interested
