Aion: A fakku fresh start.

Well, the servers are back online and I've reached level 12 at the end of the day. Spiritmaster plays out exactly as I thought it would and holy shit fall damage is intense.
It's a good game. It'll tide me over till The Old Republic comes around.

The lag is downright unbearable at times. I've died several times because of it, and I'm always missing chain abilities. The constant teleporting back is also a pain in the ass. I hope the servers are a little more well maintained during launch.
I also hate the disconnections. Can't connect to the authorization server? Closes your client. Can't connect to the game server? Closes your client. Can't connect to the server list? Closes your client.
I mean is that shit really necessary? They can't just throw you back to the log in screen?

Servers are down to fix the lag. I'm glad they are fixing that. The beta was unplayable.

Yeah, I find it hard to stay on and play since it's beta. Characters being wiped and all that. So, I'll see you all during launch.

heh, this is the time you use to assume yourself the class you want to play is the one you start first. I've already made 4 of the 8 possible classes (to 10+) but I'm still set on cleric.
I'm using this time to test most of the guild things as well; I want to see how it works.

Ranger is a solid class, but you have to be willing to put forth a little effort. I've seen a dozen rangers die because they just stand at a single point and try to shoot down a mob, rather than kiting the enemy (snare is one of your first skills for a reason).
You have to be attentive enough to not run into other enemies, pay attention to timers and move around a bit, but I get through most battles completely unscathed. And I can only see the class getting better as the game progresses and I get more skills that utilize the bow.

I would have liked to play a class somewhat similar to the shaman in WoW. I used to be an enhancement shaman and it was so much fun just having both magic and melee. I guess that a chanter is close to it but... I hate having 30 seconds of buff then just getting destroyed because I have a glass-jaw. Spirit master is... okay but not as solid as a warlock. I'm probably going to re-roll several times on Asmodian to try out the classes and not get weary of the Elyos landscape.

I'm digging the ranger, but I'm having a lot of fun as a priest, too. I also still want to try out sorcerer... I have no idea who my main will be. I will probably end up with a ranger main, and sorcerer and cleric as alts. If we need more clerics, I could make that my main, but it sounds like we have a couple already.

Im liking Templar, surprisingly there's not many of them. Being able to take alot of hits without dieing is great. Just got back from a 8 person quest and my templar was the only one who wouldn't get 2-3 shotted (or one shotted in a few cases). Like being a necessary class since being replaceable sucks. I might level a Sorcerer alt incase I get bored or feel like changing things up a bit but for now Templar seems to suit me just fine.

so how do i get in on this shindig?what server and race are you guys playing?
We're playing on the Israphel server on the Elyos side. It's still open beta so I'm not exactly sure if we'll be playing on the same server or race.

i played Aion since it is just come out of beta for China server (it is very hard to get a beta key... only 100-ish per day giving out and load of chinese are after it)
it is a alright game (no surprise since it is made by NCsoft)
here is something you guys can think of before picking a class...
ranger:
Pro: if macro right you will never get hit by melee monster
above average in flying pvp (due to range)
flying give extra shooting rage
can stealth
there is some spot where you can shoot off cliff and monster have to walk around it (some in abyss)
Con: less dps than assassin and mage
mage:
Pro: hig burst damage (like every other game)
above average in flying pvp (due to range)
flying give extra magic power
Con: like every other game...soft skin
assassin: this is what i played, regret it for reason below
Pro: good melee burst due to crit (if gear/gem it right)
better stealth and stealth detection than ranger
above average in GROUND pvp
if timed right, you can dodge/immune hit or magic for few hit
Con: survival all depends on your timing and lag
leveling will hurt your finger (each monster will require you to spam keys unlike other class, x4 more key hitting TRUST ME ON THIS)
warlock:
Pro: above average in PvE solo due to have pet tank
Con: everything include pvp
healing class... well they are hard to kill and lots of group need them so yea, no comments on them
tank:
Pro: pull and hold monster best, what i mean pull i mean PULL (think of it like pudge's hook)
pulling is useable in PvP!!!!!! (IMPORTANT)
it is funny to pull someone and that unlucky bastard will just die, it is natural for everyone to hit the closest target no?
1 is a must for instance/elite group
Con: low dps due to suck in leveling up SOLO
and there is other melee class, more dps one no comments on that one

some experience of the gameplay (mostly about assassin since i play as one, but i'll give some other opinion about other class as well)
PvE
it is ALWATS better to level on monster that is lower than you!!! for one reason, when the monster is SAME or ABOVE you they got pretty damn high resis on your stun/disable moves.
well life as a scout (pre assassin/ranger)... low level suck, soft and melee and limited skills to use. but after a while you will do pretty good in solo, time and combo your skills right and you can take little damage and kill it good. ranger won't have slow when you job change right away, but not that you need one anyway, can still melee as good as new assassin
mage...i hate you early game (lol) they own newbie land at low level when server is new (the newbie land is CAMPED) they are the only GOOD range so they KS everything and get quest done first. when i was scout i spend x4 more time to get out of the newbie land due to mage ksing
str melee, grab a 2 hand weapon and wack away. some chinese say polearm is best for w/e reason i donno, not that i play the class anyway so i don't do much research, but DO NOT use a shield before job change since it slower your leveling. save your best if you are going to be a tank
elite/instance:
like wow, elite monster are in both instance and global map. they net one of the best exp in the game so if a tank and a healer KNOW each other and play hardcore they can outlevel the best solo class in the game.
not much to say here, it is almost like wow but easier. a tank a healer few mage...etc.
but here is something you ranger/mage can look into and think about it:
mage can solo easy elites
2~3 rangers can kill super elite melee ogre... one way is kitting, other one is hide on a bug cliff and kill it
elite monster (even if it is lower level than you) it is a bitch to stun it, i mean a real BITCh! i say 10% success if it is 3 level below you as a assassin.
soon or later you guys will have to hit the global elite party, one of the quest give a godly item that increase your movement speed. got to collect them from elite orcs

Profession:
i was going for smithing, unlike wow profession give one of the best weapons to the class.
some profession give more than 1 benefit! alchimist can make potion and also craft something else...i think is weapon for mage...not too sure
like wow, you go to nods and harvest it, harvest time will be depends on your skill level. if master it takes 1 sec per harvest. it can failed like wow
crafting also, time per try also depends on your skill
if you have the gold, you can just camp in your town and skill up your skills! yea no need to buy massive copper bars like wow just to level up low level enginner/smith skills
i'll do pvp if you guys suggest me to write about it, not too sure if this thread is dead or not

Wow many of the things are wrong
Mage (Sorc) are the best class the play while flying, you will constantly get gank in the abyss by flying Sorc.
Ranger are the second best class the play while flying, they fucking rape Sorc to no tomorrow, they are better dps than assassin (PvE wise).
Warlock (Spiritmaster) is the best solo class (pure grinding). We just did 1 to 25 in 15 hours today.
Tank (Templar) is the best solo pvper and the most important class. Templar and Cleric are seriously tied for best solo pvper. But i'll give the Templar since Cleric can get stun and burst down while most Templar have over 90% resistance to stun/knockdown and butt load of hp. And like you said, they can pull players, so any range character (lol low hp), they pull them and rape them instant, one of their attack can easly do 1k to 2k damage, and the most hp range character will have is 6k (back when i played when max lvl was 45).
Level grinding mobs lower than you is the WORST idea. Even if they resist that because your farming the wrong mob (mobs with high resistance).
Elite grinding only be good in the higher 30's. So if they are Krall grinding in Veteron they are doing it wrong.
for crafting not everything has a benefit.
Armorsmith = Plate/mail armor, head/belt , Shield
Sewing = Leather / Cloth armor, head/belt
Weaponsmith = 1h sword , Polearm , Mace , etc
Alchemist = pots / orb (Sorc weap)
Handiwork = Staff , Book, Earring, Ring,
Cooking = don't need to explain
