Best and Worst Collector's Editions
0
Since I preordered Mass Effect 2: Collector's Edition, I was wondering about your views on the best and worst collector's edition.
My favourite would have to be Fallout 3 and BioShock.
Fallout 3: CE included an actual tin Fallout 3 lunch box, a Vault-Tec bobblehead, hardcover art of Fallout 3, making of DVD and of course, the game itself.
For an extra $10, you get an actual figurine of a Big Daddy in the LE of BioShock. Pretty fucking sweet. There's also the basic Making Of DVD and a soundtrack.
As for the worst, I really have no idea.

The best ones are the ones you can't buy from retail stores.
Like the Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition. It contained the game, a replica of the Phurba Dagger artifact and stand, a BradyGames strategy guide, an art book, the official soundtrack, and a collector's case autographed by Naughty Dog.
Wish I was lucky enough to win that.

The ones I like to most in my collection are Fallout 3 (Lunchbox with bobblehead)
And Anno 1404 (A treasure chest, art book, amandel seeds, old fashioned compass, exlusive DVD and a poster)

Worst would be ones that charge you like $20 more for like a special case and a soundtrack.. pointless.

The problem with that is that when they half-ass it and you don't even get the entire soundtrack.. just part of it.

If I'm one of the first to pre-order then I get the collectors edition for the price of the normal game. me and my brother got a Modern Warfare 2 T-shirt along when we pre-ordered our Hardened editions.

Dragon Age. Wasn't much, mostly in game stuff but the collectors edition box and map was fucking pretty.

Ever only bought one Collector's Edition in my life: Oblivion. At the time I thought it was really nice, and I still think the extra lore, the map and all that shit is pretty sweet, but now I find myself thinking that the Septim coin that you got... Wasn't really worth the extra money xD

Also, BlazBlue's CE was quite good. Not only did you receive a complete soundtrack, but you also got a DVD which actually explained the game mechanics and teaches a whole lot of character-specific stuff.. Probably the greatest thing a fighting game can include with it.

I'm skeptical on whether I should get the $100 special edition of BioShck 2 or just get the game for my birthday

Mmh, mine was Lineage 2 special collectors edition (2posters, 1 HUGE worldmap poster, 2 soundtrack CDs, original game + exclusive item, 3x 1week friend passes and a storybook)

Also, I have the Fallout 3 special edition, which is nice since it came with the artbook, bobblehead, and Pipboy 3000 clock.

I would have to say that the best CE games I have are:
Final Fantasy XII - I got it used for the same price as the standard game
Halo Wars - Same deal as FFXII (GameStop rocks XD )
Worst:
Myst 10 Year anniversary: I love the games and all, but I have to rank it in the worst because it is 3 DVDs, and it kinda crashed our desktop.
Other:
Metroid Prime Trilogy: I had and had gotten everything from the original releases. This re-release has some pretty nifty stuff but it will be a pain getting more friend vouchers... Also, the controls will take some getting used to, but definitely worth it. The only complaint I have is switching beams is kinda hard.
