Best Final Fantasy series

I always had a soft spot for FF9. The story was captivating, the setting was awesome, the characters were great and the battles were a lot of fun! I also love FF9 the most due to it's incredibly simple gameplay (equip armor/weapons, learn ability, switch to better weapons. Wash, rinse, repeat), the funny and rewarding "Chocobo hot&cold" sidequest, plus I still have a thing for Garnet/dagger. That little skin-tight suit of hers~
I do agree that Quina was weird as fuck, probably the weirdest character in the series...
My 2nd favorite FF would probably the 7th. It's got my favorite Cid character of the franchise, Cid Highwind.
3rd Favorite might be 4 or 8...

Imo, Zidane = best FF protagonist evar! The only protagonist in the series who is actually smooth with the ladies when he tries.
Actually, Zidane is the only one in the whole series who actually has to work hard to get the ladies, so that's plus points. The "everyone-fall-for-the-protagonist" move is overrated
Lol, I never really thought about it before, but wow, you're right. He had to work to wear Garnet down...

I hate how FF9 is vastly overlooked by many new FF fans simply because it ain't in a futuristic setting, they don't know what they're missing out on.
But then again, if it ain't got laz0rs it ain't worth any attention right?

Locke and Edgar did pretty well, but they also had to work for it
My personal fave is 6. I played every FF, but the only one I played over and over again is 6, I never tire of it, its a great game. I really like the fact that there isnt really a single protagonist. Everybody in your team has baggage and everybody fights for something. The world of ruin is the best thing that happened to my SNES ever, or to my RPG loving shenanigan ever for that matter

I liked Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Didn't care much about the rest to be honest. Final Fantasy ain't even one of my favourite JRPG series. Tales, Persona and Dragon Quest take that spot.

Mustn't Run Away...
My favorite ? Eh , don't really have one it's a throw up between 7-9...honestly the ENTIRE FF series is REALLY overrated to me,now I'm in no way saying the FF series is bad in fact I love and have serious respect for it , but I DO NOT find it to have the best RPG for any system on its line-up great maybe ,but their where better ,and I'm pretty bored of hearing about only FF..I mean come on guys their are A LOT of great RPG series out their.

The Lord of Butts!
I liked Finaly fantasy 8 the most followed by FFX on second place. Spent like 500 hours on X and more than 15 times cleared 8 ^_^

Of the ones I played? I really can't decide between 8 and 9, X was pretty good too. Then I got to 12 and just stopped halfway through.

If you take into account the game's place in the environment of games when it came out, I'd say VII is the greatest achievement in that regard.
In more absolute terms I think:
-XII has the best overall gameplay(unless XIII is better, haven't played it).
-VII has the most memorable characters.
-VII has the best world.
-X has the most awesome summons.
-Not sure which one I would say had the best story
VII is my overall favorite.

I take it we are going with individual games rather than games that create a series? The only Final Fantasy game I've beaten was IV, but I also really enjoyed the amounts of V and VI that I played.

Honestly, I liked FF7 and FFT the best.
FF7 is only FF game that i even finished and attempted the endgame bosses. xD
Well, FFT is also the game I completely beaten.
To give you a idea of how much I used to play FFT, I have three PS1 memory cards, and, two of them is completely filled to the brim with FFT saves. Yes, I replayed it that much O_o
And everytime I replayed FFT I always do something different, XD So, every time I played from beginning to ending my party's always different, hell.
I had a save where everyone is squires just cuz squires is that cool.

Oh, you must mean: "Which Final Fantasy game is the best out of the series?"
VI

Out of the ones I've played (III, VI, IX, X), definitely IX. I need to get a PS1 memory card so I can play it on a real PlayStation instead of crappy emulators.
