Bros, do you happen to know some games?

So recently, resulting from an irc chat with animeholic and because my computer was just enough to handle it, I decided to play Portal. I was amazed by how much I enjoyed that game even though my pc is so weak, and because I'll soon be out of school, now I feel like playing some more nice pc games.
And here's where I ask for your help for PC game recommendations. Please keep a few things in mind:
1) My computer is a 7 year old Pentium 4 with 1GB RAM and an ATI graphics card. So it was just enough to play Portal. But heavier games like say, San Andreas or FEAR don't work well.
2)Please no real time strategy games like Age of Empires.
3)No sims.
I can't think of any other restrictions. Oh, I've already played Max Payne 1 and 2, just so you know (and they run well).
Thanks in advance for your help!

Try Unreal Tournament 2004. Was pretty damn time consuming for me.

Hentanize - I can't even run it on minimum because of my graphics card. And for the recommended specs I fail at CPU speed and RAM as well.
Don't know the system requirements though...
Just checked the specs and it requires about the same as Portal. So I should be able to play it with slightly downgraded graphics. Will look for the game, thanks Nash.

Tanasinn
The Bellpepper
American McGees Alice
Trackmania [any of them really]
Indigo Prophecy [as good as the game looks, it only needs like 64mb video memory...somehow]
Obscure
hm most of my suggestion are within the horror genre [except trackmania]

Back the fuck up, you played Portal but not TF2? Nigga, if you're gonna pirate Portal, pirate the whole fucking Orange Box. What I'm saying is, play Half-Life 2, which happens to be my favorite game.
I have realized that I've never played Half-Life 1. I am ashamed and I will be getting it shortly. Kuro, you should play it too.
UT 2004
Half-Life 1 & 2
^All FPS. Try to tolerate their graphics (compared to modern day shit, of course).

Portal 2, the half life series, possibly just possibly a bethesda game if you can lower the graphics enough for it to run.

For Half-Life 1 you can get a hi-def gfx pack, which makes it look a lot better.
Not up to today's standards, but definitely an improvement.

Word, I'd like this pack as well. I've started playing HL1 (about half an hour), and the graphics really are old school. But gameplay seems tolerable.

if you're into turn based strategy and dond mind REAL Old school graphics (i mean 1995 Old school, not 2k2 old school) then i'd try X-COM series. reeeeeally hooked me up when i was 14 or so

UT2004 Still looks sick even though the game has aged.
Not to mention the stupid amounts of mods and mutators you can download for it.
For torture challenge play instagib with godlike bots it'll put hairs on your virtual chest.
Also since people haven't mentioned them.
System Shock 2 and Deus Ex.
Old graphics but awesome story and atmosphere makes up for the dated visuals though there are graphics mods that revamps the games eye candy.
Specially System Shock 2 even though its graphics are dated it can still give you a good couple of scary moments.

also features LAN gaming, which make the whole thing a lot easier, since every player can specialize on certain fields
