Used PS3 60gb is able to play PS2 games, the 120 cannot. Compile that with the fact they stopped making 60gbs years ago, it makes it worth more than a new 120gb ps3. There is no other way to make your PS3 play all PS2 games then using a no longer manufactured 60gb. So you are SOL if you want to still play PS2 games but don't want to have two sony consoles hooked up to your Tv.

That isn't how Gamestop decides their prices. If something is older it sells for less. You won't see a copy of Persona selling for sixty dollars just because it's an immensely popular game.
It'll be twelve dollars because it's a PS2 game.
Nope, I used to work there. Another example is how Marvel vs Capcom 2 was $59.99 up until they re-released it on PSN. It was a game already 8 years old. They price their games like any retailer prices anything, because of supply and demand. Persona isn't in high demand by mainstream society, just people into that kind of gaming.
Look at MW2 on their site right now. I bet that despite coming out BEFORE Mass Effect 2 it will be higher in price because nobody trades the game in so it is more rare and in more demand than a newer game like Mass Effect 2.
60gbs PS3s are more rare and in higher demand than PS3 120gb so obviously the price is going to be higher despite however long its been out.
Gamestop doesn't follow any price guidlines for its used merchandise like other retailers because the don't get used merchandise from manufacturers or publishers. They buy it all from customers, so they can charge whatever they want since they effectively become a pawn shop.
Matter of fact, some Gamestops are considered pawn shops and in states like Texas, Florida, and Louisiana they have to hold the merchandise for 30 days before selling it just like a pawn shop would (in case the used merchandise was stolen).

I live in Florida and we have to hold systems for 30 days before we can sell them. Along with some other merch. Depending on stock.

So I guess you're unaware of Gamestop's various trollings / fuckups. Here's two similar examples: 1, 2.I have no idea how those fuckers get away with all the shit they do to their customers.
I can say that for video 1, that happens because people her news of a PS2 price drop, and decide to buy one when they maybe never thought of doing so before. Since we knew this, we raise the price since we know people are now out looking at PS2s when they weren't before.
Video 2 is because of gameday sales, and Gamestop honestly hates New Games. We have to sell as many used games as possible, new games are just to make publishers happy. Game stop gets 10-15 percent of a new game sale. So for a 60 dollar game we get 6 bucks. However, Gamestop gets 100% of used game sales because none of the money goes to the people who made the game since gamestop didn't get the game from them, gamestop paid you, the customer. So they own the game completely. This is why they will sell a new name for less then a used one, so you can get it off the shelf and trade it in, and letting us sell it as used.
It is also why EA started doing that activation code with games like Mass Effect, so people will buy New instead of Used since Game Companies don't get any used game sales money.
It isn't evil, it is just smart business, and honestly it saves customers money in the longer run...

I understand both sides of the argument but still hearing about Gamestop makes me feel like Capt. Ivan Danko!!
Im from Europe so there are no Gamestops here but we do have a little shop here called 'Game' and ive given up shopping on the high street completely (I just buy my shit online now or from Supermarkets like Tescos) because they (Game) just rip the piss with the way they set prices ETC. (I dont feel loved by dedicated games/movie stores anymore)
Also id never even consider buying an used copy of anything now... Its risky business! (I have bought used in the past just to try out the concept and regretted it big time. In my experience its simply not worth the hassle)
$34.99 for something used? FUCK THAT!!! (Thats like 22 squids) >__<
You hold the used item in your clammy little paws and you seriously dont feel the love, You dont even get that new game smell, Its kinda pathetic! (Thats the way I look at it) Even an used car gets valeted but games are like Wham Bam Raspberry Jam! :(

The Lord of Butts!
There are also various playstation 1 games (original) that are from 80$ upwards like Evil Zone and Final Fantasy 7//8. Its the rarity that make them go high.
Same goes for Ebay.
