Well i've been thinking about buying a 360 for awhile now yet never really wanted to due to the hardware issues and constant reports of RRoDs. I'd love to have one since I already have the Wii and ps3. It expands my gaming library but may leave me dry in the long run.
What do you think and how should i take care of it?

I've had my 360 since 2006, main reasons for purchase were DOAX2 and Oblvion. It still works.
I think that, so long as you don't play it beyond 5 hours a day and keep it in a spot with free ventilation, then it should be fine.

XBOX HAS THE BEST SERVICE COMPARED TO PS3 AND WII: FACT
BEING THAT I HAVE ALL 3 XOX LIVE IS MORE WELCOMING, GETS ALL OF THE NEW STUFF FIRST( LIKE COD MW2 MAPS) AND THEY HAVE A SHIT LOAD OF GAMES

I'd say go for it. It has a great library of games - I mean, Mass Effect and Forza alone - and the best online service imo (even if you do have to pay for it), as well as PC/media centre functionality. I think the PS3 has become a better package with the Blu-Ray and a lot of decent games coming into the fray, but the 360 is definitely worth having.

I like PS3 myself, but seeing as you already have one and have cash to spare apparently, why not pick up a 360?

If you want it get it though I would say as others have that owning an 360 is a bit like owning an M16 [AR15 if you live in Europe] you best keep it very clean and cool or it'll jam up on you.
Other than that owning all 3 is always nice for game library and variety boosts.

Imo, save more money and buy a good gaming PC.Normally, I'd agree with you if the person in question has plenty of experience with PCs, but I don't know if that's the case right now.
The 360 is a good console and, from what I've heard about the new model, the RROD problem is virtually non-existant. Also, the new model is quieter and has built in wifi, which is also a plus.

Well I have a 360 and a Wii so my opinion is already biased/skewed depending on how someone looks at it, but I'm very happy with my 360. It has an excellent library of games just as the PS3 and I do believe that it has a better online support, but that should be the case as you have to pay for Gold.
I think it is far too early to say what the console failure rating will be on the new Xbox 360 S, but even if it is not as low as Microsoft claims (and wishes) it to be I'm assuming the three-year-warranty on the RROD and E74 errors are still in effect even for the S model. Depending on the season in which you send it in, you often will get it back very fast. I had to send mine in a couple of years ago during July and I got it back that same week. While I've heard of some people sending it in during the Holiday Season and not getting it back for a few weeks.

Remember me?
Considering you already have a PS3 and a Wii, I suggest you only get a 360 is you have the money- don't work for it or you'll be dissapointed.

I don't see why you shouldn't, especially if you want it.
I had it for past 3 years now, and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Never had any technical problems, and it has a broad selection of games to choose from.
I don't see why you would be disappointed with it in the long run.
Bottom line:
It's not bad, and if you have the resources and will to go through it, you should.

most good 360 games have ports to PC and/or PS3.
use the money to buy a good graphics card and you'll be playing the same games on 4x the resolution

Didn't they fix the rrod?I never got it and I used to play on it 10 hours a day.
Oh I don't know what the error rating is. It might be within industry standards now, but it is still there. All the consoles have their own percentage levels for errors and system failures. The 360 will never be rid of the RROD or the E74 just as the PS3 will never be rid of the YLOD. Likewise, even the Wii will forever have a chance of failing.

If you are going to buy it, buy the older version because the new one heats up WAY TOO FAST and when it does, it auto shuts down without warning. It can also destroy your disk if you tilt the console while it's running.
If you are indeed going to get the older version, you should also get an intercooler which is an awesome fan thing which helped me out like fuck. When I first got the xbox I used to be scared of the RROD and only played for 6 hours after which I let it cool down for 2 hours. With this thing I can play over 12 hours straight. The only bad thing about it is that if one of the fans gets a little messed up it will be pretty noisy. It's an awesome accessory nonetheless.
Anyways, good luck with your decision.

Okay the disc thing is stupid. That viral video was of a moron who tried to move his 360 with a disc in motion. It's stupid enough to move the console while the disc isn't spinning, nevertheless being dumb enough to move it while spinning. Damage to the disc can and would likely occur with all consoles, not just the 360. It should be common sense not to move the console while the disc is stupid. I may get flammed for saying this, but if a person is dumb enough to move the console while it is running they deserve to have their disc(s) scratched.
Two. Be careful if you do take the advice on an Intercooler. Most of them on the market should be the correct one, but some may still have the older v1 model, which can actually cause more harm to your 360 rather than help keep it cool.

ok that isn't true. the technology has been around forever to protect the disk from scratches on the move.(portable CD players of the 1900s)
