Classic X-COM games

I don't know how many of you have ever heard of them or played them before the new FPS game was announced but they were originally Tactical Turn Based Strategy games where you gave orders to a paramilitary group created to fend off the alien invaders. Any description I attempt to give it wouldn't do it justice so I advise doing some research of your own instead.
My main purpose of this thread is to let old fans of the game who may have lost their copies or can't get them to work, Steam has them up for $5 a piece, including two games I didn't know existed, one being what looks like a third person shooter and the other a space fighter sim or whatever it's called. Or, if you're planning on getting more than one you can get all five for $15.
I can't wait to get a chance to play X-COM Apocalypse again and give UFO Defense a try, as well as give Terror From the Deep another go and hope I don't die on the first mission again like the last three times I tried... Anyone else thing TFTD is harder than Apocalypse?

Never got around to trying Apocalypse, loved the first game, though. Really should someday get the pack from Steam... TFTD was not really as good as the first UFO in my opinion, and apparently I'm not the only one. IIRC, it was pretty much made to cash in on the first game's popularity, with no new input from Mythos (the original developer). Pretty much shows, too. What I hate the most about TFTD is that the enemy bases are, at least what I can gather from my own experience, always at the same places, lowering the replay value to pretty much zero. On the other hand, the first game is still one of my absolute favorites.

Oh my god I used to love playing this series. I'm actually super disappointed that they're turning it into a FPS. Why? Aren't there enough? Give me my tactical games *pout*
My laptop is a piece of shit (12" Mac Powerbook G4, fight strong, little one *pats laptop*) so I've been avoiding Steam knowing it'll only break my heart.
But this makes me want to try anyway.

Well, that's what I get for only checking the master list of games thread and not looking for myself, but I'd rather bring to notice a way of owning the five games in a way that (financially) shows that there is still an interest in the classic X-COM games and that not everyone wants more frigging FPS games. If we just boycott the new game regardless of if it's actually worth playing they may just completely dump the series again. So if people at least buy these off steam it sends more of the message we want to send as opposed to just pirating them.

since there were some hassle with Hasbro interactive (went Out of busines, and took the X-Com rights to their grave) there should be no problem
