Command And Conquer Generals 2? OMIGOSH
0
BioWare’s much-teased new game is, as rumours have suggested, a new Command & Conquer instalment, Generals 2.
In development at new studio BioWare Victory and due on PC in 2013, the Frostbite 2-powered RTS puts players in charge of three unique factions in a near-future conflict that sees military leaders running the world. ”World leaders are mere seconds away from signing a peace treaty and bringing an end to a global war when a devastating terrorist attack rips through the conference, killing everyone in attendance, leaving only the world’s military superpowers in control,” the official EA blurb reads.
“It’s up to you to assume their roles, take command of their forces and conquer global terrorism once and for all. Players will take control of three unique factions in a thrilling single-player campaign, and with friends online in cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.”We’re bringing BioWare’s vision for emotionally engaging gameplay and great attention to quality to the strategy genre and the Command & Conquer franchise,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, General Manager of EA’s BioWare label.
“I am excited to welcome BioWare Victory to our label. They are a great addition and the team is working hard to make sure Generals 2 truly immerses and engages players into this intense, gritty, modern war experience.”Exec producer Jon Van Caneghem added: “For the last eight years, Command & Conquer fans have been begging for a return to the Generals universe. With Generals 2, we are bringing the Command & Conquer franchise back to its roots, blending strategic gameplay with fast-paced action — all set in visually stunning theaters of war powered by Frostbite 2.”
OH SHIT! I'M GONNA HAVE A HEART ATTACK! FUCK YEAH!

Cool, might be a nice alternative to go to whenever I'm bored with SC2:HOTS.

Guys, I advise you to steer clear of this title now.

F2P, no campaign, etc.
And the "roots" he was talking about.. since when were co-operative and competitive the core of the game?
I thought it was the over the top and larger than life campaign.
Last acceptable C&C game Red Alert 3.
C&C RIP.

Free to play? I'm not complaining. No campaign? I can live with this.
Story's great, and story is part of what makes a great game--but for a game created almost a decade after the original, story is hardly relevant. What IS relevant is gameplay, improvements on the graphics, and replayability. Let's be honest, if I want a story, I'll go play a Zelda game, or a visual novel. If I want fast-paced, addictive gameplay, I'll go play an action game, a MOBA, or an RTS. And as much as I hate new-age EA for what they've done to Bioware, this game looks good, and I'm excited for it.

Thanks for the advice, but I'd rather not.
I mean, even zero hour's campaign missions aren't that good to be called a "story". Most of them are just "destroy the enemy's base for the benefit of the cause / free word / chinese empire"
And, no offense dre, but IMHO RA3 sucks that it killed the reason why people wants to play red alert (RA3 is a bit slow-paced and looks more childish than RA1 and RA2)

That is why I used acceptable and not good.

Hmm.. yeah. I didn't see that one coming.
Anyways, as I read more of the contents of this page, it states that
Generals 2 will be tied to an ONLINE account that can be levelled up with new matches...
With this phrase alone, I take back what I said earlier and will take your advice as well.
As what I had experienced on free-to-play gaming (like ran online, operation7, special force and the likes that are prevalent in the Philippines), yes... you play the game for free but with the expense of having a sucky gaming experience / character until you become a premium user yourself.
Rest in peace, C&C. I'd rather play Tropico 4 than this one.

About F2P:
Actually, yeah.
Considering we are part world who had the free 2 play policies up and running first.
We know the crap.

Part of me desperately wants to believe that they'll stay true to the original but I'm sure they're going to check in CNC3 and CNC4 mechanics into it which will really drag it down. Swear sometimes these devs are blind. The original was my Dads favorite game and my first RTS ever which had hundreds of hours stuck into it so please to all that is holy keep it good Bioware.

EA ruined C&C (C&C 4 Tiberian Twilight was complete a shit like it is going to be this "Free-to-Play" Generals 2...).
After NFS from 2006 till today, now it's C&C's turn, congratulations EA.

My hopes were quickly crushed when i heard that there was no campaign and it was f2p. As long as they dont remove the base building i might give it a changce.

I heard about this last night, when I heard that there was no campaign, and geared for mainly multiplayer. They lost any money or time I would of put into the game. I am avoiding this title at this time. The whole online account that can be leveled up, was a major turn off as well, especially after Tiberium Twilight. Especially if they do what they would most likely do and that is required internet connection to play. While I have good internet I go back to C&C the most when my internet isn't working or I have bad connection on my laptop.
Out of the C&C universes Tiberium was my favorite and they killed it, while I hope C&C makes a comeback and be good like it used to be I wouldn't be surprised if EA killed off the rest.

Add a mod to the mix and it still is.
