Commandments in Videogames?
0
Like mankind, videogames developers should have commantments to make games funnier to play either alone or with real/online friends and less anoying to keep people away from rage quiting.
What do you think these commandments should be and why?
Here are some of my choise:
"Thou shall not make mandatory fetch quest"
"Thou shall not force repetition on the player"
"Thou shall put more savepoints"
"Thou shall not make instant-fail quick-time events"
"Thou shall not make us watch the same long cutscenes"
"Thou shall not make us do scourt missions!!"
and finally "Thous shall make killing fun"
you can get the idea of these on your own videogame freaks!
Now write yours!

Some of these are good ideas, but others are fails. The save points, they make em well enough, unless you have one of those games where they don't have checkpoints. Sutscenes? Then just make a random game with no story. Quick time events, hey, that works for me.

I may have to disagree with you on that one. I grew up on arcade games and old-school platformers. If you couldn't do what they asked of you in a set amount of lives, then you need to go back and do it all again. It's called challenge. Players don't need their hand held all the way to the ending of the game. They need to get better and overcome whatever hurdle comes their way.

For the most im good with games.. but~
- Thou't Shall Not Give Spoilers In Trailers
- Thou't Shall Not Make Overpowered Classes/Weapons in multiplayer
- If Thou Clam, GotY, Make Game Of The Year.
- Free-Roam Games should ALWAYS continue after the end-game.

I think you miss hte point in the cutscenes, I mean after dying er...lets say in the final boss, and then try to retry it, they make you watch the same cutscene again and without being able to skip it (like in Super Mario Galaxy)

Have you played "Lost Odysey"??? If not then you'll now what I'm talking about.
Your disagreement only applies only in platform games, try an RPG with fixtation save points or such...

- Thou't Shall Not Make Overpowered Classes/Weapons in multiplayerI was hoping that in MW3 the granade launcher would get locked permanently after passing level 40 or something, I would have suggested that.
You might say "Why not remove it anyway?" well, because most n00bs would get frustrated after some game without having something to kill easily, I don't mind when a noob uses it, but when somebody with enough experience use it only to be a dick, thats where I draw my line.

Buddy, I've played a few other games where you can only save at certain locations. It's been around for a while. A part of the game then becomes planning your save points before going out to complete quests and the like. Take for example, Dead Rising. You only get one save slot in that game and if you just found out that you messed up somewhere in the game, you gotta load from the last time you saved, costing you some time wasted by carelessness or maybe even requiring you to restart the entire game from the begining if you're trying for the true ending but messed up badly enough with your time management. Stuff like that is usually added to increase the overall challenge of the game which is, unfortunately, commonly thought to be bad game design by frustrated players. However, at least Dead Rising manages to evade any scorn from players as any character progression previously made is kept when you start a new game.

Though shall not make content downloadable when you could have placed it in the game before release.
Placing the content partially in the game and further downloading needed to use the content is even worse because you show you could have put it in the game but where just being awkward.

Spoiler:
Exactly, thats why Dead Rising 2 makes the perfect example of the commandment being follow, nowhaday games have auto-save or quicksave options, and thats ok, imagine restarting some hard parts just because "they want to add more challenge", thats a very stupid reason.

Actually, many would argue that the first Dead Rising's single slot save system was better as each decision had more weight because of it. You have a set amount of time before a case is lost. Do you use up your time (and likely resources) saving survivors, or do you go around the mall to stock up on weapons? Even with the addition of two more save slots on DR2, you still have to locate a bathroom or finish a case before given the option to save, leaving a rather sizable window to loose your progress if you don't go out of your way to save often. Even then, you're likely to be wasting time that could be spent on something more productive if you're willing to bypass survivors for the sole sake of saving your progress. It's almost like gambling. If you take a chance and skip saving, you could get more done. But if you die or mess up, you have to restart from your last save. You could say that Dead Rising's time limit and limited save system both add some tension to the game.

The game that comes to mind the most for me is Batman: Arkham City.
Cat women stuff is in there quite a bit with her trophies, a spot to change to her in game, and a spot in the menu.
Also I just thought about skins they mention in game how you can choose different skin to wear but every skin is downloadable they should of had a few with in the game. I don't see a menu for it but they mention it while playing in the game I already paid for this god damn game this shit should be in here already and FYI the game isn't as good as the 1st one. It's mostly cause of the download business but if this shit was in the game to start with most of the bad qualities of the game would be gone though I'd still wouldn't say it was better than the 1st one but not by much.
