Dead Island

Repost, since the old thread is gone.
More news just came out about the game. Apparently each character represents a different 'class' similar to Borderlands. Also like Borderlands, you level up your characters stats by gaining experience through killing zombies. The fact that you can also build makeshift weapons a la Dead Rising 2 also brings some strategy to this game. From what I understand, this game isn't a hack 'n' slash like DR2 but focuses more on tactics. You can block some attacks from zombies and even have the ability to push/kick them back for some breathing room. All of that aside, I'm still curious as to how the 4 player coop will work in this game.

Anyway, from the interview video that got up some time ago, the game sounds pretty boring. Just hack-and-slash zombie murdering as always.

I hope its more than just grab weapons, kill zombies. Cause I have dead rising 2 for that. Pardon me for borrowing/altering a line from Pineapple Express, but... Imagine that Left 4 Dead and Borderlands met and had a baby. And then, meanwhile, Dead Rising 2 and Far Cry 2 met and had a baby. And by some miracle, those two babies met and fucked. Dead Island would be the game they birthed.

And (as was inevitable) more content confirmed for E3. Looking great so far, although I'm slightly worried about the screenshots of giant zombies in straight-jackets. Need more info on the 'RPG' system, too.

Look, there are no giant zombies. that was just one of the special zombies standing on top of a truck in the pictures foreground, making it LOOK giant. But really, the guy's probably around 6 feet tall. Check out the game's official website, they have plenty of pics. Some of which also show the restrained zed and provides a more clear idea of what you're going to be up against.

Latest news I heard and kinda stands out from the other zombie games is the stamina bar. If I'm not mistaken either, some weapons you might pick up in this game won't work and if you do find a working one, finding ammo is going to be a bitch. I'm not too fond of the recent zombie games(ie. L4D, DR) but this definitely caught my attention.

Read it. Now it sounds like the pinnacle of hack'n slash zombie murdering instead. Your point?

Spoiler:
I was talking about this:
Spoiler:
And hinting that I'm kind of sick of special boss zombies in zombie games. Assuming he isn't mutated and is just an angry zombie in a straight-jacket...why is there a guy in a straight-jacket on an island resort?

Yeah, guy's still in the forground a bit. But to answer your questions, that guy's a special type of zombie, not a boss. The reason why he's there is because I'm guessing that there's some sort of prison on the island, as evident in one of the pics on the game site that displays a group of zombies in front of a wrecked prisoner transport truck. Some of the zombies are wearing guard uniforms whilst others, that of convicts (including the straight jacket guy).

Seems to have classes as well: Leader, Tank, Assassin and the Jack-of-all-trades.
As long as I can smash them all with an electric baseball bat then I am fine

And it still seems weird to have a (presumably) high security prison on a picturesque island resort. But ok, fair enough. That is unless it somehow has something to do with the down aircraft from other pics.
