I got this question just now after playing a game of DotA with my friends. I used the hero "Yurnero". His SS is always a mystery to me, so here's what I wanna know:
If you ever equip the item, "Desolator", Will the target's armor go down if he is hit my the Omnislash? or does the armor reduction only occur during normal attacks?

You mean this?
http://web.dota-allstars.com/item/Stygian_Desolator/4248
Showing version: 6_60b
A wicked weapon, used in torturing political criminals. It hungers for blood. Adds +60 damage and reduces the armor of enemies you attack by 6.
Although i never played DotA, i am a (poor) map maker.
It only reduces on regular attacks. Not attacks with skills.

It seems to add debuff which lasts 5 seconds and while that time the armor is reduced by 6.
If you wanna check it by yourself, try doing the skill on enemy and see if he got the debuff which reduces armor by 6. But i doubt that it would put the armor reduction D=
Damn i'd wish to play some WC maps naw >.<

yes, omni slash is just you basically attacking at a very fast rate while being invulnerable. Each slash will activate desolator

really? The Desolator works even during Omnislash? Then would the life-steal on a "Helm of Dominator" also work during Omnislash??

yes, orb effects work with omni slash, they're basically normal attacks so for example, Omniknight uses his ulti guardian angel(Makes all units in range immune to normal attack) omnislash wont do damage
if you don't believe me, do this, go play single player, get a maelstorm, omnislash creeps it should activate chain lightning
PS: Attack Speed also affects omnislash, with a high enough AS you can attack 2x in 1 slash

vlads is awesome, has a mana regen and lifesteal AURA and its cheap to make too and the addition that its not an orb effect just puts even higher

True enough, the Vlad is always a welcome edition for melee type attackers... But personally in my opinion, The Vlad is outdone in the late game by other items.
here's an example: Brood has the Vlad, as well as other items, filling her item slots. in her slot includes the Vlad and a battlefury. We all know that the battlefury regens both Mana and life. Vlad can do the same, but is mediocre compared to the battlefury's regeneration. Vlad may have lifesteal, but so does brood's SS. the vlad may give of a small amount of attack via aura, but you can get more from items like the "MKB", or the "Buriza". for all we know, we could go double Buriza while the SS of the brood is activated. If it crits, Imagine the life-steal you'd recieve.
Fortunately for the Vlad, the game usually ends before I could sell it for something better.
I'm not saying the Vlad is bad, heck It's the first item i get for most melee characters I use.

Vlad is an aura, thus it gives lifesteal to all allied melee units, plus it is not an orb effect(which is good, you can equip an orb effect weapon), pretty beneficial for the whole game for me...
Although i prefer using razor, potm, or clinkz

you should see yunero with maelstorm esp when he's lightning comes out during omnislash lol
But for him,life-steal is a better alternative
most people dont use vlad because they cant upgrade it,its pointless later on and only melee heroes can use it(I have seen people use it on ranged heroes). The so called lifesteal aura is not that useful as either your team mates are too far to benefit from it or they are not dps to fully benefit from it.
The only hero i ever used it on is anti mage
Mask of Madness is a better alternative.

Sorry i disagree, in every game(I usually play in computer shops) i've ever played there is always 1 person with vlad. Though i've only seen 1 person whos ever tried adding vlad to a range hero
PS:you do know it not only gives life steal and brilliance aura it has +damage for allies and yourself whether range or melee, right?

Only if you plan on relying on Omnislash, you'll only want Mask of Madness for its +AS and +movement, otherwise this item is just gonna get you hurt badly. But against really good players its better to go for Helm of Dominator then to satanic, for its +hp and life steal and +armor
this is my setup for yunero:
Butterfly
Manta (can be replaced with BKB when the need arises)
MKB
Heart
Vlad
Desolator
ya, you try taking on yunero with this gear

HEART? I dunno. Oh sure, his HP is superb, but what's the latest version of DotA are you playing? The latest version disables the regeneration of the Heart whenever the owner is hit by a hero. The up side is that the Heart gives RIDICULOUS regeneration.
Still, I'd go for a Buriza for the sake of critical bonanza, supported by the life-steal.
Heart = clash survival
Buriza = killing and hunting. (Gondar/Riki anyone?)

you do know its better to get +AS than getting only getting a percentage of the crit of Buriza (Look at the link above).
This is my tip for you, don't get crit items for heroes with crit ability. the item only stacks a percentage of its crit
However, this is me, if you want to go with Buriza go ahead

the buriza part is true, its really bad on yurnero for it's cost. crit does stack in certain hero def maps tho so u mite wanna keep that in mind
vlad isnt bad late either because of damage aura. my friend uses a vs and includes it in his early build for the dmg + support
and haha, you forgot boots in that gay build + 2 buff placers

As a matter of fact i do know that vlad gives bonus damage aura and a mana regen aura
Vlad's gives damage to everyone in your team, however, most of the heroes in your team won't be actually hitting in team battles where Vlad's actually has potential. There are initiators that will go in before you and maybe even die, so that's one less person for Vlad's. And then you have disablers and the likes which don't add much damage by attacking. You might have 2 heroes at most which actually do the damage and Vlad's will only really benefit them if they have stats items which is not the best choice for many heroes really.
The only situation where vlad can be used to full potential is if the whole team are all carries.
Vlad since 6.60 has been classified as a non carry hero item or rather the 6th item a carry hero should carry.
BTW your build is freaking expensive given if the game even lasts that long to buy all that or the other team is not ganking you enough.
I dont rely on omni slash, rather i use it to finish people off when i chase them with MOM on.

since this is turning into a vlad vs MoM disscussion I'll jump in from there...
well I have to say i'm taking vlad's side in this one... sure +AS and + MS is good.. added that good lfesteal but that 20% increase can casue your death if your really unlucky... your bane would be stunners and disables... which dota has a lot
On the other hand vlad's armor aura can really help you... +5 armor is a good thing anyway you look at it... and addition damage for your lifesteal is a good thing... the only disadvantage vlad has is that it has no upgrade but it's already strong enough as it is...
