Duke nukem forever

Yeah, the two weapon limit is kind of a letdown. Hell, I was disappointed as fuck when I noticed how few weapons there were in the latest Wolfenstein game in comparison to RTCW. Even if you could hold all of those weapons at one time, that doesn't excuse the absense of the shotgun. Nor the pistols. Or even that Thompson that was displayed on the back of the damn box... Sorry, got a little off track there...I can understand the rage especially if they show something which isn't even included in the game its self. I'm just hoping the Studio recognizes the stupidity of ONLY TWO WEAPONS for Duke Nukem. It may just be to increase the difficulty of the game but why do such a thing when there are many alternative ways to make a game harder?

Ways to make a game harder you say? You mean ways like non-regenerating health and increased damage thresholds for enemies? If you ask me, they should only have the Ego (health) replenish from doing certain actions in the game such as executions and headshots and the like. Of course, there's always the tried and true medkits which can always be played up as anything ranging from a typical roll of gauze to maybe even a six-pack of beer. There are plenty of different options they could use to refill Ego rather than having it regenerate on it's own.

I'm sure lots of games have done something like this if I'm not mistaken.I too found it quite weird how the played character has the ability to regenerate health and such so the idea of Medkits to replenish health sounds more logical to me...then again, it is a video game so not being logical sometimes adds to the fun.
Personally seeing as it's a Duke Nukem game, I'd say that they would either go with your Six-pack beer idea or even go as far as "regenerate health by banging some babes".
You never know right?

You never know what they can do until the release and/or the dlc.The concerns we have voiced off is part of the core game engine and cannot simply be fixed by patch, requires some amount of hard-coding.Since its a demo(not a beta gameplay), pretty much nothing would change.I just hope it was just a demo thing that they restrict weapons.

I guess you are right, but let´s not forget that they said that this can be the first of a series of duke nukem games.

for other who don't want to watch the awesome brit for 45 minutes tl;dw first impressions weren't the best.
my main gripe is regenerating ego in place of hp + armor. Hopeflly the modding community or the devs themselves change that =[

My friend went to the launch party last night in London; he posed with Duke, got to drink and watch dancers, and was given a free copy of the game. I'll be asking him how good it is before I invest. :p

They say that unless you're a big fan of the Duke, you'd better ignore this game.

I'm extremely iffy on this game. The last two videos posted, showing the details of the game have confirmed a lot of my fears. I don't care for linearity, and if this game is truely as linear as that dude says, it may take a lot of enjoyment out of the game for me. I'm also disappointed to learn that the two weapon system wasn't just for the demo and is actually a part of said linearity. And to be honest, the game doesn't even look fun to watch. On top of that, there's not enough gunfights and there's way too many lulls in the action. I may rent Duke to see if I might actually like the game, but right now, I'm kinda doubtful.

I've been playing the game for about 3 hours now so I'm not ready to make a final judgment on it but from what I have seen here is what I think.
The game knows that is just a very basic shooter and the only thing it has going for it is that its Duke Nukem. It takes every opportunity it has to be as crass and insulting as possible in regards to violence and sexuality, but everyone already knew that going in and knew what they were getting.
Any game that can be summed up with a level where you search for a condom, popcorn and a dildo needs no further explanation.
Personally, I'm loving it simply because it is so crass. If your basing your rating off purely its game play credentials, it would fail. There is nothing new here, its just a very standard shooter. But then again, if you bought it because you thought it would be a well balanced shooter, you were barking up the wrong tree from the start.
It is a little frustrating and ironic that a game we waited 12 years for isn't really that good. Don't get me wrong, ill still play through the whole thing, but there is nothing here to really bring you back past that initial nostalgia (and boobs).
Overall, id say rent it. You will see what it has to offer in the first couple of hours and then you will never look back. I'd give it a 5/10
P.S. Seriously Australian government, Mortal Kombat is banned, but this is ALLOWED? I'd be more shocked seeing my son play this than anything violent lol.

Judging from the videos and the demo, they killed Duke, at least for what he was in Duke Nukem 3D. The gameplay is just completely different, and it feels like it's just a cash grab they threw together. I'm also one of those people who hates linearity in games, this game obviously has plenty of it. I agree with the video above that the game is really brown, but Quake and Quake 2 were a lot (and when i say a lot, i mean infinitely many times more) brown than this game, but were pure fucking awesome with pretty awesome level design, so the aesthetics of the game aren't a major gripe for me. This will probably only sell for the same reason a number of crappy movies sell, because the main character is good marketing.
I think I'm going dig out my Duke Nukem 3D disc for some classic fun and nostalgia.

The game may not be very good but don´t forget that after 12 or so years in the making any game would suffer the same fate, let´s just hope that the next game is one that can provide the true Duke experience.
