E3 2011

The actual show isn't for five days yet, but it has been brought to my attention that Konami are holding their first ever 'pre-E3 conference' in 11 hours time, presumably so it isn't completely overwhelmed by superior ones during the show.
You can watch the 'event' online at 5pm PST.

I already know that trailers for Metro: Last Light, Saints Row 3, and Aliens: Colonial marines were released for E3. I'm just hoping for some gameplay footage for the latter two, and maybe for Mass Effect 3 while they're at it.

Pre-emptive bump, but we've also worked through the night (literally finished 7am) to edit and upload our
>>pre-E3 podcast spectacular<<, the perfect thing to listen to while you're waiting for today's conferences.
There's one segment for each of the three main conferences, and one epic one for everything else. Apologies for the Ninty one where we lost one person's audio almost entirely, and where the first 5 mins started slowly anyway. Maybe listen to that one last. :P It ended up being the shortest/least in-depth one by a mile anyway.
We're also doing live blogs for all the conferences and a general one on that same site, where you can join in and comment if you like. All views, listens and feedback appreciated. :)

I heard some rumors that Wargaming (the guys that made World of tanks) are going to bring a Panzer 38(t) Hetzer there for showcasing alongside their game..
Not sure is this true but if it is, that's one damn good way to get the attention of tank fans.

Pick of the news I've been covering: another big 'mistaken' announcement from Microsoft...

Edit: turns out they've pretty much leaked their entire conference >:|

I seriously doubt that is the entirety of their conference.
I still think their typical "big" reveal is not related to Halo 4. No, I'm thinking we are going to hear what Bungie and Activision are up to, and that is going to be the big news at E3 this year, at least for Microsoft, regardless of whether or not the IP actually will be multi-platformed.
If not though, not a big loss on my part. It isn't exclusives I'm interested in this year. Give me more information about Rage, Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Skyrim and I'll be a happy camper.

I also meant Mass Effect 3 with Kinect, Ryse (possibly Codename Kingdoms, on-rails Kinect slasher), new look XBL with 'voice search', GoW 3 and MW3 demos, and the likelihood of a Bioshock Infinite trailer, seeing as all rumours today have turned out to be true.
On top of the two Halo games and all of those other Kinect titles, that seems like the vast majority of it. We'll see in twenty minutes or so though.

Lara Croft is looking good so far. MW3 looks like mw2 so far. seen most of the same guns.
Edit: Me3 is looking amazing. Hopefully it isnt exclusive

Hmm, augmenting Mass Effect 3 with Kinect. I don't know about the dynamic nature of it, but being able to control party commands and abilities by voice sounds useful. The Powers Wheel always did feel slightly annoying in that game.

First 3 kinetic stuff was cool but god this is getting rediiculous. Fable looks like shit and they made it a railthing. Minecraft on console? I bet they will sell it for 49.99

Hm, lots of bitching.
There is nothing wrong with trying to groom the new generation of video game players. Nowhere did it say E3 was exclusive to the "hardcore" crowd. It is kind of sad how selfish we hardcore gamers have become.

So three more Halo games, and the Chief is back. I see them being as average as the third with worse multiplayer, but I'd love to be proved wrong.
Massive Kinect focus, Ghost Recon and Fable were interesting, and the object scanning thing would be great if it were to be developed beyond mini games (it won't be), but everything else was slower than a controller, unresponsive or just plain rubbish (Star Wars cough cough).
I don't care for Gears or CoD...what else was there? Live streaming TV (with two lots of subscriptions), Youtube? Both things which exist in TVs already, are connection dependent and are better experienced on a computer.

I thought Microsoft's was pretty good. A little too heavy on Kinect when they still need to strike a balance between Kinect/Casual and Kinect/Hardcore. Much better than the debauchery that was Microsoft E3 2010, at least.
I love the people complaining about the children games. If they think Sony isn't going to do the same with Move then they are sadly mistaken. Or rather Sony would be mistaken if they didn't. You have to make your system appeal to everyone.

Wow, that was a pretty embarrassing conference. I hope Sony's isn't as bad.
