Is there any link for the prequel? Or is the story still good even without playing the previous game?http://narcissu.insani.org/down.html
Distributed as freeware since ages ago.
To be honest I think Narcissu is rather overrated, it's a nice short story, but not something that will blew your mind.

I think it's nice to see this first before the first one...

Same.
Though, I never did finish the first one. There was more fatalistic defeatism in the first fifteen minutes then I've felt in my entire life.
Didn't sit well with me.

Gao-gao... finally! After waiting for years, we got the translated version.
Well, rather kind of overrated its depend on the person. I find it so much interesting.
Now waiting for the third to be localized.

"and please report back how many clicks it took you to get to the download"
Only two!!
So, that good, eh? So I need to get the first one. Been sitting untouched in my HD long enough (apparently, TOO long)

Wow, this came as a total surprise for my late night. So the translations no longer vaporware since a week ago? That's what I get for only checking on Haeleth's site...God knows how many years ago this would have been released if he was a tad bit more active. >.>
Now I get to know the actual names of the songs I extracted from the JP version long ago. =P
...If I can only get it work. *gets continuous 404 errors at Agilis's site* =.=;;

Thanks for the heads-up on the mirror, chaosbreak.
As for what "Canadian" means...well, the only other primary language in that country is French, so he might mean that. And if so, then no. It's only in English, both American and British variants (I forget which of the translators for the first game use British English, but if its Haeleth...so yeah) While there have been various foreign translations for the first Narcissu, Narcissu 2 has only ever had an English foreign version, as far as my knowledge goes.

Well, I've never heard of a PSP version released for the game, so he might have been using an app.
That said, there IS going to be an official PSP omnibus release of all three games in the series: 1, side 2nd, and 3rd: Die Dritte Welt. Though the likelihood of it seeing the light over here is very slim, seeing as:
1) It's for the PSP, so translators are going to have to use a new set of tools. And while there probably is someone out there, I'd rather stick with the ones who've been translating them so far under permission from the author himself. That, and they're better than the average run-of-the-mill translators that are out there.
2) The 3rd game is commercial (which consequentially makes this PSP release commercial as well). To even get the rights to translate would require a LOT of negotiations.
So yeah. You'll have to know Japanese for this one, not to mention buy it. The only people that are most likely to translate are the ones who only do so when given permission. And if there is someone out there that would do so without it (which, IMO, is a little dickish, after the author of the series graciously gave consent for the translation of the first two), then they probably wouldn't have the capacity to convey the text properly, anyway.

...They actually finished this translation!? HOLY FUCK YES
The last update was like, somewhere Q3 2007. I was under the impression it was canceled or indefinite hiatus.
I actually never finished the first Narcissu because it was so short and refused to play it all during summer because I thought it would be more fitting for an autumn/winter play session. And after that I never really played it again, although I had countless of times where I mysteriously remembered it during school or work, and was like 'Will continue that game as soon as I get home...'. But after getting home I was too tired for a depressive VN, hehe.
But the first 30 min./1h I played was great. Had a very melancholic atmosphere and interesting characters. Not to mention the tremendous OST.
Now that this thing is released I will definitely pull a marathon on this one.
Any there any plans for the translation of Narcissu 3?

Agilis, the surviving translator of side 2nd, has Narcissu 3rd as one of his considerations. However, since Narci3 is not a free release, he would have to go through some negotiations in regards to its release before the translation itself is given a pass.
Which means not very likely, given that 70% of the visual novel community are fairly amoral when it comes to downloading illegal copies, which is what would mostly likely happen should a translation of Narci3 ever be released without precautions.
