Fakku's 2011 GOTY award [Qualifier]
1
As 2011 comes closer to a close, it's hard not to be astonished from what has passed. 2011 is a year that might go down in video game record books as one of the best if not the best 365 days of our glorious hobby ever; it really had something for everyone. Skyrim, Arkham City, The Witcher 2, LA Noire, Uncharted 3, Forza 4, Mortal Kombat, Battlefield 3, Skyward Sword, Portal 2, Dead Space, Gears 3, Dark Souls even Minecraft; there seems no end to the amount of AAA games that were released this year. However there can ultimately only be one.
So Fakku!, what's YOUR Game of the Year for 2011? State yours in the comments below and the top 5 will move on to duel it out to become Fakku's Community GOTY for 2011.

Personally this perhaps the most difficult GOTY's ive ever had to decide since 2007 (the year that saw games such as Mass Effect, CoD4, Bioshock, Assassins Creed released). There are so many great games that i played this year and there's no clear frontrunner like Red Dead was last year. Ultimately i managed to narrow it down to three - Portal 2, The Witcher 2 and Skyrim.
Portal 2 is perhaps the most fun ive ever had playing a game in a while with it's satirical humour and witty puzzles (+ points for SPAAACCCEEEE). The Witcher 2 is perhaps the most well-rounded and complete game out of any this year, that doesn't include multi with it's awesome demon-souls-esque combat system, well written plot and gorgeous visuals (probably the best graphics of any RPG period). In saying that, even though Portal 2 and The Witcher 2 are 10/10 games for me, i ultimately am going with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as my GOTY (surprise, surprise right!?).
I don't think any game this year has captivated me as much in its proverbial world. Skyrim is just a beast of a game. It's just one of those games when hours can pass by without you realizing it, or one of those games where you leave for a break after 5 hours thinking you've had enough and coming back 10 minutes later realizing you want to play more. 80+ hours in and i feel like i haven't even completed half of what it has to offer. Sure it has it's flaws, but even the flaws themselves become comical after a while. (Horses climbing 80 degree mountains wat. Dragons that glitch and never land FUUUUU-, flying 100m into the air because of a giant)
FUS RO DAH. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, my 2011 Game of the Year.

Yeah that was rather a mess, i thought this would be more official? Rather than putting a million games in a poll i thought this would be a better way of doing it.

Hmm... Four games would deserve the honor of being nominated (Pokémon Black/White, Dragon Age II, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Star Wars: The Old Republic). All are awesome, but in the end, I'm only allowed to pick one, so my vote goes to the one game of these that I least expected to choose for this:
Star Wars: The Old Republic
There are very few games that have managed to keep me playing until 3 AM, repeatedly going "just a little bit more and then I'll stop for today". This one managed to do it again.

I'm gonna say Batman: Arkham City. Probably the best game (overall) that I've played this year.
However, if I were to base my choice on the games graphics or by entertainment value alone, I would've said RAGE or Saints Row: The Third, respectively.

i'm gonna ask.
for the GOTY nominations,is it US games only that got nominated?
i mean if all games are allowed, then some users might gonna want to vote for JPN games like Black★rock shooter,FF Type 0,Idolmaster,Tales of Xillia and many more.
i'm just want to make sure of it.

Skyrim was so awesome, but so broken. Arkham City deserves the award just for being very well crafted.

Zelda: Skyward Sword for the single fact that it made me feel like a 10-year old again. Awesome game, and a huge improvement over the terrible Twilight Princess.
Dark Souls for runner-up.

Nope, can be any game that has been released this year.

I have to go with Dead Space 2.
Had WAY more fun with that game than I thought I would.
(Kudos and +rep for doing the GOTY topic correctly.)

even though the three games i stated are the games that got released this year?
alright then.
for US games that got released this year,i voted for The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim because it's really challenging, got breathtaking graphics(even though i do encounter some minor bugs) and i spend more time than playing Mortal Kombat.
