The other ones are alright. Nowhere as good as tactics. Delita would make an interesting main. I liked him at first. Then seeing him sink into darkness made me hate him. Ramza always wanted to be like him. Ahhh irony at its fullest. I have tactics on my ps3 <3 paid 8 bucks for itThat's what I gotta do, when the paycheck comes in. My brother works for Konami and he gets these freebies all the time, and he keeps telling me to get a hand held but I don't know. I have an addictive personality.
LOL. Shit... in this vid, the guy is just pressing on button per battle, 30 hours of fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, and going in a straight line, no towns, nothing. It sounds like this game is a response to FFXII's sprawling, MMORPG-looking, exploration mess. In another thread in Random, someone posted an article about Japan or something and the guy talks about FFXIII's selling points (which were on the back of the Japanese version's box)
- pretty graphics'
- 'plays just like a game, easy non-stressful game play'
"Just like a game"? Wtf?

Ugh, the reason Final Fantasy is turning to shit is cause Square believes that they'll make more money if they make the visuals appealing to any age, yet make the combat easy enough or a 4 year-old.
Brbfilingcomplaint.
Seriously, I didn't like the old Final Fantasy's because I found them too complex, with jobs and stuff. I liked the combat, turn-based and stuff. Then, FF7,8, and 9 come along. Different combat system, still mangeable though, at least it's somewhat turn-based. FF10 comes along, back to turn-based, probably the most popular Final Fantasy game (probably even more popular than 7 now), and the best combat system to date. Then they go down the fucking drain with 11, okay, not so bad, it's only one game... right? Nope, they do it with 12, and now 13? You'd think they got the idea from 11 & 12. That combat system doesn't work, it's just NOT ENJOYABLE. It makes the player ditch strategy for crazed button-mashing, in the hopes that you can get an extra attack in here or there.
Kay, complaint sent, complaint replied to, basically responded with "fuck your opinion, you go to a hentai site".

Really? FFX as the most popular FF to date? Best combat system? The Spira system was just an assignment of points that gave you the illusion of creating your own character, which is only potently helpful in the beginning of the game, but for the rest, it no longer matters. The bosses and random enemies went in a staggering downcurve and couldn't keep up with your characters' level ups, which made them boring to fight.
This is, in no way, a defense of FFVII, which I am indifferent toward, but I do want to contest your comment about FFX's battle system.
FFIX wasn't "different," either. It was a return to the old-school battle system and job classes with an emphasis on equipment for spells and a limi break-like system like FFVII.

Oh, sorry, I meant VI. Haven't play IX. D:
The reason I liked FFX is cause the story was good, and the combat was good. I never got very far into the game though, the disc always broke, or I got stuck at a boss. So I'm really just stating my opinion up till that point.

Ah, okay. Glitch disc is my experience with FFV, so I haven't gone back to it. FFIX is decent, but nothing to rave about. I think FFX was a formidable follow-up from FFIX, too, but wouldn't be the best follow up of FFVI, VII, or even VIII story-wise even with its nice graphic sheen. It was, at best, cute. They also really over-clocked those battles and made them a lot quicker, which is what I remember being one of its finer points - but I don't think the actual system or gameplay was very stimulating.
What FFX gets the most points for in my book is Rikku. She's super hot and should have replaced Selphie from FFVIII.
edit: almost forgot the tribute picture:

No, I mean, I find them hot, just... not as hot as alot of other things I've seen. <.<
Yuna would be awesome if... I forgot, but there was one thing I wanted to fix about her.
Anything before VIII I won't bother with, since it makes me feel weird.

Okay, I'm not gonna judge or flounder in the dark, murky waters of subjectivity. But I still have to express awe.

I'm biased, because I really liked FFIV - but you have to remember, before she was re-rendered, she was a chubby sprite with a few red/pink pixels in her hair.

1st He can't really properly review the game if does not understand the story or the dialog i.e. he playing the Japanese version so that takes away from half of the experience of the game. 2nd He is mentally challenged swearing over an over I admit I swear from time to time but if someone like him swore that much around me I tell him to shut the fuck up are 12 or what? so he is not a credible reviewer 3rd it seems the direction of the game went was the road of FF10 which is liner but was very successful might I add! 4th The game will be the bees knees ^_^

I am disappoint. Circle button mashing basically means you have no control over winning and losing, or you always win. Where's the fun in that? In any case. I'm still gonna buy it.
He's fluent in Japanese, bro. Pay more attention. "For better or worse, I've got my beer and my shit ass translation skills." Verbatim. He even has instructional videos on how to learn Japanese [reading and writing] on youtube. Namasensei's Japanese Lessons

I beg to differ. What about those bomb enemies that explode after 3 turns? What about high defense enemies? Ailment inducing enemies? There's quite an array of them to keep your hands busy using all kinds of spells and abilities.
Let the bomb enemies explode, they don't hurt you enough to kill you. Running away is also an option. Keep hitting the high-defense enemies, all it'll do is take longer. I suppose you got me there at ailment enemies, but I lump status recovery in with healing spells, which aren't offensive spells and don't contribute to combat strategy since the odds that you won't have enough time to cast all the recovery spells you'll need are really low. Skills and non-recovery spells are more a matter of convenience rather than any actual strategy.

Sure most of your attacks are going to be the attack button but in other series you usually had to figure out when to attack (take the SNES FF2's mist dragon for example or FF7's train graveyard's ghosts) and some enemies deal out a lot of damage but have low hp so you want to use an area magic or something that can 1-hit them before they tear your party apart - especially if there's a group of them. And some enemies like bombs will blow up if you take your time so you want to use their elemental weakness (ice) to quickly extinguish them before you get pwnd. The ghosts are really nothing more than a gimmick. All they do is waste your time since there's no strategic depth to waiting around for 20 seconds just so you can hit the ghost once. Usually, when you have high damage enemies two or three attacks is all it takes to get rid of them. So you take one out, heal, take another one out, heal, etc., etc. Let the bomb enemies explode, they don't hurt you enough to kill you. Running away is also an option.

Take the Baigan fight for example from FF2...Not sure how I feel about gimmick bosses. They usually require casting some spells to set things up, then it's back to mashing "Attack" as per usual. I do wonder why they just don't have interesting normal enemies though.

Also, saying that what he says has no credential just because he swears makes you look ridiculous.

Uh, sphere grid system. Spira is the name of the country.
Anyways, this is the best system I've seen in an RPG to date. Reasons are as follows:
-Every character can learn ANY move in due time. Which means it doesn't matter that much what character you use later on. Meaning you don't leave forgotten character classes by the sidelines like you would do in previous games.
-You can use your points to either increase defense, or attack, or agility, or whattever you chose. Meaning your stats will be fully customized, and not automatic like the LVL system. Therefore more complex.
-You can see what spells and abilities lie ahead. And this is just awesome.
You are true about the boss battles not being too hard. The only you'll probably need to grind a bit will be in Seymour Flux and then Braska's Final Aeon. Other than that, you can pretty much own them in a few tries. BUT! For the people looking for some challenge, they put in the arena monsters and the dark aeons. Albeit only for the PAL version of the game.
But I never found the fights boring. Awesome bosses, awesome attacks, awesome music. It is a gnarly game.
Also, the best thing about the game was... riku? Wat

*Sphere system. In Tactics, anyone can learn anything, too. I mean, characters have their own special attributes and abilities, but anyone can be a monk, thief, etc. You can customize their skills and equip weaponry that will make them useful without them completely overlapping each other. Some classes require you to know other classes beforehand, but you never completely leave behind any skills that you find useful. I can have a dragoon, for instance, with the attack power of a monk. The sphere system is a simplified version of this.
