I thought I would make a thread about the FGC as a whole. This thread is to not only talk about Fighting Games, but to also talk about the tournaments, cool matches, advice, what happened, news, and the like. Any tournaments you want to run? Online? Fun stuff? Talk about your scene, that stuff.
So the hot topic going around is Fighting Games in E-Sports. I know a lot of people have different opinions, but mine is that anything that will bring in more money is a good thing. MLG is not the only league around, and we know how much MLG messed up Fighting Games. There are other major leagues. It is not like the community can get any worse. It is the best it has been and it is not going to stop.
On another note, what did you guys think of SoCalRegionals, if anyone watched it? I really loved the 5v5 NorCal vs SoCal KoF Exhibition. NorCal seemed to be screaming the loudest. The Top 4 was also really cool, with all the Clark hype. It was a lot of fun watching it. I hope KoF can get more exposure, hopefully, NCR can do something about that, seeing as iplaywinner and Lord Haunts love KoF right now.

oh hey awesome, yeah some of my friends and i were talking about the exact thing....I personally think that it would benefit everyone if MLG or IPL or someother league got fighting fighting games in their lineup but the FGC is being so stubborn and closed minded to any kind of merger or co-operative event it's saddening.
As far as SoCalRegionals goI watched a little bit of it, mostly BlazBlue, MK, the TTT2 and SoulCalibur V demonstrations next year is going to abundant in fighting games.

I ended up missing out on the regionals, heard about it too late.
As far as my scene goes, its decent. We have a pretty strong smash community ( of which I'm more familiar with), I hear we have a good community for street fighter and marvel, but whose doesn't at this point? I kinda feel out of my league in general for fighters now since I don't compete no where near as much as I used to.

You can understand why FGC doesn't want to cooperate with MLG. But with Latif being sponsored by Razer, things could change quickly.

Saving up money to go back and fly from Italy to the States for EVO this year. I am mostly likey going to go there for the side tournaments of BB, GG, MB:AACC, Catherine, and other games that have been left out in the cold this year due to MK9 and SFxT making it tournament wise.
Other than that, I'd just be hanging out with old FG friends and try to help out J&J modding services.
As for the FG scene, I'd rather keep it the way it is. Underground. I was born and breed in an "arcade/underground" FG scene, and that's how I've known it for years. MLG has been notorious for messing up any FG tournaments, so it's understandable that the FG crowd does not go down that route.
