Hmm, well first off I would say to go back and grind until you have maxed out all of your primary roles with whoever you plan to use for the fight, maybe go and get the growth egg too(equip to one person, whole party gets double CP for every battle) and only advice I can really give other than that is keep him debuffed, your people buffed, and if possible have a paradigm with multiple sentinels, for each sentinel you've got it reduces damage that every takes if I recall it stacks, if not then just have a class you can switch to in order to reduce damage. Also for your death dilemma, as far as I can recall bosses only bust that out when you're taking to long to defeat them so pretty much just do as much damage as you can as fast as you can, sorry if this wasn't that much help.

Well First Thing First Take Out Vanille and Sahz and replace them with Hope at this stage of the game he is a much better Medic and Ravager then Vanille and is better then Szach as a Synergist. Equip him with the Vidofnir or if you can upgrade it to Hersvegr they have a special prorety called Defense Maintense its an ability to make the Buffs last longer about 40 percent longer(Defense Maintence I) to 80percent(Defense Maintence II) then make him equip sprint shoes it has auto haste, a accesory that will boast his already high magic stat and something that boast his HP.
Then Keep Fang in your party, at this stange of the game she is your strongest hitter and with counterattacks she is the edge over Snow and she is pretty good as a saboutour. Give her the strongest weapon you can find, or give her a weapon that has the Postive Effect Abiltly, this also increases durantion of bluffs as well. Give her sprint shoes, accesory that increases her chance to counter attack, and a boast in HP.
Then have lightning. Give her the Enkindler Blade as it has ATB Charge II this weapon has a weak stats but with ATB Charge and equiping Sprint Shoes and accosry that raises the ATB charage wait time. She will become a speed demon.

Okay when begin the battle with Even Odds. Have Light manual cast healing spells as Hope Bluffs and Fang Debluffs if she can. Everyone has haste so it shouldn't take long to buff out your party. Whenever the whole party is below 50 HP switch Combat Clinic right away and heal. Then you can switch to either Rentless Attack and you should stragger him quickly, and when you heal swtich to Combat Clinic.
Keep swtiching back and forth from healing, debluffing/bluffing and attacking and you should do fine. Remember if you need drastic healing Combat Clinic is the way to go. When he cast doom at you, go on the OFFSENIVE and just heal.
This tactic work for me with flying colours, but remember this just some advice you dont have to follow what I do.

Hell,this fights should have fairly easy.
to put it short, you just need one medic and you should win this battle.

Decimation(Comando,Synergist,ravager) and if you lose some help change to hero's change(comando,synergist,medic) until you fully buffed,or at least you got haste in each one of your member, after that just use tridisaster/relentless attack or diversity, just keep attacking him,when only his head remain,he can dispel all your buff,so you don't really need buffed yourselfy again from the start,just attack him and heal yourself if necessarry. and in some case,just prepare two medic pradigm(like Combat clinic)
My character recomendation is Sazh/lightning,Fang,and Vanille. Sazh's blitz is a true damage dealer ,but if you didn't feel like to use Sazh,change to Lightning since she can heal some of your friend in need. You don't need Santinel here,just focus your attacking and if thing gets very bad,just use Renew

you know those missions that the stone's give you ,go back to grand pulse try to do as much as you can until you unlock mission 55 which is called "CANT WE JUST ALL GET ALONG" the monster you have to kill is hard but thier is trick on killing him an you WILL GET 5 STARS ON IT. AFTER KILLING HIM YOU GET A SUPER DUPER VAILIABLE COMPONENT CALL ED "GROWTH EGG" WHICH GIVES YOU TWICE AS MUSH AS CP

Fang and Sazh together,you got to be kidding me??
Sazh is pratically overpowered by Hope if he isn't used as your main since he can't use Blitz,and cold blood, so instead relying on Sazh,Hope can do his job better with a high magic for a decent ravager and Medic.
i'll recommend usng Sazh,Hope,Vanille to get the job done quickly

Sazh, Hope and Lightning is actually faster. HATED this game but that is probably the best combo as it is fast, simple and sturdy.

thanks for all the helps, main reason i use sahz is because of haste. but ill see about useing hope as my syrnergyst instead but i still have to go complete lie anouther bazzilion side missions in order to get the eggy thing. and im at the lae with my parents this weekend so i wont be able to get it started till tusday but, ill tell you how it wors for me.

I use Lightning, Vanille and Hope
Pradigms (First column is Lightning, Second is Vanille and Third is Hope:
1 COM RAV SYN (Start)
2 COM RAV RAV
3 RAV RAV RAV
4 MED MED MED
5 RAV SAB SYN
Start with 1 and have Hope haste the party. When that is done, either stick with the paradigm or switch to 5. When you are all buffed up with haste, shell, protect, etc., switch to 3 and hit him for a few turns, then switch to 2. Just repeat until he staggers, then stay in 2, with Lightning as COM, if you have "Scourge", then it should do a lot of damage to him. If your health is low, switch to 4, it shouldn't take more than a turn to heal the whole party. Just rinse and repeat. This is how I beat him the second time.

My team was lightning, vanille and fang when i beat this guy. I used summons when my team was low on health because apparntly summons heal up your entire party after the duration. It's just important that all the people in your current party are decent healers or one of them will die surely.

Its depends on how you use it . and then,there aren't much difference with Light and hope's total Hp. item like generel's belt or witch bracelet exist for a reason,rather than using some mag/str up accesories(its even reduce your target time).
But i still think all character were equally made,its has their own advantages and disadvantages
