Hey guys, bit new to the whole Visual Novel thing, but i've to start up a few.
So just wondering, do you guys use the walkthrough to go to paths you want to see or do you have a run through the game first.
tldr; my question is, what do you guys usually do? Use the walkthrough for the whole game or use it for routes you missed or can't get to?

i personally feel that its very nice to use planned walkthroughs(by others) in advs since i can minimise on the repeated text and should be enjoying the most preferred sequence of routes to play as recommended by people who have already played the game.

Yup. GameFAQs is the easiest site to find walkthroughs, and I haven't seen a bad walkthrough for VNs yet.

Walkthroughs are an absolute last resort for me, when I really can't figure something out or, in some very bad cases, the choices given by the VN are sometimes extremely unclear.

Sometimes, as im much more interested in enjoying the story than doing a bunch of trial and error shit with some choices im given

Walkhroughs are fun once in a while, but it's much fun for me if I can figure it out all by myself. :D

Ah.....I always...always...ALWAYS use a walkthrough....
Everytime I start a VN game, 1st thing I do is search for a walkthrough. >_>

It varies depending on the game and how much of what's being said can I make out. Usually, I try to avoid using walkthroughs, unless I'm feeling particularly lazy or there are certain routes I want done first.

Depends on how the skip function is designed, if you can skip directly to the next choice if there's no unread text i tend to try and do it myself, else i'll just use a guide to not waste my time.

Definetly use a walkthrough!
Makes the game fast to finished and enjoyable for me anyway.Got to move up my list T_T lol

I usually go by walkthrough. I read visual novels for the story, not for pretty annoying trial and error playing.

It depends on how transparent the system is. I generally go without walkthrough for the first time around, picking which choices suit me best personally... then see where it takes me.
Then there are times like Wanko to Kurasou, where I didn't realize there were only two paths, and i kept getting thrown into a path I had already seen because I was trying to get a girl who wasn't available.

Same here, except I look for a walk-through even before I start downloading. Although..some games like Bazooka Cafe or Crescendo, even Cosplay Fetish don't require much for you to get on the track that you want to be.

i pretty much always use a walkthrough since it lets you get on with the game and dont need to worry about repeating text, or at least minimise the amount of repeated text i have to endure

Only if I can't figure out the game or it has too many variables to consider(i.e Da capo)...
Other that that I usually just though it out and feel my way on the game...

only to find out how many route avaliable, usually Im allways save the game everytime I counter decision point, sometimes it was a pain to target a girl without route, so I always looking for avaliable route first before too late...........
