Game Recommendations

Ok, this is not me asking to be recommended any games. This is just a list of games you would recommend to other people. I was surprised that I couldn't find one. Didn't seem like such a bad idea to make one. Perhaps there are some hidden gems that can be found here.
Any recommendation are welcome. Doesn't matter what console or what genre the game is. Hell, recommend some NES games if you want.
Lets get started.
Resident Evil 4 (Action-Shooter/PS2/GC/Wii) (Score: 9.8/10) (PC version sucks. Don't get it)
Fucking incredible game. No doubt that many of you have already played it. But if you haven't. Play this game. Go find it on Ebay and play this game.
God of War 1,2 (Action/PS2) (Score: 9.5/10)
Simply one of the best action games out there. Incredibly violent and satisfying. This is another one that should not be missed.
Mass Effect 1,2 (Shooter-RPG/PC/Xbox360) (Score: 9.8/10)
One of the best current gen RPG. The game's strongest point is the story. One of the best stories I have seen in a game. As TIME magazine put it: "This game is like the Avatar of video games. Only it's better written."
Dragon Age: Origins (RPG/PC/PS3/XBox 360) (Score: 9.6/10 for PC)
Another BioWare masterpiece. Another involving storyline and fully realized world. One of the best new RPG games out there. One RPG that should not be missed. Though if possible, I would definitely suggest playing this on PC
Dragon Quest VIII (J-RPG/PS2) (Score: 9.4/10)
One of my favourite RPGs on the PS2. This to me is what the "almost" perfect J-RPG should be. Though the storyline is quite straight-forward, the game will throw some twist in there. But be warned. This game is hard. And I mean hard. There will be a lot of grinding involved.
Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis (Tatical-RPG/GBA) (Score: 9.7/10)
Ah. This might be a little gem that people might not have heard of. If you like tactics game, this is the one for you. The story is good, but its the gameplay that cements it for me. The actual tactical part of the game is amazing. There are just too many details for me to go into. But trust me. Find a GBA emulator and play this game.
More to come later!

IJI AND CAVE STORY
They're like less than a meg each, and provide hours of fun. They're so fantastic for when you're stuck on a public computer or something.

This thread can also be used to ask opinions on games that you are not certain of or ask for suggestions for certain genres.

Oh, and to give a recommendation.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines
It's pretty damned immersive. But, seriously, be sure to download the official patches for the game first. There are also unofficial patches but I have not tried them out.
Yume Nikki
It's freeware and it provides brilliant mindfuckery.

Yeah, those games are awesome, but I can't find suikoden 2 unless I pay $300+ for it. I wish someone could make copies of the game so I could play it on my ps3.
EDIT: Oh, I also recommend Grandia 1, 2, & 3. I don't recommend Xtreme since I never played it. MS Saga if you don't mind really dumb characters, but you love to customize your own gundams in an RPG...maybe it wasn't that great, but I played it till the end.

System Shock 2
One of the best games of all time.
Old graphics, but great gameplay scary too.
Deus Ex
Again one of the best games ever made.
Made by the same people who made SS2.
Both can be bought relatively cheaply and usually found in the bargain bins for 10 bucks.
I'm surprised no one mentioned them before.
Homeworld Series
For those who want space opera RTS action.
Homeworld is unique in that it was the first game to implement a 3D environment to command your fleet of ships.
Lots of mods for it too such as Homeworld 2 Complex for Homeworld 2.
FEAR Series
Great games if you're after action with cheesy horror. The original ones were a bit lacking in environments but that was improved with FEAR 2.

Alright a lot of games has been mentioned but here goes:
Legend of Zelda series
Most of you probably know the series and the basic concept even if you haven't played them.
Baldur's Gate I/II and Neverwinter Nights + Expansions.
Classic high-fantasy role-playing games a là D&D, good storylines and there genuine feeling to these games. Sadly the Neverwinter Nights 2 made by Ubisoft can't compare to the awesome games made by Black Isle and Bioware.
Morrowind and Oblivion
I can't speak for the rest of the Elder Scrolls series since I haven't played the earlier games, but both Morrowind and Oblivion are awesome games with highly intriguing lore. Extremely open worlds where you can go about and do your thing, follow the mainquests or spend hours upon hours of sidequesting and building your character.
Ninja Gaiden (Sigma)(Xbox or PS3)
A personal favorite in all genres. The storyline might be quite weak, but since this is a pure hack n' slash game the story comes second. Smooth gameplay, nice graphics and design.
I'll update the list when I can think of more awesome games that haven't been mentioned.

I love you.
I've only played through a small portion of System Shock 2 (first deck, and a little of the second), only because it keeps me too on edge which gets my back and neck worked up after a while haha. Even so I love what I've played of it and I plan on going back to it at some point in time.
Deus Ex on the other hand I finally played through last year and completely fell in love with it, granted I used the Shifter mod, mostly for gaining skill points when killing enemies, but even without the mod it's a must play for anyone who likes first person shooters with good stories. Just don't expect anything great from the graphics, not compared to anything being released now anyway heh.
For RPG fans I will recommend Fallout 2 yet again. I've played it at least once a year ever since it was released, it's just that good.
And for those of you that enjoy RTS games, well I normally don't but Warlords Battlecry 2 is easy to learn and enjoy even for novices. Especially helpful is the ability to pause the game and still give orders (which is lacking in every other RTS I've played, which admittedly isn't many).
Another suggestion for FPS fans is the STALKER series although I will admit that out of the first two games I personally only enjoy the first (Shadow of Chernobyl) and that's using a mod to increase the weight limit among other things. Yeah it's cheating (depending on how you look at it), but I HATE really restrictive weight limits like STALKER has. (If anyone has SoC and wants a suggestion on what mod to use PM me. It's called Faiake's mod, but may be difficult to find now.) I did recently buy Call of Pripyat (the newest STALKER), but it crashes too frequently on my current computer, so I have to wait for my new one before I can comment on it.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 + 2: Another suggestion for RPG lovers, I've only completed the second game, but both are greatly enjoyable.
I'd make suggestions for more than the PC but I'm tired and those are the only games within reach haha. More to come (if I remember).

A-fucking-men. Atlus makes some kickass handheld games.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars,
This shit is awesome, don't argue.
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
You get this because it's more interesting and difficult than it's prequel thingie( I don't recall if they're in the same timeline or not).
Fire Emblem( I'm just gonna say all the English ones)
Tactical turn based rpg, fun as nuts, and character are usually pretty well made.
Portal:
Fun, humorous, short.
